Not very good photos really (grainy as hell as I had underexposed the shot) but I managed to get a couple of shots of the International Space Station as it went past in orbit

Thanks Toddler!

...Heist's wall of awesome...
some with the iphone of the last couple weeks.
btw. since 5 months i didn't touched my dslr...

Yeah, I noticed that the other day. I went to look at your profile on Flickr and noticed you had stopped posting there completely. Amazing work nonetheless. I can't get enough of your post work.

I haven't seen you post photos in a long time, glad to see you back!

hehe thanks :)

yeah, i was kinda "burned" after taken 320+ day by day pictures for the project. specially the last 40 were wuite hard. Whole day at work and then getting a decent picture with low light wasn't possible. So i needed a brake. A huge brake of photography.
But in the next couple weeks i think i will get my hands on the dslr again. i hope.

I'm fairly new to photography, was wondering whether to post as there some intimidatingly good photos in here but hey. At Christmas my wife bought me a toy film camera and since then I've caught the bug and been trying out a lot of film cameras.

I have a lot to learn about composition and what makes an interesting shot but mostly I'm trying to see what cameras/lens/film suit me best, it's a lot of fun!

Beautiful.
That looks so much like Velvia 50 :)

Excellent post-processing on this one. Love the composition as well.

thanks.

Funny since that the first photo i've posted with my new camera, after using velvia for 2 years.
Just made a 16x20 of it, looks fantastic.

+ bending the light, experimenting, long-ish exposures, and seeing what I can burn onto my sensor.

Beautiful.

Out of curiosity, what was your light setup? The picture of the orange is f22 at 1/125. You must have had decent light for an exposure that 'quick' at that aperture.

This thread is a stark reminder how far I have to go to take shots I consider halfway decent. Everyone here takes some truly inspiring photos. I am still practicing taking pictures of my dog!

I have a 400W/s strobe shooting thru a 24" soft-box for all those. I don't remember the exact power cause I was jacking around with it but I think it was firing at half power most of the time. Also remember the inverse light falloff squared thingy. The light was very close t the subject and I was very close with my macro lens :)

Here is a pic of the setup:

I did also have a 2nd strobe gridded for some hard shadows but I didn't end up liking those as much.

I just picked up a D3100 this week. Any advice on what sites to go to that'll teach me the basics of shutter speeds and ISO ratings and whatnots?

This thread is incredible, thanks for posting such awesome pictures, everyone! Some of those shots definitely increase my wanderlust...
