vive la france

And the DS hype train gains momentum in Europe. France is onboard, who else will join?

Animal Crossing going ↑ everywhere!

Is Nintendo begining to fight back the Sonyland™®© oppressors and reclaim its glory, and crown?

Error

Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp
DSlite will probably push the DS brand to the stratosphere in Europe.

Thank goodness UK is a much larger market than France and we normally see double the amount of PSP games in the top 40 than DS games.

So that check is going to look like a horrible typo come a year or 2 from now.

thats due to EVERYONE giving away PSP's and 360's like no one's business. almost every off shoot phone company and phone store, competitions, pepsi everyone is giving them away!!

so people have to buy games for their free hardware.
Also UMD is stacked everywhere. (Note i said stacked not sold!!)

Yeah, poor Nintendo, Sony had such a big monopoly with PS2 and GBA.

Wait...

GBA never really had a massive grip on the market in many parts of Europe. and would rarely have high charting games, unless a big release

Nintendo's Pro Bono PR Firm
I just can't imagine what will happen when Brain Training is released in France. This is the typical game that french people love. It will sell millions here, just like in Japan. All my family is hooked with this game already, and the Sudoku phenomena will transform into irrational sales for the DS/Brain training combo.

Bravo la France! Vous avez du bon goût.
Thanx :D

Since the super famicom, Nintendo sales have always been strong (if not spectacular....:) ) in France so there's nothing really new here

Yep, this is the main point in all these comparisons between the GBA and DS. The DS seems to be pushing much more hardware (in Japan / Europe) than the GBA ever did, I know things are quiet on the console front at the moment but still I don't think we've ever seen 5 GBA games in the top 10 in Europe or 7-8 in the top 10 in Japan before.

And Brain Training isn't even here yet ;-)

That is how it used to be, now DS > PSP in the UK. Animal Crossing is huge in te UK.
UK is now all about 360 and NDS.

Umm did you see last week's chart? Double amount of PSP games yet again. It hasnt changed, dont let anyone try to fool you into believing otherwise.

Oh sure, GBA was a failure. Come on....

no it wasn't a failure in any way shape or form. BUT the DS is beginning to outperform what was one of the standards for sales! That takes some doing, to outsell the GBA you needed to be a Playstation Brand. Now the DS may go someway to outselling the mighty PS2, especially once it hits $99/£69/€99 worlwide and the old GBA crowd take it on too

djtiesto

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
Nice showing for DQ8... this game needs to sell copies to everyone who owns a PS2, the game is just that damn good.

Gulp. France loves the Nintendo DS. I don't remember when Nintendo had in the past 5/10 in an Europe's Chart since......too much time !!

Actually, last weeks chart had 2 exclusive DS titles (Animal Crossing at 3 and Tetris at 39) and one exclusive PSP title (GTA at 30). And the weeks prior, Gaybrush and the Colonel have shown that HW was also DS > PSP. If you said YTD, you might have a point, but DS has been doing well in the UK more recently.

Thank goodness the rest of Europe as a whole is a larger market than the Uk.
That comment is going to like one made by some poster no-one liked and was only never banned because he was comedic gold in weekly media create threads.

What’s the big surprise with DS' success? France has always been Nintendo Land, UK it’s the real test for the dual screened console.

Well, UK is a large market, but not the largest in Europe: perhaps France is smaller, but Germany sure not. And you must think that, at the end, it is the combination of all Countries that made a machines successful or not. Sure Nintendo DS is a big success in Europe, not as big as in Japan, but bigger then in USA.

Sure it could outperform it (and PS2) but on your sarcastic (I hope) first message you said they are now fighting back in sonyland...its domestic sonyland and handheld nintendoland, as everywhere else.
