A couple of pics from the cameraphone to start off the new year:

Taken a few days ago. The 70-200 F4 IS is so amazing. I'll admit I upgraded from a rubbish zoom lens to this and that makes a huge difference, but this lens is impressive against any competition

Really nice shot!

I would like some opinions/suggestions on the way this picture looks. I was in Norway for holidays and only took a couple of pictures in the night when it was really dark so I was trying to save a RAW image but I was thinking I might have overdone it with post-processing. I had a friend with PS skills help me but maybe it's too much?

From today. I was scouting locations for a possible movie a friend wants to film. Took that chance to shoot some photos for myself...

And a new one from me taken today

Love all these shots.

Been working so much recently:( been out to shoot a couple of times but it's been hard going with mostly crap light. Working from 8 (when it's dark) until 4 (when it is dark again) really limits my photography to night and lunch at work.

Anyways....

Not sure my pics are up to the quality standards of this thread, but I posted a pic in the equipment megathread that lead to some quality feedback, so I'm going to give it a shot.

Posting a pair of pics I took at the Wisconsin - Illinois game this weekend. Critique away!

I've had my dslr for a bit over a year, so I'm very much an amateur. No touch-up work beyond simple cropping.

holy shit at everthing on this page. Very very well done everyone.

Im going to NYC this weekend. Hoping to have something pretty for you guys to look at on monday.

I recently bought a used 1Ds Mark II and I'm floored with almost everything about this camera: the details, sharpness, picture quality, AF speed/accuracy and the huge viewfinder; it's a real joy to use even though it's almost a dinosaur in the DSLR market.
The only real drawbacks are the tiny and quite miserable LCD display and the lack of a dust removal feature.

So here are some pictures I took with it:

Dude... Dude. This could be a background in a Windows release.

I had a chance to do a set of family photos just after Christmas. It being winter, we decided to head to the beach and really embrace the seasonal colours and tones. As you can probably tell, these were taken at the same time as the photo at the top of this page.

Well, got my first wedding in May. Gonna finally step out of my comfy 50mm zone and drop some cash on a Tamron 17-50 and a flash.

Looking at the 430 right now, but I'm wondering if you guys know of anything comparable in the same price range. Help?

All my landscape snow shots from the last few days have turned out rubbish, so instead I went for something a little... different

Very striking. A little too high contrast/saturation for my tastes, but... my goodness, those eyes!

:)

Well, I'm new here, and I'm getting into photography, so I figured I could post a few shots that I took over the last couple months...

I know it's somewhat out of focus, but I sort of love the motion blur, the ball carrier was as fast as a cheetah.

Nice, love the pic even if a little too saturated for my taste, still an amazing shot.

Thanks both.

I was going for something a bit stronger with a HDR tone to it. It's not my usual style so I may have over cooked it, but I'm still incredibly happy with the result given we were standing in a mini-blizzard :)

My little man playing some XBOX with his older brother. They were having an awesome time.

This camera impresses me the more I use it.

Some great work in this thread so far this year.

Someone mentioned flashes above. I know I have been looking into the Yongnuo 568 ex as a cheap alternative to Canon's own flash range. Does anyone have any experience with Yongnuo gear?

I've got a Yongnuo flash. I'm happy with it, especially for the price.

I'm thinking about getting one myself as a second unit to work with my 480exII, what would you guys recommend considering it wont be used as my main? I want to use both for studio shots as well as social events, my idea is to set them up on stands facing the ceiling during wedding receptions and ceremonies while i move around freely snaping shots.

It really bums me out that I live in such a beautiful place and I am stuck taking pictures with my cell phone. I will most likely be investing in a new camera this year so I can finally do a better job of capturing Lake Tahoe's beauty. These are cell phone pics, sorry about the quality :/ I was going to enhance them all in PS but ended up not doing so.
