Why??? what is wrong with the new pics????

Nothing is wrong with them really, its just a better overall view of where some of the sacrifices were made (low poly, etc). Still looks good though, just not 360 / PS3 good.

PS3 + Mouse/Keyboard support.

If the game's good, it'll be good on a regular controller. Not like the Rev is going to transform a 4.5 game into a 9.0.
only the aiming would translate well. everything else would have to be redone as far as the controls go.

throwing grenades, using the sword, and everything else that makes use of the revmote will be lost in the translation. not to mention that all the games mechanics and levels were designed with the revmote in mind.

it's almost like saying "hey, let's port steel battalion to ps2 and use normal controls. or throw in mouse keyboard support"

yeah it's do-able, but would you really be interested in playing without the controller it was designed for?

I doubt anyone on this board would consider getting it on another platform, but the more limited controls won't stop most people that already bought a PS3 or X360 to get it for those platforms. Mario 64 was designed for the N64 controller, yet loads of people bought Mario 64 DS.

as the guys said yesterday who i quoted from Official Nintendo Magazine, ALL GAMES which will be shown outside of Nintendo 1st party are running on NON FINAL hardware.
Don't be too worried.

I agree. These 2nd year Xbox type graphics should not be something to worry about. Revolution should be able to do late Xbox graphics too.

Saw the new scans. Graphics aren't as good as what we saw before, but it still looks pretty tight.

Question for some of the tech-savvy posters out there: Can Nintendo and Nintendo fanboys actually use the "but it's not running on final hardware!" excuse? I mean, it's not like the Revolution is using exotic new hardware (like the PS3 and Xbox 360). Surely the dev kits that are out there are fairly representative of the system's power?

But Nintendo has Pikmin power, and "one last secret"! ;)

Also the scans look just fine.

What I said the graphics will look better than the scan. Don't worry we will see late xbox graphics for Rev launch.

Oh shut up. SoVos is absolutely right.

Reject, you think the final dev kit is going to magically transform these graphics from "something an XBox could do" to "OMG NEXT GEN TOTAL"?

Keep trippin'!

They aren't, so yes. It's already been brought up that only Nintendo, that only they h ave final hardware, all third parties don't.

With six months left to go the graphics won't improve a whole lot. And that has nothing do with the hardware. PS3 software isn't going to look a whole lot better in six months either.

maybe you didn't read, it said there are things you do in the game only possible on the rev controller.

it's a safe bet for numerous reasons.

even if it did hit other systems out of nowhere, who would want to play a game that was built from the ground up with the revmote in mind with 2 sticks?

The other reason it is a safe bet is that Nintendo was heavily involved in the development of the game. If they spent money on it, that could mean it is partly their property, although who knows.

Ah but PS3 release games will look better than anything Rev could ever do.

PS3 = Real Next Gen System
Rev = GC+

Noone here at this point has enough information to make visual conclusions yet, so please dont pretend to.
I doubt seeing it in motion is going to make a huge difference. Certainly you can't appreciate the animation and physics in still shots but I doubt those things will be up to the standards of PS3 and Xbox 360 titles. But at the same time I think it is a mistake to compare Rev and PS3/Xbox 360 software. Nintendo has different priorities and has been quite open about it. At least people should wait a price before spelling doom for Nintendo.

THe first Xbox 360 game revealed was PD0. One of the first shots we got was Wallguy.
The pictures of Red Steel look alot better than the first pics of PD0, and it''s further from release then PD0 was when it was first released.

The only conclusion that can be reached is: Revolution power >>>>> Xbox360 power.

Exactly Nintendo priority is rebagaging old technology as new. Sony and M$ priority is delivering the newest technology to the people.

Are these new pics of different parts of the game or better versions of the old scans.

Some are different, some are the same. I would hesitate to call them better, though. They look a little worse than what we've already seen. Nothing too major, but certainly noticeable.

New scans make the Rev look more capable, not less. The Polygon count may not be as high as alot of new games... but the texture detail is more than adequate.

Game shots remind me alot about Goldeneye.

I'm not tech-savvy, but final hardware is reported to give a 5-10% power boost. Not too much. However if I were a developer I'd feel uncertain about what I can demand at most from the hardware and play it safe for the time being.

Mark this as the point where the thread got ugly :lol

The first PD0 screens looked truly awful (and to be honest the final game doesn't look that great either) but they still showed graphics that are technically more advanced than Red Steel's. It just proves that things like parallax mapping and other fancy shader tricks are no substitute for art direction and polish.

Apparently you weren't around for all the PDZ/20%/50%/75% of the 360's power stuff. Good times.
