Catherine: Full Body and XCOM 2 Collection rated for Nintendo Switch in South Korea.
I remember many of the games leaked via South Korea ratings board appeared to be real, so there's a big chance these games are real as well. We'll just have to wait and see.
I don’t know how XCOM 2 can run on the Switch. I know the game was a lot better after the War of the Chosen expansion, but it still chugged on my PC in places. That being said, if it runs fine, it’s an easy purchase for me.

Wasn't this one of the titles on some Atlus poll/survey a while back between Switch/PS4 and what users want?
I don´t know. I just know it would be a great fit for Switch. Atlus should have brought it on sooner. I hope they are starting to support the Switch now with Catherine, P5 (and the rest of the series, would love P2 on it too), Scramble and so on.

"Retro Studios has hired another pair of talented designers as it continues to work on Nintendo's Metroid Prime 4, according to a new report.

VGC says that Mark Capers, previously of New Super Lucky's Tale developer Playful, and James Beech, a designer who has worked on games like Crysis 3 and DC Universe Online, have both joined the company. The news follows a string of new hires for Retro which includes Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze lead designer, Stephen Dupree, and Halo series character modeller, Kyle Hefley.

The report notes that both Capers and Beech are set to work as environment designers in their new roles at the company; Retro's jobs page is also still advertising for a lead animator, senior designer, and many more.

At present, it's unclear whether or not Retro Studios is working on any other projects besides the new Metroid Prime release. It wasn't all that long ago that rumours surrounding a Retro-made Star Fox Grand Prix game were spreading like wildfire, with many believing them to be true, but we haven't seen anything official to confirm that such a game exists."

Direct is only getting announced when Outrageous-sama is unbanned. Free the furry!
What about that new Monolith Soft IP, eh?

"All accompanied by smug idiots calling the more enthusiast fans „entitled“ for it – mostly because those fans are interested in Animal Crossing, so that’s a pretty nice (/s) attitude, „Got mine“, basically."

"Combined with the aforementioned smug Direct-apologists, it really leaves a bitter taste in my mouth."

Fuckin "Direct Apologists" who don't think it's a big deal that Nintendo's latest videogame advertisement isn't out yet.

Looks like his Twitter account got suspended too.

I just want to know what they were working on before they took up Prime 4. New IP or a revived series? Did it get shelved, or is its release imminent? Just what on earth happened inside Retro during all that time?
These are good questions. Over the years I thought they were actually done with, though still hoping they would come up with something amazing out of the blue.

I wonder about stuff like this too.
Would love to see "behind the scenes" to get an idea of what these developers are working on and how it all comes together.
You'd have to think they are working on Donkey Kong Country or Metroid.

I don't get Atlus bullshit here. The audience for their games is also gaming on Switch. It's a no-brainer. If it were on Xbox I would have understand the need for a survey, but Switch? Which is already home to tons of quirky Japanese games?

I also fucking hate it when publishers knowingly fuck up a release on Switch, by delaying it (Dark Souls) or pulling some shit like LA Noire where a good chunk of the game isn't even on the cart. And then they act all surprised when it bombs and like "guess you don't want more of our games". I wouldn't be surprised if Atlus tries some bs with Catherine to "test the waters" and when it doesn't fly they stop giving a shit. Put some fucking effort into your releases and it will sell you cheap bastards.

A lot of people want to see this game (Persona 5) on the Switch, and there is no way we'll keep silent.

But, I am a bit perplexed to be honest. Seems they (the higher ups) at ATLUS don't have a clue about the love and want people have for these games. And this is from a standpoint of a Western gamer, not even a Japanese one where the Switch is more popular than the PlayStation 4.

Eh, I think Emily is just as much right as wrong. There hasn't been a direct in long enough that it's a safe prediction one is coming soon.
Even being right as little as 50% of the time would still suggest that she has some connection, which she clearly does. I don't even think that's up for dispute. She's not just guessing at stuff, and the stuff that she has gotten right wasn't "sorta right" or "right if you interpret it another way" etc. When she's right, she's right. The times when she has shared something and then it didn't happen is what I would consider unavoidable given who her source could be and the lack of authority they have over these things.

Basically, I believe she has a friend on the NoA marketing team. It's mostly conjecture because those people don't make the decisions on stuff, but they have to work on a ton of things that may never see daylight. So they're obviously in the "know" on lots of stuff, but that stuff, along with proposed dates, can change on a whim based on NoJ.

Frankly, with as rotten as people are, I'm just glad she continues to share anything at all.

Sick of this attitude towards releasing games on Nintendo systems. "Ooooh you gotta fight for it, you really gotta blow us up on Twitter and shit to get the opportunity to pay us money for a product."
At this point, I find such campaigns condescending as all and literally pointless. Don't want to release Persona 5 on the Switch? Fine, then we'll pick up one of the half dozen Final Fantasy games, or Ys 8, or Xenoblade Chronicles 2, or #Fe, or Fire Emblem Three Houses, or Star Ocean First Departure, or... this list can literally go on for quite time at this point. The system isn't starving for Rpgs at all. Best part is, few of these games required Nintendo fans to grovel at anyone's feet, and many of these games found decent to great success on the system.

It all depends on how much you want to see something appear. If it wasn't for Operation Rainfall, Xenoblade Chronicles would've stayed in Japan. I do believe you have to make yourself heard. However, I think it is important not to go too far into such things, as it can indeed distract you from the great games already on the system, as well as upcoming gems.

Also saying people will buy it is worth nothing. Its easy for people to say that. Will they actually buy it? Who knows.

