Five #DRIVECLUB beta videos + impressions

I wish the devs went crazy with this and allows us to daisy chain multiple PS4's together for surround gaming.

this is the best looking game ever. by a country mile. its amazing that the environments are so fully complete AND look nearly CG/real in quality. tons of details with virtually no "videogamey artifacts". to top it off it looks to have maybe the best, most natural lighting ever seen too, which really seals the look together. stunning stuff. wish i had a ps4 just to marvel at this in all its glory.

Yeah it's pretty mind blowing.

Weird that people are trying to downplay how lovely this game looks. NO racer has ever had this dense of foliage. Not even close.

God damn. This looks bananas

The audio is insane too

It's kind of odd there's no scraping sound effect when skimming barriers though.

It's kind of funny the developers can only seem to find time for 10 second clips, yet 1 random guy can release 20 minutes of unedited gameplay.

Yes, indeed. It's ironic that one "NDA breaker" can do more positive marketing for a game than all the Sony marketing people working on DriveClub put together. :P

Rushy, if you are reading this (and I know you are!), when the beta is over, please post us a few high quality race videos taken at 1080p. You and the team Evolution should feel proud of how great DriveClub is shaping up. Now get those finals bit of spit & polish on the game before it goes gold :)

The sound. the SOUND. my god it gets me hot.

Indeed. While their is plenty to rave about on the graphics side, the sound in DriveClub is just sublime. DriveClub is going to set a new standard for sound in console racing games.

Now we pray that the DriveClub sound code accidentally finds it way into GT7 :P

This is the best thing I could've seen coming into work. Great post, Wario. Basically any of the pre-release concerns are being dealt with, and the game continues to impress (and show off incredible variety). The comments on handling make me ecstatic to hear from an outsider (who actually played it).

2014: Year of the Driver

How does this game continue to blow me away? Every time I get used to how awesome it looks, new GIFs surface and blow my mind all over again.

I mean, HOLY FUCK!

I wonder how all of those nay-sayers are feeling now, after trolling those low-quality beta screenshots the other day? Gotta love that crow.

This looks like the biggest generational jump ever. Bigger than ps2/xbox ---> ps3/360

I don't think I'll be doing much racing straight up when I get this. I am going to take my time around each track and just take in the entire environment and everything gorgeous it has to offer.

I do apologise and I'll try to stay to left of the track (it's left in Australia anyway) at all times to avoid slowing others down :)

What scares me the most is that this is only the first year of this systems life and we're getting things like this.

And with scare, I mean excites the fuck out of me. :D

I really really hope this teaches some devs a lesson. Do not release your game early. This would have been an unmitigated disaster last year. Now it's looking to be a fucking masterpiece. DO not settle for less PLEASE.

"Driveclub graphics are roughly on par with Forza Motorsport 5 looks. I'd give the slight edge to Forza when making a mental comparison"
lol what an idiot i hope he doesn't review this game

This will definitely be the first game I ever buy a racing wheel for and play in dashboard mode for. It looks absolutely mind blowing. I can't at these pictures.

Forza 5 was dogpoop. The image quality on that game was absolutely obnoxiously horrible. I couldn't even begin to play the game because it looked so bad. Trying to say DC looks like F5 is just.... no words. The jaggies and pop-in, not to mention how bare everything looks, are just a few of F5's problems.

Can't say I'd go that far. Forza was a great game and had awesome driving feel. However this does look way prettier.

But unplayable dog mess? C'mon man! Haha

Why is the A-Pilar made out of jelly?

Edit: from min 2:00 it's really evident. lol.
Doesn't happen in the source video. Perhaps the YouTube uploader has been messed about with the video in an attempt to thwart copyright claims that match exact footage or something, like how some people try and pitch songs up or down to avoid content matching.

Here if gif from source video if you don't want to download them from. http://i.minus.com/i9iFXUBVJD3op.gif

On the Maserati video at night you can see on the dashboard the track control blinking when the car slides. Amazing attention to details.

also. my first post on GAF yay :)

Based on some other series, it could be reasonable to expect that in future title updates if the community interest is there. I've only ever done it a few times over the years, but it makes any driving experience punch above its weight. When that starting point is what we're seeing here, that sounds uncanny.

That's not from the game. I've seen it in several videos from other games (and in real-life footage). I think it's particular to a YouTube process they run on some videos.

Some people have the option to auto-motion-stabilize all the videos they upload to YouTube turned on by default.

Anyone from the beta, have we seen if there's a "playlist" style track hopper for club races? Other racing games have felt unnecessarily "broken up" during longer sessions with friends because we'd have to keep returning to menus to cue up the next race.

I'd love to see options so that races would just keep cycling through, with players being able to enter or leave without stopping the whole sessions for everyone. Sort of like old public Quake 2 servers were, actually.

I've always enjoyed racing games casually in the past, but this game has got to be one of my most anticipated titles in ages. It just looks incredible, and it seems to play just as good. I can't wait.

FML, I'm stuck on mobile for the whole week...

Can somebody rehost the first video on YouTube, please?
It seems to be gone, and I really need to hear the birds chirping!

I've been leaning towards getting a 900 series gpu this year and not a PS4...but every time new DC footage is released...
