Careful in terms of shocking statements. If Revo's price is low enough, its penetration is going to be high, mark my words.
i hope revolution 3rd party support is plentiful and produces many great games, but nintendo's recent history with 3rd parties on home consoles hasn't been good.

Time to make this thread 100 posts longer:

Looks like ONM isn't only going after activison, sega and ubisoft
it would be surprising to me to see one or two red steel quality exclusives from each developer. i'm not ruling anything out, but if these recent rumblings pan out, i'll be very impressed!

Actually, I believe the Nintendo official Magazine refers to issue 4 not 3

Which should be out around the same time as e3.. same with EGM

Nintendo is getting their name out there

Pre-e3 issue than more coverage right after with e3.

Yeah the one someone posted above.. I don't think this is the same issue they're referring to. The cover doesn't even say anything about the rev besides the zelda stuff.

there was an interview with lee nutter, onm's editor, at cubed3. he had this to say about issue 4 being big, due May 11th:
http://www.cubed3.com/news/4891
...LN: Issue 04 on sale 11 May is the one to look out for – it’s the one when we finally get to lift the lid on Revolution. We’re off to Japan shortly to play several Revolution games which will feature heavily in issue 04, plus we’ve been promised exclusive screens, information and developer interviews on many more Revolution games...

The issue that promises the Rev goodies would be the one after the April 20th issue. The Samus one is the one due for release on the 20th.

i would actually be pretty impressed if there was even 2 or 3 other 3rd party exclusives that sound as cool as red steel. I'm thinking a lot of these games might be ps2 ports. If it turns out to be a bunch of exclusives that will be awesome and it would bode well for the rev.

I strongly doubt that. Kojima and Suda are making exclusives so that's 2 right there that will use the revmote in a unique way.

This isn't the N64 days anymore where 4 player offline multiplayer is the main draw.

Once again, for you maybe not...but for most casual gamers multiplayer with friends is still the fundamental part of gaming.

Mrbob said:
And it is Valve, not Value.

I know

The experience comes down to what the developers offer.

And those possibilities are obviously constrained by traditional controllers

I, for one, still think there is a lot of room for ridiculous amounts of four-player fun with the Revolution.

I'm also on this bandwagon. NO online will ever replace getting friends together for 2/4 player action.

Online's for kids without friends. YEAH I SAID IT.

Yeah I don't know...when I think about four people throwing grenades at the same time in Red STeel in the same room, I just can't help but laugh internally...I know its going to be ridiculous.

I dunno, that actually sounds like fun. You get trapped in a room, friend is about to throw a grenade at you, you interfere (in real life) and stop his hand and he blows himself up.

I prefer multiplayer over online by a longshot. No lag, no timeouts, no waiting and it's more fun being in person. Maybe I'm just too old school for theses things.

Haha that would be mean. I wonder if you actually have to activate the grenades before you throw them? I wonder if we will hear "murdered over a prevented grenade" stories....

Maybe when the korean version comes out

Wait, we can't have rampant speculation without the april 20th date floating around so here's more:

April 20th ftw

So far:
Nintendo Power = April 20th
ONM = April 20th
and GI promissed more info = April 20th

BUT Matt says nothing will happen on april 20th.. hehe

It's pretty clear some big things are planned for the 20th, no matter what Matt says. Granted, 50 NDAs aren't going to be broken on that day, but we will get some great info. Red Steel footage alone is a megaton imo.

I'm thinking Nintendo Power will probably reveal more details on Zelda: TP's Revolution functions. I don't think actual Revolution first party games will be shown until E3.

ONM...wow. Oh boy, what could they have? I'm thinking the majority of the developers they mention are western. I'm thinking the most logical possibilities are:

-Activision: Tony Hawk, Spiderman, Call of Duty 2
-EA: Tiger Woods Golf, James Bond FPS (Casino Royale)
-Ubisoft: Red Steel, Rayman 4
-THQ: Cars
-Sega: Sonic

That's five developers. Anyone have other possibilities?

I have a trackball mouse, and it controls perfectly. But it would be impossible to control a trackball with your thumb. I just played a game of Wolfenstein using my thumb only for aiming; got killed.

