Games You've Beaten in April

cover_large.jpg

Better than nothing, I suppose. I'll ramp it up in the coming months.

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon.

Fantastic game with some minor flaws, but I ended up enjoying it and having fun with the ghost hunting mechanics. The online mode has proven to be good and difficult and the story mode was very good. The graphics and artstyle are gorgeous and the framerate didn't suffer much. The green brother deserved a big game like this, and I'm glad that I bought my 3DS just because of this game, it made my purchase worth it.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
BioShock infinite
and almost..Bioshock 1 ( i was in the end of the game, until i encounter weird glitch that make me return to 3 hour earlier )

Bioshock Infinite
Pokemon White 2

Surprised I got that much done with Dota 2 slowly consuming my life.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
King's Bounty: Armored Princess
The Unfinished Swan

I spent a long time with Armored Princess. Such a good fun game.

Metal Gear Solid 3 (Vita), Sleeping Dogs and Thomas was Alone

2 platinums and 100% as well, so I'm satisfied.

Well, looking back lets see what I've beaten this month.

Revenge of Shinobi
Beyond Oasis
Gunstar Heroes
Ducktales
Ninja Gaiden II
Death Duel
Little Nemo

There are a few more NES games that I'm forgetting. Don't think I played anything past 16bit this month.

Just Guacamelee and FF XIII-2 this month, although I was able to platinum both.

I enjoyed both games very much. I enjoyed Guacamelee for its platforming and I especially loved the smooth as silk combat. The boss battles in this game weren't too hard, but not too easy either on both Normal and Hard. They were still a whole lot of fun though all the same. Some of the jokes they used fell flat for me, like the meme posters in the second village, but some jokes like when you reach the top of the Tule Tree on your first visit got me laughing out loud.

I really liked exploring the Historia Crux in XIII-2 and the minor gameplay changes they made to the battle system, like getting rid of the individual Paradigm Shift animations in XIII, made the battle system just a bit smoother and faster. I just wished the true ending and that secret movie didn't leave such a sour taste in my mouth.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
Tales of Innocence R
WarioWare, Inc: Mega Microgames
Jeanne D'Arc
Ice Climber
Lost Magic
Mario Party DS

Was a good backlog cleaning month. Hoping to continue in May.

Enjoying my new gaming/home media pc.

Faster Than Light (normal). Beat the final boss the first time I faced
it. An epic encounter, finished with one crew member left, my ship in
flames and moments away from running out of oxygen. An amazing game
with a haunting soundtrack.

Portal 2. Love the voice acting, sense of humour and, of course, the
puzzles. P2 however feels a little drawn out compared to Portal. Both
P1 and P2 are amongst the finest games I have ever played.

The Walking Dead. Addictive, worthy of all praise it gets.

Civ V. Well I finished 'a game' of Civ. Won a space race with a few
turns to spare (while crushing an attack from the Huns).Intense!

Also finally finished off Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars 3DS which is a
solid turn based strategy game.

Out of curiosity when you revisited your backlog and finished those games, were you eager to complete the games while playing or were you just taking your time and enjoying the ride?
Depends. I am taking my time with Ratchet, and trying to get every secret in the game. I spent loving amounts of time with SC2 and Sim City, but they're new so they don't count. I put in a few more hours than I needed to with Nano Assault.

Went both ways though. I didn't particularly enjoy NSMB2, so I was definitely not giving a care about the gold coins or secret levels. With MK7, I was trying to get gold with 3 stars on every cup of every difficulty. It slowly degraded as I continued, until I was fine with just getting first by 150cc and Mirror. MadWorld started ok, but I grew tired of it quick.

So to answer your question: I don't think I will put in any more time than I need to for games I don't fall head over heels for. With the ones I loved, like Ratchet and Nano Assault, the back of my mind desire to beat the game and move on quickly faded and was replaced by a desire to explore more. So I believe it's possible to enjoy and get the most out of a game when you go back, even in a backlog situation. I'm just much less lenient to games when it feels like they're wasting my time.

I've also noticed that I'm slowing down as I get into the groove. I was very much so about finishing quick at the start. Now I'm really getting into them!

