I thought it was hands on with New Super Mario Bros and a first look at the next Castlevania for the DS.......

Maybe its Castlevania for the Revolution? It just said follow up to a critically acclaimed game from last year and made several references to Castlevania. It never mentioned a system (I don't think). What if the game is not the DS Castlevania but a Revolution version?

Do you see any jaggies?
These screens were made for the media so there are no jaggies. If the system only has 3 MB eDRAM as IGN claims then you can be certain that the actual game will have jaggies. Other than that I have no problem believing that these are actual Rev graphics. It looks a bit like Ninja Gaiden for Xbox.

One would think any Revolution news would be on the cover, but it's just NSMB.
Wouldn't that be the previous issue? There was discussion weeks back about how many levels NSMB had, from an issue of Nintendo Power with the brothers jumping on a blue background.

I see jaggies ;) But it's quite clear these aren't "target renders" or "touched up". But god, guys, it's still more than adequate. It's not hard on the eye at all.

But it's hardly equal or even close to the Rainbow Six: Vegas screens like people were saying earlier. Still good enough though, I agree.

I don't know why people like to complain, i think most are surprised its better than they expect, I just sense people want nintendo to fail. after hearing the game play for this game i am excited to the core. Guys the graphics are fine more than adequate. Gameplay hear is king.

if someone wants to PM me the better scans, that would be loooovely.

Ruh-Roh

BTw the scans anwer the concern another poster brought up. The revmote can in fact perceive motion on the z-plane.

I just saw the new pics, doesn't look so hot. Looks like a good Xbox/GC title.

However, the quality of these scans is god awful so maybe that's why.

Some of the new scans are to stupid to be touched up. they just show a gun and a wall or a guy running away. So perhaps they really are ingame and not touched up at all? (I don't really count large framebuffer shots, maybe the devkits have double the ram like with PS2 and Xbox)

I agree, they don't look touched up at all. Look at the chair.

other than that, the casino picture we know has a LOT of debris flying around. pretty damn detailed too. I'm getting some kind of black vs goldeneye vibe from this game. I hope it turns out that way. Explosions make me go "ooooohhh!"

edit; maybe perfect dark-ish

So we finally have someone scan these pics but they don't know how to save a .jpg properly?
Anyways they look the same, just with a overdose of jpeg artifacts.
The shot with the guy shootng and the sofa behind him being shot up looks damn impressive. Cool effect.

Ubisoft also announced its intention to make Red Steel a franchise in the vein of its popular Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia series. It promised to "disclose more specific information on Red Steel in the coming months," and to show off how it would work with its controller at the forthcoming E3 expo next month.

So, do you think it will remain exclusive to the Nintendo Revolution, or will Ubisoft give Nintendo the middle finger like Capcom did with RE4??

I hope tht Nintendo has obtained exclusive rights to the game on the revolution

just saw the new scans and yeah I must say I'm getting a goldeneye + perfect darkish vibe from what's shown in the mag.

e3 can't some soon enough

Heh, in Germany at least the first, smaller scans would've been perfectly legal to post. There's an extra clause for citations. It's only problematic when scans cover the complete article with readable text.

Good to appease my inferiority complex.

Wouldn't that be entirely dependent on whether it's actually successful or not?

it's a safe bet for numerous reasons.

even if it did hit other systems out of nowhere, who would want to play a game that was built from the ground up with the revmote in mind with 2 sticks?

If it takes advantage of the Rev. remote like it says in the article then it might be hard to bring it to other sytems.

People that don't care about the Revolution?

Noone here at this point has enough information to make visual conclusions yet, so please dont pretend to. It all depends on how this game moves, animates, the lighting, the particle effects, how much shit is happening on screen, etc. Right now, it can still go both ways.

PS3 + Mouse/Keyboard support.

If the game's good, it'll be good on a regular controller. Not like the Rev is going to transform a 4.5 game into a 9.0.

The new scans reveal something that doesn't look as good as the magazine photos first implied, but it doesn't look bad or anything. Final dev kits are out in June remember and theres half a year to go before it comes out... even if it doesn't end up looking better, it still looks good enough to me. I still can't wait to see it in motion.

Whoever scanned them, if you're reading, could you please scan them again but at a higher DPI? Or save at a higher JPEG quality? Or save as PNG? Note the blocky crap behind the text on some of those pages.

I dunno, it's maybe stupid to critisize so unclear pictures, but I can't see much of shader usage. Bloom lighting is implemented to the max and quite nicely though, I guess Nintendo figured that will be enough to make consumers think it's next gen (not that they are wrong).

Well, I have to say it does look closer to xbox than x360 graphics wise, if it were only for the low polygon surroundings. I don't care really, the article got me pretty hyped on the game :D
