Gameinformer + Ubisoft + Nintendo Rev = Red Steel

I think this proves though that even if Rev isn't as powerful as Xbox 360/PS3, it clearly is powerful enough to compete. Add in the controller and low price and its looking up for Nintendo.

I can't wait to see what Retro has in store for MP3

I said bring it motherfuckers :)
Welll... when you think about it. Retro has a problem in that Samus' right hand is a cannon. which will limit how the player can interact with the environment, assuming the RevMote is played with right-hand in that game.

If it is indeed a launch title, it furthers my idea that there's no need for Metroid Prime 3 to make launch, unless other Nintendo games don't look like making it.

Anyway, back to this game. The controls...they CAN'T work as simply as some people have said. Yeah, when using a gun you could just move the screen and the crosshair at the same time with the revmote and it's no problem. But when using a sword, you're going to be swinging it all over the place but you'll have NO desire for the screen to be following that or you won't even be able to see the enemy. So they must have something else worked out, maybe some form of lock on? Not to aim a weapon, just to stay facing the enemy. I dunno, the article probably says but cameras are too complicated for some.

You can just hold a button down to swing/stab the sword, and during that time you no longer have freelook. Some sort of lock on would be pretty sweet though, especially for bosses.

you mean for left handed people? Why couldnt they just get used to it?

for the REV, I'm hoping more games from Capcom than never.

Killer 7, Devil May Cry, Okami, RE a la 4, PN03 or DeadPhoenix...

also a port from the FFVII's shooter.

The Revolution gives a true new way to play shooters, as 3D games in general. For me, there's no doubting about this being the leader system next generation.

This all sounds pretty cool. I want some multiplayer details though. Even if it is only 4 player a sword duel would be amazing

No, I missed the confirmation.

Well, thats great news. This game absolutley destroys anything FPS style on for gaming consoles. I totally want a Revolution now.

...

Why did you have to do that?:lol

agreed ... Revolution games must be handicapped in some ways.
Uhh... you are agreeing with sarcasm? Unless you are being sarcastic yourself...

4 player max multiplayer support?! WHYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!

No, I'm saying the Samus character can't really interact with the game-world using her right hand... other than aim and shoot.

Totally impressed.... All the spec talk in previous threads had lowered my expectations quite a bit and this game really does look nice. This is pretty much the graphics that i had been originally expecting from the rev before the specs came out. The gameplay information is also very awesome. It sounds like ubisoft is really getting everything they can out of the revmote.

This is definitly acceptable graphics for a next gen system, unless they are photoshopped to hell and back, or the framerate and animation sucks. I guess everybody who said that rendering in SD would allow the rev to be competitive was correct.

I believe international Left Handed society's lawyer is already in contact with Nintendo.

At least about the shaders. I don't see why Nintendo can't add them. It's not THAT expensive.
Well, even he seems uncertain about the specific hardware features.

Currently, I'm also trying to figure out what the eff the deal is what Revolution's graphic capabilities. Ever since we published the CPU and GPU specs, we've been bombarded with questions about whether or not Nintendo's new console can do bump-mapping, HDR lighting, advanced blooming, etc. I've been told that the hardware's shader capabilities have not been vastly enhanced, but I've been unable to verify that through a wealth of sources. And it's something that bugs me because it's a piece of information that can give us a better idea of what to expect visually from Ninteno's latest machine. Obviously, If I hear anything, there'll be an update.

Think of the Gameplay posibilities. Think of why Mario Kart is limited to 4 players online. Think of why Metroid is limited to 4 players online.

Games that takes care of gameplay, doesn't want to fault on this just for putting 16 players at the same time. Nowadays, LATENCY IS THE ISSUE, and it's going to be hanging there for some years.

Thats really cool that you can twist the remote and stuff. Didn't think of that when they announced the controller. I can just imagine the next Waverace using that as the throttle.

With as awesome as this game sounds, I'm actually more excited for other types of games. I fear western devs will push out lots of FPS, and little else.

Maybe tecnical reasons, and definitely for the fact that if there's any technicality to the swordplay aspect, anything over four would be a massive clusterfuck.

... But capture the flag sucks with 4 people! :P

Did Ubisoft guarantee great sales for this game by revealing it first? I mean, look at all the hype it's getting.

I can feel it. this system is gonna take the "staleness" out of gaming again. It's so good to be a gamer!

*bows down to Rev*

now you've got it: fuck unreal and all the others, you have to aim with the thumbstick and you can't lob grenades by imitating an underhanded throw.

"Graphics really don't matter." - Iwata

It's funny because more accurate grenade throwing is something I've wanted to see in games for a while now.

Where you throw a flashbang in Counter Strike makes a big impact, so more control over how you aim and throw is a big step forward.

I can imagine a basketball game, or a baseball game, and I hate those sports.

Can't wait for the Revolution.

Finally found the pics -- awesome, awesome, awesome. Cannot wait.

All we need now is a fuckin Star Wars lightsaber game and we're all set.

I'm reading this "can't do shaders" thing over and over. Note that shaders aren't required for per-pixel-lighting. If the hardware has a DOT3 blending mode then you can do normalmapping, parallaxmapping, refraction and more. GameCube didn't have it but it was still possible to do it by combining texturestages (GameCube had 16 texturestages which is quite a luxury). Unfortunately only a few developers made good use of it. Now if Hollywood's a compleet redesign then I highly doubt Revolution doesn't support DOT3 blending.

I didn't say wow, but I thought it.

This sounds brilliant, and Nintendo must have a lot of faith in it if they are introducing the "West" to Revolution via this game. Cannot wait until E3, looks like a genuine gaming revolution really is on the cards.

I can't see where is going Mario to be upgraded with the Revmote, but about Zelda... WOW.

Just think of being in the world and grabbing thins with your bare hands... It can't sound better.

Not really impressed. Looks like Perfect Dark Zero at best.

I'd say that's pretty good for Rev's weak specs. I guess the graphics isn't what really impresses people, but how the revmote is going to work. And so far it sounds very interesting.

Jerk the RevMote from side to side to "wall-hop".

And what if the nunchaku has too a 3D motion sensor, but without pointer?

that would be absolutely definitive.

Just imagine the possibilities!

Exactly.
And don't forget the virtual console.