Air Combat, Ace Combat 2, and Silhouette Mirage. I completed Air Combat on Hard and unlocked everything in it. I ran Ace Combat 2 on Hard, but there's still a ton of things left to mop up. I'll save that for another day. Silhouette Mirage I've already beaten before back in the day, but I was in the mood for a Treasure game so I finished a path.

Too busy with work and making my own game to play stuff. This summer I'll probably finish a bunch of games though since I'm on leave until September.

Actually had a pretty productive April. Finished Far Cry 3, Shadows of the Damned, Guacamelee!, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Hotline Miami.

Backloggery says:

Bioshock Infinite (3 / 5)
Resident Evil 6 (4 / 5)
Dead Nation (3 / 5)
Demon's Souls (5 / 5)
Doom (w/ Brutal Doom mod) (5 / 5)
Zeno Clash (3 / 5)

(My personal scores in parenthesis.)

Err, wow. Feels like I've barely been playing this past month. Think most of my free time was spent listening to music with just a bit of gaming here and there. I am close to the end of San Andreas as well, but I probably won't finish that up until tomorrow or Thursday.

Okay guys:
Metal Gear Rising (again)
Bioshock: Infinite (3 TIMES!!!)
Hotline Miami
Metroid Fusion (or I will tonight)

Almost beat:
Metroid Prime...for the first time...

Mark of the Ninja was the only one I beat, but damn it was worth it. What an amazing game. I've played close to 30 hours already, and I still haven't even beat New Game Plus.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein (PC)
Duke Nukem Forever + DLC (PC)
Fracture (360)
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PS3)
Far Cry 2 (PC)
Gears of War: Judgment (360)
The Walking Dead: Survival Instincts (360)

Yep...

- Blades of Time
- Hitman Absolution
- Zone of the Enders
- Zone of the Enders 2nd Runner
- Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2
- Hyperdimension Neptunia V

Not a whole lot. I have been playing a couple of dozen games all month off and on.

The ones I have finished

El Shaddai (360)
Rayman Jungle Run (W8)
The Gunstringer (W8)
Mirror's Edge (WP7)

Should be finishing God Mode, Bioshock Infinite, and Poker Night 2 in the next couple of days.

Why is the end of Spring semester always so hectic? The only game that I beat are:
Final Fantasy XIII
Chrono Trigger (which I was nearly at the end of anyway)
I would use the excuse that FFXIII took me 50 hours, but Ni No Kuni took me 60 and I beat like 6 games that month.

Okami (platinumed)
Persona 4 Arena story
Super Monkey Ball vita (platinumed)
Need for Speed the Run
Uncharted Golden Abyss

Amnesia. Wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. Still very good game though.

Aliens: Infestation. Fun metroidvania for the DS.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. RPG heaven.

Let's see:
Tomb Raider
DmC
Closure
Wet
Just Cause 2
SideScroller
Thomas Was Alone
AC3 the dlc, and some other random dlcs for other games
also just about finished with Wolverine

I guess I finished way more games then I expected

I completed Spec Ops: The Line and 007 Blood Stone...

Both pretty good games for different reasons.

Spec Ops had the story in place and some pretty nice art (though the assets themselves were rough as a badger's arse). It's a shame that the controls were so cumbersome, particularly regarding cover exit and entry - these actions almost always resulted in my death.
I look forward to what that team can pull off with Unreal Engine 4, and hopefully with the success and good will the game generated they will be able to drum up interest in their studio to hire more talent.

007 Blood Stone was forgettable, but satisfying. A popcorn flick in videogame form. I won't remember the story. I probably won't remember the levels. But I will remember that it was a fun ride however brief it was.
Anyone know why the driving sections were so god awful when Bizarre Creations of PGR fame were at the helm?

I beat that game legendary, for some reason I've been on an early gen mediocre shooter kick recently :P

I started playing Clive barker Jericho this week so I'm probably gonna do that next.

Let's see:

Sacred Citadel
The 39 Steps
Papo & Yo
Mars War Logs
Sang-Froid
Another World
Evoland
Bioshock Infinite
Walking Dead Survival Instinct