I don't know about Xenoblade Chronicles but I bet that game would have come anyways. It was a huge project. Critically acclaimed and on one of the most popular platforms ever created. Nintendo may have just decided they needed that game in the West with or without the voices.

Did Nintendo tell people to do that, though? Honest question, it's been years and I can't remember. I want to say they didn't, in which case yeah there's a difference between fans naturally building something up like this and Atlus (I think Capcom did this for a while too) saying ohh gee you guys need to keep tweeting and maybe buy this spinoff if you really want us to make these other games for you.

This is the communications manager of Atlus saying this, though. Is it really a big deal for this person to encourage us to keep communicating with them?

I don't think it hurts anything and certainly doesn't hurt the chances of the game eventually releasing on Switch.

idk I remember buying it on Wii. but yeah looking at the Wiki they didn't give it a full release. But also Reggie said they didn't know about the campaign according to the article.

"
Their efforts resulted in Xenoblade Chronicles becoming #1 in the site's pre-order gaming charts, beating The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and the PlayStation 3 bundle for Call of Duty: Black Ops. The campaign also received support from Mistwalker, the developers of The Last Story, and Xenogears and Xenosaga writer Soraya Saga.[71] Takahashi later stated that Monolith Soft developed the game assuming that it would be released overseas.[72]

In the months following these activities, Nintendo of America officially stated that there were no current plans to release the three asked-for games in North America, despite acknowledging the great demand for the titles.[73]Rumors eventually emerged that the title would see a North American release when it was listed on the website of gaming retailer GameStop. Soon after this, Nintendo officially announced that the game would be released in the region.[74] In a 2013 interview, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé revealed that Nintendo were considering an American release for Xenoblade Chronicles while Operation Rainfall was active, and that while the campaign did not factor into their decision, they were aware of it and took it into account while deciding whether the release would make a profitable release.[75] Xenoblade Chronicles eventually released in North America on 6 April 2012.[4] It was released in North America as an exclusive to Nintendo's American store, and GameStop's website and stores.[74] The eShop version released for North America from 28 April 2016.[76]"

I suppose. Just always rubs me the wrong way when they basically come out asking you to ask them to make games.

In my opinion, Atlus are avoiding putting Persona 5 on Switch because of their business relationship with Sony. This is like a Monster Hunter situation. They know it will sell crazy on Switch, but Sony don’t want that. They also need to give the Royal Edition room to breath on PS4.

I don’t think it’s impossible, but Sony really wouldn’t want that series on Switch (the main series). It will be too successful on that platform.

Maybe a Switch announcement at E3 about a late year release after Royal has had a chance to sell on PS, at best. But, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

I've seen other people mention this but there's no way they take the time to put K.Rool in smash ultimate as a new character with nothing to tie it in with. I still bet DKC 3 was or is in development.

I think it's possible it got delayed to not compete against MM2 maybe. I dunno.

I mean it's really fucking weird looking back that Nintendo released NSMBU Deluxe and Mario Maker 2 so close together.

#BreakFreePersona is trending at the moment apparently.

Despite the headline, the article states that ATLUS is aware of the demand for this game on Switch. With many people now telling them there's genuine interest, I do have some faith in a future release.

If it doesn't happen...so be it. 🤷‍♂️

I still have to play through the great Tales of Vesperia, some quests in Dragon Quest XI I skipped over, and some Final Fantasy games on Switch, so it is not that I am starving for great JRPGs at the moment, or will be in the future with Trials of Mana and Xenoblade Chronicles - Definitive Edition. 🧙‍♂️

You still can't buy Switches in the UK. This has been going on for two months......

Official Nintendo store says they will have stock next month. But they also said that this month and it didn't happen.....

Wanted to pick one up soon, but it's not looking good. Used ones are going for over £300.

Nintendo has taken their desire to replicate "manufactured scarcity" too far this time!

There's already P3FE but I get what you're saying, almost no chance though.
Yeah, I think that ship has sailed as well. I remember watching a "special" Atlus stream way back after fooling myself it would be for the definitive version of P3 and they were groping someone dressed as Teddie and there was an anime announcement. Somehow part of myself still hasn't moved on.

I'll probably get dog piled on for my theory of the "late" Nintendo Direct but here goes:

I believe Nintendo was ready to announce the Switch Pro in the next direct with it being available around June/E3.

However, since the unfortunate outbreak of the coronavirus, it has delayed production of the system and most likely
caused chaos with Nintendo's planned 2020 strategy with the Switch and the new system.

We'll get a Nintendo Direct by the end of this month mainly focusing on Animal Crossing and perhaps a few other
titles.

EDIT: Nintendo did announce an Animal Crossing Direct tomorrow 2/20/2020

I now suspect that Nintendo will reveal the Switch Pro at this year's E3
with it going on sale later this fall around
the time of the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

or not the Switch Pro just shortages of the regular Switch Console, especially in Japan it’s kind of awkward revealing a cool game in a direct and then people who don’t yet own a Switch can’t go and buy one.

Yeah. I really wonder how they do things.

You'd have to imagine that their most popular franchises are guaranteed to have a new entry at some point.

I wonder how they plan it out though. Do they, say, have a great idea for Pikmin 4 but then hold on to it until the right time.

Metroid Prime 4 seems to have been one that they were confident enough to announce before they got cold feet and decided to start over.
I wonder how many times something like that has happened behind the scenes.

DKC 3 seems inevitable. No way they don't at least have plans for something down the line.

I think MM2 and NSMBU were probably not really seen as major releases or maybe they see them as so "evergreen" that it doesn't really matter when they release. Kind of like MK8. Doesn't really matter when it releases.
