This is the first year I just went in blind instead of my usual research before selecting choices, so I'll probably be all over the map. I want to come back to the GAF Oscar Pool streak I had for a few years though :(

Alright GAF... how'd the rest of you do?
I pulled off a clean sweep on all of the feature films but flubbed both the animated and live-action short categories to finish off with 22 out of 24 in my picks (98% score based on the OP scoring format).

Anyone else manage to top that or am I taking home the prize?

haha, yeah. i knew this year would be bad i jumped in at the last second and just selected randomly.

next year i'll return to my old method that made me win the oscar pool like three years in a row when I first started posting on GAF >:)

I forget how well I did but man did I whiff on some of them. I think my biggest miss was lead actor. Grats to Alright alright alright though.

I think I got 19~20 wins. A disappointingly predictable year. It's more fun when you don't really know what's coming.

Dammit UberTag (ViewtifulJC too).

What was my score? I vote against movies I actually wanted to win.

71 points, 15 good guesses.

Yay! I get to brag now.
Actually, bragging because I know the way a bunch of old senile farts in the Academy think isn't something to be proud of.

So instead I will humbly congratulate these guys who were close...

Yeah, you guys. Good job.

I will do my best to defend my title next year as I'm sure Amir0x won't be half-assing it again.

Bobby got 62 points from 14 guesses. So much for being right. :p

Heh.

I was right-ish. That's pretty good.

Ish.

But yeah, I ate shit early and was done by like, 6pm.

I shoulda got the Lupita thing. Didn't think it through: Basically - I transferred the extra love for the movie to director instead of Supporting Actress. McConnaissance suppresses Chiwetel's love, but the acting HAS to be rewarded - and JLaw just won, so she can take the hit so as to reward Lupita

I also figured everyone would just forget about Gatsby because it was so long ago, comparatively.

But I think the larger point still stood (including the advice I myself didn't really follow) - follow the Awards Watch sites, and keep in mind that voters don't vote for what's good - they vote for what will make them feel better about themselves for having contributed to the "story" of that years Oscars.

I got a couple people to win their Oscar pools with that list, though. Sorry Kaeptain. :) And if needed, I get to fall back on the greatest cop-out ever invented, by one of the best screenwriters to ever live:

"Nobody knows anything" - William Goldman.

Congrats to UberTag & the rest of the top 5.
