Games you unashamedly want more devs to copy

Banjo Kazooie. The world needs more 3D platformers with creative worlds, large arsenal of moves, a funny script, and rewarding collections. Note I said "rewarding" collections, not pixel hunt busy work to collect 1000 bear asses in order to get some stupid achievement.

Vanquish, we need more pure octane, over the top 3rd person shooters.

Sengoku Basara, Koei needs to step their Musou game up when it comes to combat.

Split Second, more Death Race is a good thing.

Smash clones have been attempted... but they're never even 10% as good as smash. We don't need more smash clones, they all get left in the trash.

I'd like more big budget metroidvanias. Right now they're in the indie world, which is great, but i'd like to see big franchises recast in the metroidvania genre.

says you. i actually enjoy them very much. sure they're not as good as smash but that doesn't mean they're not fun. a clone doesn't have to be better than what its copying, it just needs to be fun.

Someone please copy Shadow of the Colossus. Remove the bloated waves of enemies, give me 16 distinct puzzle-dungeon-bosses and I'll be happy.

Desert/Jungle/Urban Strike. Action AND strategy in a perfect mix. Renegade Ops was ok but there's wasn't any strategy to it, mostly a twin stick shooter.

Road Rash. Just give me an action packed non open world bike racer.

Armored Core 4. More mech games are always welcome. Especially with big and agile/fast moving mechs.

Project Sylpheed. Space shooter with emphasis on big weapons and explosions and that over the top anise style.

Red Faction Guerilla. Destructible environments, need I say more?

Radiata Stories...but they never do. :(

Really liked that every NPC had a full day routine. It made the game feel alive. It also helped that every NPC had charisma coming out the wazoo. Their face animations were awesome.

Loved that game. If you hear me devs. Copy it!

TOMBA

how has no one copied this genius game.

Valkyria Chronicles like everything about it.

Now to deviate from topic, picking and choosing parts from other games.

Dragon's Dogma the entire combat system. Any and everything related to fighting in that game.

On the MMORPG front.

Take Tera's targeting system (FPS), take Blade and soul's combat, take aion's aesthetics and combined it with Guild wars 2 system.

We need more action games like Devil May Cry. We have it and Bayonetta, but that's it.

says you. i actually enjoy them very much. sure they're not as good as smash but that doesn't mean they're not fun. a clone doesn't have to be better than what its copying, it just needs to be fun.

Small Arms was pretty fun now that you mention it. PS All-Stars however...

I want more FPS games to steal Shadowrun's Teleport ability. A lot of AAA shooters are just now getting some interesting movement in them, but it seems that Teleport is still too crazy to implement for most games.

I really really really want to see a Smash Bros. clone with original characters and an original world. Most games inspired by Smash are crossovers/licensed (PS All-Stars, TMNT Smash-Up, JUS), but I want a game with Smash's gameplay and brand new characters. Also, Smash's gameplay is so fun as it is, but I'd like to see someone attempt a more focused version. One that emphasizes the fighting mechanics more than Smash does. I was looking forward to Air Dash Online (horrible name btw) for that reason, but it looks like it's dead. I'm also looking forward to Rivals of Aether, but lets be honest, it's a really tiny game. Give me the Smash version of Skullgirls.

Shadow of Mordor's Nemesis system: obviously you can't copy it entirely, since your character dying over and over wouldn't work in most games, but the core concept of unique and dynamic enemies who grow and change over the game are feel like thorns in your side beyond just being a dude you killed once.

Think how cool a new fallout game would be if it had the same system on top of the regular quests

I think we need more games that feature co-op game play, both online and local. I really enjoyed these features with the Gears of War series and all the Halo games. I remember playing the original Resistance on the PS3, and it had the same NPC character play along with the protagonist for the entire game. I kept thinking it would be so awesome if a second person could join my game and take over that character - another missed opportunity for greatness!

I am old and I now appreciate cooperative gameplay with friends and my children.

Cheers

Amalur. I want a developer proficent in action rpg game play to expand on amalur.

It will be insane, it's like my left foot is L.A and my right foot is in Spain.

Papers, Please

It's still the most important game I've ever played. Take an uninteresting act, make it interesting through character interaction and the setting. The actions you take in the gameplay directly affect the story, meaning the story is almost like a mechanic in itself. It's such an important game.

I would definitely echo the suggestion of Dark Souls world design. If more open worlds where designed like that then I'd be far more receptive of them.

Also I'd love for someone to make a flying based RPG like Panzer Dragoon Saga and use a similar battle system.

System Shock. How hard is it to make a "thinking" shooter these days?

They disappeared like this Bloodsucker back in 2007. There's nothing on the horizon until COD runs its course and Destiny clones don't start taking over, further regressing the genre. Thinking is out, set pieces and muh cinematic are in for the time being until some publisher realizes that dark souls in FPS form could make money.

Guild Wars 1.

I'm getting bored of every MMO being like/playing like Blizzard's games. Despite it's aged graphics GW1 still feels somewhat fresh compared with other MMOs, because nobody copied it's probably unique co-op focused, skill-based gameplay.

I always thought that Dead Rising 1's way of handling game cycles was a bit like MM. Each NG+ let you keep your level-ups and certain keys, and it was ultimately up to you to repeat the cycle until you got the outcomes you wanted.

It's probably the closest, but it's still a far cry from what MM actually did. MM used the 3 day cycle to give everyone a schedule which you could manipulate and intervene in. It made the world feel alive, because each 3 day cycle could be different as you made progress. In Dead rising, you do make progress every cycle but it's not used to the same effect.

I'm still waiting for for a nice remake/continuation of Dungeon Keeper! Or at least something with the same/similar concept. (subtly ignoring this mobile abomination)

Ctrl+F "bus"

This has been my answer for a lot of threads. Would be perfectly fine with devs blatantly copying and iterating on Bushido Blade, down to its smallest elements. Hudless, ambient sound-only, stances, serene environments, etc.
I'm surprised it had never been copied in all these years, it would be amazing on a current system our high end pc
