Flower (PSN)

Can anyone help me...on the third level or fourth there is a wagon wheel, a couple of towers and a pond.

Now I know I'm suppose to light the pond up but I still haven't managed to do so through 3 run throughs...I don't know what I am missing. :/

You need to light up the dark patches on the ground.

Watch the cut scene carefully next time and it will be clear what you need to do.

You just have to circle the pond when you have the "power of the light" xD, for ex. when you need to light the grass before the pole "explosion"...

Hmm...conflicting advice here...:D

I have circled the pond but it just covers it with shiny flower particles...

I have put light to 3 different patches...the 3rd causes an electrical surge in the lines...

Watched a video, looks awesome! Is this on the Australian PSN store? If so for how much?!

Few questions:
- How long is it?
- I watched a vid, looks stunning but I don't really understand the gameplay too much. Can someone explain?
- Easy? Hard? How complex does it get? Level I saw was pretty simple (though I think it was the first level).

1. Not very long. I'd say maybe a hour or so depending on what you do.

2. You start out as a petal and you must bloom other flowers to awaken the land and grow.

3. It's quite simple, unless you attempt some of the trophies. It never is too difficult, and you can't lose or win, really.

I didn't circle , I just flew straight across it and did it before lighting up the patch of grass so my power didn't expire.

why are you guys cheating with the Secret Trophy? :(
Trophies that require you to play for certain amount of time or not to play for a certain amount of time are stupid. Especially when they don't tell you what the requirements for those trophies are then you're going around doing everything hoping you'll activate whatever the hidden trophies are.

To be honest I regret reading about that trophy. It would have been awesome to actually be surprised when getting it.

Stop playing right now. And call a doctor.

:D , it's just that the controls for this game feel so exhilarating, I'm now wondering if I can get the same enjoyment from playing Wii games, I was a bit dubious before about motion controls but they work so well in this game.

I got everything except the Stars trophy now. The worst part is that you know you're missing something but you don't know where. The best part is that I could probably play this all day.

Out of 15 or so games I tried, I got that kind of enjoyment from SMG, and not much else - the thing is, SMG is not even so heavy on motion controls, it's just how the whole gravity feedback works. On the same note, I think Flower wouldn't lose much of how you feel about it even if it didn't have motion controls. The reason it feels so exhilarating is how the experience is presented visually and aurally, the way the grass sways when you fly through it, the way the perspective shifts as you start accelerating etc. The controls definitely help though.

This game is making me consider purchasing a Wii, is that wrong ?

even the good games of the competition sell Nintendo consoles? Nintendo are really unstoppable this gen P

Awesome game. And couldnt make anyone some in-game screenshots of a few levels? =(
I played through it twice and keep thinking about which scenes/motions would be awesome as wallpaper. I was flying up and down in a spiral for over 10 minutes in different angles just to watch all the flower petals fly through the wind. God.. I would so pay for a screenshot feature =(

If anyone is interested in a few already existing pics... the best I could google:

have you tried Warhawk?

So I played the first level last night. It's peaceful and the graphics are beautiful -- my girlfriend enjoyed watching it. Is there any scoring to this? Can you lose? I never let my petals hit the ground to avoid 'losing' if it was possible... but is there more to this 'game?' Or is just supposed to be very user friendly and a visual treat?

Keep going is all I can tell you. Hitting the ground won't lose you any petals. There's gonna be some challenge later on. Also, finding hidden blue flowers and getting trophies is where the challenge will come from.

I have a Wii.

There are almost no Wii games that use motion this well.

dammit - i can't find one last secret flower on level 3 or 4, it's the one with the wagon wheel and the illuminating ponds - can anyone give me some advice on finding them?

Easiest thing is to do a search on Youtube. Actually seeing the locations is better than any description.

Should be on the AU store as it's on the other PAL countries. Can't help with the price tho. It's 8 euros in europe.

It's quite short, There are 6 levels, you can probably beat it in 2 hours. If you don't hunt trophies, that is.

Think the Snake game meets Okami

Not hard, you can't die, not really complex either. It's really straightforward and relaxing. As for point 2, trophies aren't easy to get tho.

1st flower - wagon wheel

2nd flower - there are 2 hay bales that are behind the haystacks, go to the one on the right side and it's behind the hay bale

3rd flower - light up the second pond (I did it before I lit up the last patch of grass)

Hope this helps!

Finished the game last night - need to get the 'pure' and 'urban' trophies :D

One of my favorite games on the PSN. Hope they release a soundtrack for this game - so beautiful.

so this game is simply stunning! I just got to the fourth level. But question, IGN said that the game has a great story "if you take the time to listen", what is that story?

I thought Urban was the one you got just for beating it. I only got three trophies and that was one of 'em.

I really agree with this, the motion controls really don't add anything for me. I've been brainwashed into the sticks, but I wish that were an option.

Use a third party controller? Doesn't that make map motion controls to the analog sticks?
No if a third party controller doesn't have Sixaxis, it doesn't have Sixaxis. It doesn't remap it.

I'm pretty sure that thatgamecompany did the motion controls for a reason. I'm sure at one point they had the game coded in such a way where you could play with the sticks, and they felt it wasn't good enough.

Well, someone did that with Lair and it worked.

I'm not complaining about the sixaxis implementation, I love it. Just saying.

I only have the 10,000 flowers bloomed trophy left to unlock.
Any idea how long it'll talk to unlock? Or which stage is the best?
I figured the sixth stage has a whole lotta flowers in the beginning.

Shouldn't take that long to get. I think I played every level twice, then went back and played the 3rd and 6th level one more times while trying to get a secret petal and the urban trophy and it unlocked before i finished the level.

This might be considered a bit off topic bit here goes, I was watching/listening to this and it really made me think of Flower (of course the name of the track helps) but also the lyrics and especially the video, watch the end you'll see what I mean.

Also according to wiki this track was used in a video called 'The Future Of Gaming by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe', which is listed as the winner in the Ambient Media category on the D&AD Showreel 2002. (I would of liked to of seen that video but can't find it anywhere)

Anyway Enjoy

I actually love the motion controls they have here, to me it adds to the experience, and it could easily have been a detriment if they were poorly implemented. They have some nice acceleration curves for controls, as well as certain snap-to-path / auto aim when it's needed. I think a lot of thought and work went into this actually.

Speevy said:
Right, this was before that.
I know exactly what you're talking about, but that worked with USB controllers, and only because the game was programmed to do that. It doesn't work with Flow, for example.

Ah yes, love that song.

I've unlocked every trophy, except for the one week break one, which I plan on unlocking the real way.

By the way, the Pure trophy is easy as hell, just literally don't press anything during the slalom run and stay all the way up and you won't get touched. I got it on my first try just doing that.

Anyone remember how long it was between FlOw releasing and when the expansion came out?

There is so much potential for a Flower expansion. Sure, nothing will top the combined, narrative experience of playing through the original six levels, but it would be great to see more environments, and maybe even a side story or two.

finally got it and is positively smitten
this is so fantasia 2000
had to stop playing after stage 2 cuz i didn't want it to end so fast :X
