Forza 5: The Glorious Photomode Topic

Okay, thanks :) I thought I was going crazy and seeing things for a moment there.

For the record, I second the "Farrow was right" conclusion..

I was mistaken to agree, you were actually mistaken. Your reference photos for that last comparison are weird.

I think we need to start the thread over. Not a single person has posted any new photos after the OP. Not one. Its just devolved into nitpickers nitpicking.

No bigshots ??
and what's with mandatory tagging of the pics, the game won't even fill the obvious info for you (car, track etc)

The only game that makes me want to buy a Xbox One. 2 years and you'll be mine bby. Hopefully another Forza comes out by then.

Dat Beetle though.

Some of these look indistinguishable from reality, lovely. Others have a clear 'gamey' look to them. It's a matter of nailing all the extra little visual effects that go into making things life-like, this generation. No longer really a matter of texture detail or polygon count as much as last gen.

As good as this game looks, browsing this thread makes me sad that games will probably never look like real life. I thought we'd be there by now, but we're a long way off.

OMFG!! early morning X-BONER here :D

I can't believe you just quoted a chain of 21 images... LOL..!

Homespace shots look great but I'm not seeing a lot of difference between FM4 and FM5 with the on-track action images. Is lighting 'better' somehow in the homespace?

Is there only one homespace?

well, when I get aroused, I do things.. :D

on track also look fuckin'great.. I wont quote again, but check the blue ford gt, the veyron on top of spa, the chrome nsx with the golden gtr..
I challenge you to do this on FM4 and compare ;p

ps
on a scale of 1 to 10, my disgust for amazon incompetence costing me a forzaless weekend is like 1000000^1000000 right now :D

Well, you're asking the impossible with Spa and chrome cars because those weren't in FM4, but apart from some extra model detail in the Ford GT image, that one could have come straight from FM4. I guess it's an indication of how good FM4 photomode was coupled with diminishing returns on next gen.

Hi guys, please don't kick my ass if I ask this question here, but noone was able to address this question in supposedly-more-pertinent threads.
Anyone in this thread can tell me if NEED FOR SPEED: RIVALS has a photo-mode like FORZA5 and like NFS:HOT PURSUIT?
I'd like to start screenshotting a next gen title and I'd like to know if FORZA5 is the only one at present with a classic photo-mode with all the adjustments it allows in FOV, focus etcetera.

Thanks for any hint/suggestion! ;D

;)
having this multiple texture thing (that works), better lighting and the best possible bump in resolution (while keeping a pristine 1080p/60), i think that about sums up what one can expect from a day1 forza in gfx updates. after all, graphics is not the number one thing forza series offers. the are other, more simple racing games better suited for that.

I am sure forza horizon next year will have even better shaders and lighting and aa, and forza 6 after that even better etc.

(ps check the fm4 yellowbird against the above)

I said god damn !

Some self-shadowing would work wonders here (and in the RS200 engine posted earlier). The detail is to be applauded but there's something slightly 'off'. It's hard to describe - the components appear to float, or to have be shopped in from elsewhere with different lighting. I guess there's no cohesion, or something.

(Definitely NOT a diss of your legendary photographic skills, by the way G-man).

As you said, similar to FM4's Autovista, there's absolutely no self shadowing. This is what's missing there as everything is lighted in the same way which creates this floating aspect.

I don't know of a list but I watched the intro career introductions and noticed some cars had great details or they showed close up shots of the engine. I know the Ford GT 40 can be fully opened as well because they show it in the intro.

The interior of the F40 looks really good with texture on the dash finally !

I guess i'm too accustomed to years of GT5 / F4 autovista and photomode shots, because these don't do anything to wow me. These games have looked jaw-dropping in their respective photomodes for years now.

I used to kind of (foolishly) hope that we would be able to get photomode-level IQ as actual in-game graphics with next-gen.

GT7, we need you!

Are those screenshots in the first post in-game graphics? They're absolutely stunning imo.

No. Photomode.

don't have much to contribute yet

now, this is how you do matte paint :P

HDR reflection maps in homespace really make a difference though

Nice shot eso!

Awesome set G Rom. I love that Veyron shot at the top of the hill, had to take a car to Spa after seeing it lol.

These two came out a bit dark (my monitor was setup wrong) but I kinda like how they came out.
