Game soundtracks on vinyl | Analogue Gen 33fps

hype for Snatcher... but I dont get those colors...

like I've played thru the game and am not sure those designs are canon...

also hype of Panzer Dragoon!!!

I got tickets to the playstation convention this weekend!!

instead I'm like fuck getting in line for the convention! I gotta stay home and pre-order Panzer Dragoon!!

Ridiculous week of announcements.

I'm really liking that clear Snatcher -- how is the sound quality on clear versus colored?

Yeahhhh I'm going to need that Panzer Dragoon vinyl.

Any recommendations for another Data Discs record to get with it to make shipping more worthwhile?

Seems Austin followed up to check and my banner saga was shipped in september to the wrong address (after ordering, id sent multiple emails about the new address but obv thye were ignored and months later it gets shipped to the wrong address (apparently). He said they are sending another one to the proper address and it shouldve been sent by mondya/tuesday.

streets of rages are universally loved

speaking of saving on shipping, will Mondo get Revenge and Panzer on Saturday as well?

Mondo usually gets them a week or two later, I think. Never the LEs though, if that's what you're going for.

I actually think that they will go on sale from Mondo on Saturday also. That's what has happened the past 2 releases. Sometimes the order might take a little bit longer to ship though.

You should ask them on Twitter, they will generally respond.

Mondo already had Golden Axe in stock on the same Saturday Data Discs sold them.

Ah you're right. I forgot that they had GA much quicker.

What's different about the LEs other than being limited?
Just the color variant. Mondo seems to get the black variant and the solid color variant. DD only sells the limited, more-stylistic colors directly (along with the other two options, of course). DD doesn't publish the exact number of LEs, though, which I think is awesome. :)

clear is a pure form of vinyl like black, so it should be the next best thing for audiophiles.

all of them. Clever bastards at DD even numbered them, so you know you have missed out on a release and

So much for 'late November' to get my Oxenfree vinyl.

Tried to get a refund from iam8bit a month ago because I was sick of waiting & they won't let me because they say they don't have to since they supply a download code at time of order.

Cunts.
I'm sure I could pursue it. If it doesn't arrive in December I will.

:)

In other not-so-fun delays, I just realized today that Mondo was set to ship the Street Fighter II repress mid-November, but... mine sure hasn't shipped yet. :(

Yeah, this is one of the many issues people have had with them that's been posted about in pages past. I had this exact problem ages ago, for some release I don't even recall. After many email exchanges about how shitty it was (and essentially telling me to deal with it) they at least made policy disclaimers more prominent on their site. They are now on the product pages a little bit bigger in font size and they are on checkout pages as well.

Overall though, my communication with them consisted of questioning why their policy doesn't allow for a larger window of time instead of "only two weeks to cancel orders". Because what's fucked about that is that's when they email you the digital code. Meanwhile the physical order doesn't exist, process, and then ship until 9-12 months later (that's a generous average). Fucking ridiculous lead times. How about give they give us a larger timeframes to cancel considering their delivery time is protracted, and also since people's financial situations change over that huge chunk of time. They can hold the fuck on to the digital codes a bit longer, since that doesn't cost anyone anything.

iam8bit = Aggressively anti-consumer.

I'm waiting on four iam8bit orders. Hope they don't go out of business in the next ~6 months before they ship my stuff.

Literally no update on Uncharted 4 right? I know that was slated for November and we haven't heard anything at all. Also nothing on Undertale which was supposed to ship out...before year's end I guess?

From what I read, clear should actually be the best, bug some of it comes down to how worn in the press is for pressing. With black forming the majority (I'm assuming part of the choice is for ease of reading the grooves), the press is nice and favourable. Swapping out for a new colour gets it all cold again, that gets pressed, and then it's back to black.

Sorry if I'm repeating the question here, so for best audio quality for say the new Revenge of Shinobi one, it would be best to go for the standard black vinyl rather than the bone white or speckled limited edition? Sorry, very new to Vinyl :)

I just bought my first couple the other day, I grabbed Streets of Rage 1 and 2 in the only options available (red and smoke grey respectively), but given I'll have the choice of the finish this time, I was wondering what would be best.

If I'm correct, it goes something like this:

Black
Solid colours (including clear)
Mixed colours (including picture discs)

Black and solid might be on the same level, but there could be slight variance in colours. Doubt it would be perceptible to anyone but the most anally retentive of audiophiles, though.

Someone else will chime in though with a more accurate answer, I'm sure :)

Audiophiles will tell you that black is the best. Something about higher carbon content in the material that makes it black, making it more durable or something.

But really... 99.999% of people wouldn't be able to hear a distinguishable difference between the same record pressed on different colors.

Personally, I had a black copy of Shenmue and traded it for a blue copy. Sound-wise, they were identical to my ears (I'm no audiophile...), but the blue had inaudible streaks on it after I cleaned it with a basic record cleaning brush. The black did not seem to get the same streaks.
Conclusion: whatever.

Buy whatever you like. :)

Black and colored vinyl (sorry, vinyl of color), including any color gimmicks (splatters, swirls, etc.), should all be on (or about on) the same level. I've seen discussions on black being "pure" and different colors being better than others, but if it's even true it would probably be like, 0.1% of people being able to tell any major differences.

Clear vinyl is somewhat susceptible to surface noise, picture discs and glowing vinyl are really susceptible to surface noise. I've got clear records and a picture disc and they all sound fine, but if you're really concerned about quality these are the ones you want to be cautious around.

Is Snatcher only being released in those colour variants or is there also a basic black release? Not a fan of any of the wacky colors and I'd much rather have a regular black vinyl than a clear one.

Thank you so much all! I am definitely no audiophile, so I doubt I would ever be able to tell :D I'll just get the ones I like the look of best haha!

How is the Axiom Verge album? I'm tempted to... snatch it when I order SNATCHER.

OMG See what I did?? So clever!!

Here's the black/red Yetee version, which I hadn't seen posted here yet.

While looking at the Yetee page, I noticed this is a pre-order shipping in March, which I hadn't heard before.

Also, S2S's site says the Clear version is available through lightintheattic.net.
