Full Sonic Wii demo level footage (WOW)

Sonic Wii is really impressive, though that wall segment looked stupid.

I was hoping this game was what Sonic PS3/360 would be like, then they went and showed Shadow driving around in an SUV. I bet Sega will find a way to fuck this game up too before release :(

Indeed, it looks like they took those special stages and made them fun (yeah i hated them). In the end i can see myself playing stages over and over to get better and better times, just like in nights!

Nights required skills.

This Sonic doesn't look like it does.

You've played the whole game? please tell me how it is, who's the final boss, how many stages, etc etc?

This is GAF - people don't need to have played the whole game, part of the game or even seen the game to pass final judgement

The same goes for people defending the game no matter what, right? :)

Very true, more importantly n-bots who love this now because it's on Wii.

I think the PS3 is the better Sonic they just need to really really polish it up before release.

Sonic for PS3/XBOX 360 looks much better.......but you can't know until you play it yourself...
How it LOOKS is one thing, but it plays like crap. I enjoyed Wild Fire a billion times more than the 360 version I played.

Uh, no. Not in a million fucking years.

Shadow in an SUV.

I silver hedgehog named....Silver who has powers from Psi-Ops.

Just saying.

So is this Wii Sonic on rails confirmed? Hate being restricted to one plane. I still haven't seen a 3D sonic game yet try to duplicate the feel of the 2D games.

It is on rails (you steer side to side) but from playing the demo, I'd say this replicates the feel of the 2-D games quite nicely. The final version should be even better, as I imagine we'll get boss fights, branching paths, and some more little sections like the ledge that break up the speed a little bit.

I was reading the other locked Sonic thread, and I realizied that People don't realize that Sonic has alot of platforming in it. Go back to the original Sonic the Hedgehog, and play either act 1 or 2 of Mabel zone. Thier is no way you can just speed through those levels. Now Sonic 2 did add more speed element but it wasn't just holding down the joypad and going left or right and jumping.
I will say I do like the look of Sonic wild fire, even if it is on rails. Then again I like the look of the Sonic portion the x-box360/Ps3 Sonic too. I know alot of people hate the extra characters, but starting all the way back with Sonic 2, Sega added extra character. Heck, playing knuckles was the big draw for Sonic and knuckles. So the new characters are nothing new to the Sonic universe. I Just think some old school gamers tend to get in a uproar, becuase they think it should be this way or that becuase of thier childhood. Timers change.
I will mention that not even Mario is exactly like he was in the old 2d world. It wasn't about finding music notes, shines or star, but getting to the flag at thge end of the level. 2d is hard to do in 3d. So if you have to put sonic on rails, so be it.

I hope all the new sonic games turn out well, like Mario sunshine, mario 64, and Mario galaxy. I say this becuause, besides the original super Mario Bros. the original sonic is one of the most replayable 2d game to me. I can replay both games over and over.

For me the most replayable Sonic game is without a doubt Sonic CD. That thing is like the concept of the original Sonic but expanded by like 50 times. Such great platforming pinball goodness to be had in that game.

On topic though:

Silver actually looks kind of fun to control, looking at the Gamespot playable footage. His control sensitivity is turned way down compared to Sonic, which was one of the things that borked the not Sonic SA cast because they were all twitchy as heck with gameplay mechanics that didn't really work at well as they should because of it.

As for Shadow, well, I can choose not to use guns and vehicles, and the silver hope is centered around the fact that this is Sonic Team Japan, not USA. With Shadow all they had to do was make him the Sonic equivalent of Dante. Make him 'combat' focused, adn give him heavy use of choas control. Look at the things he can do in the Isometric Sonic Fightign game for the GBA, and think about a way to translate those sort of things into 3D and you've got the direction they should have taken with Shadow. But oh well.

I'm actually suprised that they included him at all in the game, seeing as the abortion of Shadow the Hedgehog sold decently, I figured they would spin him off into his own series. But they have wrecked the character entirely, and he ahd such potential to.

so no Tails, Amy or Knuckles or too early to tell? It would be amazing if we had that SA diversity in gameplay again only this time fixed. - PS3 Sonic.

Crab confirmed. Commence attacking weakspot.

Not as good as playing ey JH?

Come on IGN get some Direct Feed, enough of this off screen BS.

I'll admit, I had fun playing the game - but not nearly as much as the 35 min I spent in line talking to the girl working the demo ;)

I don't know, I was just standing there on line, a few people back.. when she comes up to me and said that she saw me there (in the Wii booth) yesterday also - I guess she liked enough what she saw to comment, so we chatted it up untill it was my turn.

Needless to say by the time I finally got the controller in my hand, I utterly sucked at it becasue I didn't pay attention on how to play :lol

But I did beat it, and I can still tell you hands down it trumps the PS3 Sonic - man, that was a broken mess.

Well, I don't think anyone has direct feed footage of the game, and IGN's video quality for E3 stuff was pretty damn good in my opinion.

I really want to see what more levels are going to look like. Hopefully there are a bunch, and hopefully they have branching paths and varied environments.

I guess it looks cool. It's not the sonic I know and love, but it looks more akin to a 3D version of the old Sonic 3 and Sonic 2 bonus stages, where the running was automated, and all you had to do was jump or destroy hazards and collect blue things and rings.

I can definitely see it being massive fun. The gameplay vid even made my heart beat.

However, it isn't a platformer, or a explorative game. It's a BONUS STAGE OF SONIC, NOT SONIC ITSELF.

Haha, The Monkey Ball chick was like that with me :lol With Sonic I just wanted to play it and skip that intructions sequence.

Yeah the PS3 Sonic was broke alright, It was damn near impossible to get him to slide on the rails, the camera was just wrong and that new character is meh as.

Wild Fire FTW

The game overall was 'back to the roots' and the sense of speed was there. I'm not historically a sonic fan, but I appreciate what this game is trying to do.

This is the Sonic I think most fans of the of the series from its 2-D days have been waiting for. Somehow Sega spent the last 10 years trying to figure it out.

Graphically it was very nice, but it looked like it would get old quick. I'm figuring this is what the Tony Hawk Wii title will be. Huge ass runs, crazy speeds and lots of jumps.
