First hour impressions:

This is great!!! And the fun factor is definitely here!

Visuals are varied, sometimes awesome and sometimes so-so.

Getting a rare stutter here and there in the city area on a 4090 with 7800x3D with Extreme RT. Same thing occasionally when it goes from cutscene to driving. Otherwise always above my TVs 60hz limit.

The body type 1,2,3 is dumb. The differences are tiny with the baggy default clothes, have to turn the camera to even notice the breasts on body type 2 and only difference I could spot between 1 and 3 was a tilted hip on 3. Hair styles are a joke too, and not a single male hairline with longer hair, it's all lady hairs. And zero beard. And everybody looks young, barely even 20. Not impressed!

Besides that. Cool cool cool ! Can't wait to explore this world!

FH5 had a million people on the in-game leaderboard before the street date. This might even top that.

I'm also getting a rare stutter on my 4090 Intel 14900.

Seems to happen after cutscenes and when I start driving in a new area.

Benchmark was able to max out my 120hz TV in Extreme RT settings, so you have tons of overhead with your TV!
 
All that hype around the progression system was a bait, the game awards you with cash and supercars left and right. Also the flashbangs when wheelspins stop is so retarded and unnecessary.

Maybe it's a SSD load problem? 4K+ExtremeRT could occasionally be too much data for a pcie4 mb and 990 Pro perhaps?

I don't think it's greedy OTOH. You're getting a massive environment with over 500 cars. Endless hours of driving. And then you get the expansions when they come out. Which are usually top tier in themselves.

Ill personally get thousands of hours of enjoyment for that payment.

I can go out for a meal with the MRS and spend over £100 these days and that's over in an hour or two.

Yeah these games are always meaty.
But I went with the cheaper premium upgrade route over Gamepass. Not my usual strategy but I thought I can always buy the game later when it's on sale if I feel like I need to own it.
 
I will say the intro and the first qualifier don't give the best first impression. Mexico was much more interesting. Honestly I just remember long straights from 6 but I know I'm gonna lose like 800+ hours in this game.

I can see why some reviews were like, its more Horizon, but there's nothing else to rival it. It does feel very formulaic now but it is excellent at what it does. It would be nice to see some originality or innovation injected into the modes or extra things. But you can never be disappointed

I think once people start building together and creating we will see the difference with this one over what's been before. The tools they have given us this time seem way better.

Yeah it doesn't have anything to do with woke, the avatars have been shite since always. It's clear there's an extra beloved artist (for some fucked up reason we don't know) at PG, because in any other studio that person would have been fired a long time ago.

That's how it used to be in the past, and it was ridiculous. But it's not like that anymore, mostly.

Now folders can be placed wherever you want and are no longer locked behind system permissions. You can open them, view the files, and often mod them or install Reshade, just like with Steam games.

Some older or specific titles remain locked, especially those with strict anti-cheat, and some games are still a bit more restrictive than Steam regarding certain files like exe files. Still, it's nothing like it used to be I mainly use Steam, but I haven't had many technical issues with Xbox/GP titles in the last couple of years.

It's trash character design tbh, I don't understand what they're doing. And even my teenage daughter sat there laughing outloud during character creation so it's not like they're aimed at young people either. It's just ugly design, ugly hair, ugly faces, ugly clothes, ugly animations too.

And seriously. The designers don't even have to do much, just have the racers wear a helmet at all times and all would be good. The Stig, all of them. There I fixed it.

This whole install process for this game is from hell. I was close to refund...but managed it somehow to get it run. Steam is full with people who dont get it running.

Now in the game...I am happy again. Driving feels more weighty than FH5. I like it. And the sound of the cars is way more meatier/angry as well. Also like it! :messenger_ok:

AMD CPU here, 7800x3D. I can see occasional stutters when it goes from cutscene to driving. As said above I'm wondering if it's the ssd. But idk. Saw a little bit during driving in the city in the intro race too.

I have another PC with a 9950x3D and 5090 too, can try that tonight if can get that beefy thing installed in time.

Absolutely; they really didn't have to put in much effort at all to make it infinitely better. Imagine the quality of the rest of the game... It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I need to know the story of how this came to be...

It's a good thing I pretty much love everything else.

I'll wait for the regular release since I have GP, and I'll buy the premium edition at a cheaper price if the DLCs are good.

Same here, odd stutter coming out of the race cutscenes to gameplay etc. Not all the time and then it's fine in gameplay. I have a AMD CPU as well. Might try my Intel and report back
 
I played the first hour so far. It looks and runs great. The character customization is a bit silly. There's one whole menu for prostetics and one whole menu for hearing aids of different colors. But aside from that 5 second eye roll the game has been a lot of fun.
