Season 2 is pretty much a go, and you can creep in as a zombie

Ever dreamed of being a zombie? Now's your chance, with AMC's The Walking Dead Sweepstakes. Submit the online form and you'll be entered in a random drawing to win a four-day, three-night trip to the location of The Walking Dead’s Season 2 production, plus the opportunity to become one of the undead in a Season 2 episode of The Walking Dead. (Exact specifics of the walk-on role will be determined at the producer’s sole discretion.) The sweepstakes will run from Tuesday, July 20, through Sunday, August 15. Entrants may enter the sweepstakes one time only throughout the entire sweepstakes period.

Yeah, these are the pics from the 75th issue. Awesome stuff.

And yeah, S2 is a foregone conclusion, I think. Especially since AMC fully owns the show.

:O

Comic-Con. I think the WD panel is on Saturday.
It's Friday.

I'll tell you all about it :lol

(no, actually I won't make it, since I don't have a 4 day pass and the line for this particular panel will be hours long and I have to wait to get my individual day pass :( )

Is it safe to assume that Season 2 will be the
Prison/Governor
arc?

EDIT: Sorry, i didn't think it was that big of a deal.

Oh cool spoilers! I know it's pretty vague and I'm not usually a huge bitch, but at least give us some courtesy tags.

Have they said whether the show will be a half hour, or hour long? I forget :\

It has a 60 minute runtime according to all the tv trade sources.

IIRC, Darabont mentioned that they will reach COMIC BOOK SPOILERS WHICH WILL HAPPEN ON THE SHOW
The Prison towards the end of S2.

If they keep to that, I would imagine The Governor would show up in the middle of S3, with the war going down towards the end of S3.

It's an hourlong drama.

Not a half-hour comedy :lol .

Still, stranger things have happened, with some good shows only getting a half hour at a time. I figured it was an hour, but its the TV business.

But like what though?

Only half hour drama I can think of off the top of my head is In Treatment.

I could see this show being a huge hit for AMC. Zombies are extremely huge in pop culture right now. Not to mention the source material is universally praised in the comic community, and AMC has a good track record for putting forth quality tv shows. And of course people are just going to be looking for something spooky to watch in October. All eyes are going to be on this one to deliver.

I'm glad this was turned into tv series, I don't think the story could be done properly with the short amount of time films have.

AMC adds ‘Walking Dead’ cast

AMC announced that Michael Rooker ("Jumper") and Norman Reedus ("The Boondock Saints") have been added to the cast of its eagerly anticipated fall series "The Walking Dead."

Additional new cast members: Andrew Rothenberg (Jim), Juan Pareja (Morales), Iron E. Singleton (T-Dog), Jeryl Prescott Sales (Jacqui), Melissa McBride (Carol) and Adam Minarovich (Ed); all of whom are members of the “survivor’s camp.”
Link.

There might be some errors in here (not 100% sure on all of these), but I think these are pics of the actors:

Michael Rooker should be in everything.

Oh man I want Tyreese now not season 2! :( also hope S2 is a full 13 episodes.

I would imagine S2 will be. A number of shows have had short first seasons in recent years. I wouldn't worry about it.

I still wish they gave Shane's actor a police cap in the promo shot. Only thing that bothers me. :lol

Getting closer now. Wonder how they'll take the story as Kirkman gave them the go ahead to just use the comics as a guideline pretty much.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't make S2 a full 13. I'm just curious when they'd show it. Mad Men and Rubicon in the late Summer, BB in the Spring, and maybe TWD becomes their Fall show? Depends on the shooting schedule and how they want to market everything, I guess.

Seemingly, they're trying to rotate new shows at all time. At least 1 original show on every week, I would hope (13 episodes X 4=52 weeks a year). But, them putting Rubicon after Mad Men sort of shot that down, at least for now.

But yes, I would think Walking Dead S2 would start to air right after, or not too much after, the end of Mad Men.

Woah!

Pretty major change detailed in that interview.

SPOILER

Shane won't die so quickly?

LOVE TRIANGLE!

Edit:

Basic cable has fewer content restrictions than broadcast, but there are still some. What have you run into in terms of the gore?

None. Surprisingly, none. We’re not finding that we’re having to pull our punches in what we’re shooting, which is a tremendous pleasure.

Our biggest drawback is that we can’t say “fuck.” I’m allowed other swear words. There’s a limit to how many, but you know what? It’s an interesting discipline. It’s like defaulting to a certain pair of cargo pants every day when you get dressed; you wind up relying too much on that kind of language as a writer. When you’re forced to be very choosy, it’s actually a fantastic exercise. It’s a great discipline. I’m finding I’m coming in under the word count of what I’m allowed. It’s forcing me to write more artfully. And it’s kind of cool that way. It’s not just the default mechanism of saying “shit” in every sentence. I can say it four times if I want to, and that winds up being interesting.

It's so backwards how extreme violence is okay, but "shit" more than 4 times isn't.

Yeah I had a feeling this major change would happen since every TV show needs this at some point. As long as the event takes place, I have no problem with it.

Yeah, I kind of figured they would do that. My bet is they'll drag it out for the 6 episodes and then it will end on that note.

SPOILERS

You know, I think I'm fine with keeping Shane around a bit longer. Shane got killed as soon as he went nuts. Having it go a little slower, drag it out a bit more, and play up the Shane/Lori angle more, I'm cool with it.

A change like this I'm fine with.

REALLY HUGE MAJOR SPOILER

As long as Carl is still the one to put him down :p.

I think you're misremembering.

Shane died in issue 6 of the comic. So, presumably, he'll be still be around in S2 of the show.