It wouldn't work, and Sony isn't that stupid

How would using a trackball with your right thumb be any different than using the right analog stick? People are already used to using their right thumb to do these functions, the trackball just adds quicker reaction time and more precision. A clickable scroll wheel in place of the R1 button would be cool too. I doubt any of this will happen, but if Sony also added tilt functionality into the controller and included eye toy with the system, they would cover every base that Nintendo is going for. I can't imagine adding tilt functionality, scroll wheel and trackball to a controller would cost that much. At least not as much as Nintendo is claiming to have spent on their controller. In addition to the controller, the eye toy would pick up movement. You could use your hand (drag, drop, push, etc) instead of the controller. No attachment would be needed, just the controller, and the camera could detect a hand gestures. It just seems more and more like Nintendo is out of touch with what gamers want. I appreciate what they are trying to do. In many ways, they are still the trend setters, but they are no longer the best at what they do. Their games and hardware prove it.

Indeed. I'm pretty sure that Nintendo Power's next issue, however, goes on retail at the very end of April, so April 20th soudns about right for subscribers to get NP.

Capcom I'd imagine.

So, uh, if magazines are supposed to go on sale the 20th, shouldn't some subscribers have them already?

I'm thinking because of easter there was a delay in shipping. We should hopefully see some scans surface on monday/tuesday

-I'd add a new IP in activision
-EA, I have no clue, your guesses sound right
-UBI might have a clancy game, probably splinter cell.. also aren't they publishing a free radical game for the rev?
-THQ, yeah cars and hopefully something a bit more mature
-Sega: Sonic and probably a new IP or a sequel to the Feel the magic series

I'm scared for this board on the 20th, and up until E3. Imagine...a bunch of High Nintendo power holders looking at Zelda's breasts and thinking of ways to fondle them with the controller.................................................

And then posting those thoughts/scans(andgettingbanned) here.

god how i love this pre e3 discussions. everybody tries to dig up the big news. its like the good old goldrush times in the us. how come noone hasnt tried to play around with nintendo.com, like in the laste years. well last year nintendo fucked around with them by posting fake games.
anyway everybody is in a sherlock holms detective mode right now, and i love it. keep one going guys

Oddly enough, the first info usually leaks from europe. Even red steel is a europe made game.
European magazines are promising big news for their next issues, too. But their release dates are all after the 20th as far as I've checked. Anyway, it's gonna be insane.

Which European magazines are you referring to?

Perhaps now they're paying 3rd parties to make exclusives for the Revo? could be a good possibility and very good for the Revo to get some unique exclusives with the developers ideas with some of Nintendo's input.

Doubtful. Nintendo's said, I believe in reference to small teams, if you have a solid idea, bring it to us, we have the money, but I don't think they're gonna toss cash at big developers.

But, it does sound like they are getting much closer to developers, as proof by Red Steel. Close contact and communication, helping them both creatively and code wise.

Well it would make me happy because it would work great with FPS games, so this is why I'm hoping they add it in! :lol
I think aiming while holding a two-handed controller would be sucky moose.

Geez, is it normal for a magazine to hype up an issue that's several months away? Is that in the context of a larger list saying what's coming in each issue for the next six months or something?

October 27 = Rev or that issue?

Looks like its probably some year-head article. Having said that its very telling.
If the mag will be looking at the launch lineup in issue 10 (released in October), then it looks like PAL Rev = November. Same as PS3 in that region.

14 week launch window... either its another worldwide launch or Rev will be out in the Japan and the US sometime between June and October.

I think US is pretty much locked down for November. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rev launch at least vaguely simultaneously in US and Japan, with Europe maybe two months later.

I'm thinking of new IPs from Sega, THQ and Activision.

I think Revolution will launch in Japan first (September or October) and then in US and Europe in late November - early December.

I'd be pretty surprised if we saw new IPs from Activision. They got sort of burned in retail by one of their latest attempts at new IP, Gun. They've been riding on Tony Hawk, Call of Duty, movie licenses, for a long time now.

Same goes for THQ, they aren't exactly known for introducing new IP. With the occasional exception like The Outfit (which was by Relic anyway) a HUGE majority of their stuff is licensed titles.

If Revolution releases in PAL territory in October
---> USA : August
---> Japan : May
May in Japan? No.

More like:
Japan: Mid-September/Mid-October
USA: Early to Mid-November
Europe: Late November to Mid-December

That fits in the 14 week launch window.
