Games you've spent/will spend 200+ hours on...

Have already spent (roughly from 'least played' to 'I-dont-even-want-to-know') :

Warcraft II
Animal Crossing - New Leaf (bought it for my gf, ended playing way more than her)
Shining Force II
Baldur's Gate II
Etrian Odyssey 4 (still working on it !)
Heroes III (played while alt-tabbed so much)
PSO 2 (hopefully for me, it'll never get released for the west)
Might and Magic 7
Zelda 2 (played way too much this one as a kid)

A class on their own :
PSO
Ragnarok Online
World of Warcraft

Future very strong candidates :
Fantasy Life
and some more World of Warcraft

I will spend more than 200h on Xenoblade X. Surely not at the first playtrough (but who knows if the world is really more than 5 times bigger than in Xenoblade) but at the latest with the second playthrough a year later.

  • Advance Wars
  • Mega Man Battle Network 2, 3, 4
  • Fire Emblem 7
  • Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones
  • Golden Sun + GS: The Lost Age (basically was one huge game split into two parts)
  • Gunmetal (Xbox, still the best mech game IMO, those missions were just so fun)
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
  • Unreal Tournament '99
  • Halo: Combat Evolved + Multiplayer (playing this and UT'99 on PC with mods in their early-mid 2000's heyday are two of my most treasured gaming experiences)
  • Socom 1, 2, 3
  • Gunbound
  • Ragnarok Online (sogood, can't wait for the true spiritual successor Tree of Savior!)
  • EVE Online
  • Planetside
  • Starcraft
  • Warcraft III + Battle.net
  • Diablo 2 + Battle.net
  • Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun (I remember a friend in elementary school brought the manual with him one day and showed it to me, blew my mind and I bugged my parents hard to get it for me for my birthday that year lol)
  • Baldur's Gate 1 + 2: Shadows of Amn
  • TES III: Morrowind
  • TES IV: Oblivion
  • TES V: Skyrim
  • Fallout 3
  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • Mass Effect 1, 2 (I love the game universe, but I don't really feel like playing part 3)
  • Dragon's Dogma + Dark Arisen

I've been around...

...with no regrets whatsoever; these games have shaped me since childhood and I loved and enjoyed every single second spent, good times :') I thank my dad for exposing me to most of this growing up, I still think he has really good taste!

I can't really think of any upcoming releases that really excite me enough for a 200+ hour playthrough except Pillars of Eternity, most games just seem so stale and soulless to me nowadays. I'll probably invest a bit of time into Fallout 4 and Rainbow Six: Siege too though.

edit: How could I forget to add Heroes of Might and Magic III, that game was the shit, I can't believe I forgot about it... now I feel like replaying it again (Fortress FTW)

2nd edit: ooooo I also forgot to add Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2, I wasted so much time on those, damn

Have spent:
Kingdom Hearts 1
Kingdom Hearts 2
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Super Mario World
Brawl
Melee
Golden Eye
Persona 4 Golden
Black Ops 2
Sonic Adventure Battle 2-->Chao Garden.

Will spend:
Kingdom Hearts 3
Persona 5
Smash for Wii U
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Destiny

P.S. Chao Garden needs to be on 3DS or iOS. I'd spend so much money on micro transactions.

Have spent (not exactly 200 hrs, but definitely a significant amount of time):

Halo Reach
Halo Combat Evolved
Monster Hunter Freedom
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd
Fire Emblem (GBA)
Pokemon Y

Will spend:

Super Smash 4 (3DS)
Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire
Monster Hunter 4

Smash Bros. 3DS and WiiU
Disgaea 5
CoD: Advanced Warfare

Are the ones coming up soon I can think off.

I've spent over 200 hours on too many games to bother listing.

The top few that come immediately to mind:
- World of Warcraft. (I quit in 2008 though)
- Skyrim
- Dragon Age series
- Witcher 1 and 2
- Baldur's Gate 1 + 2 and expansions
- Diablo 3

Expected upcoming time-takers:
- Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
- Dragon Age: Inquisition
- Witcher 3

-All the Bethesda games since Morrowind
-Alpha Centauri, Civilization IV, Civilization V
-Neverwinter Nights 2
-Dragon Age Origins
-Super Smash Bros Brawl

Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape Torment probably are both over 200 hours but I can't be sure since as far as I know GOG doesn't have a playtime counter. Pokemon Red is probably over as it was all I had way back when. Team Fortress 2 is at 172 hours.

Upcoming:
- Disgaea 5
- Persona 5
- FFX5

Game I spent hours so far:
- Every single Disgaea game.
- P4G
- FF series
- Agarest series
- WoW, I quit just before Wrath of Lich King expansion.
- Counter Strike Source
- C&C Red Alert
- Diablo 2 Expansion

Off the top of my head, some of those on my list include

Persona 4 (Adding both Vanilla and Golden together put me well over(
Puzzle and Dragons (just estimating from the sheer length of time I've been playing it)
Diablo 3

I know there are games I've spent that amount of time with, but that's just what I can think of right now. Plenty of games I've spent ~100 hours on.

Halo 3

I'd be afraid to know the exact amount of time I invested into the game. Probably in the thousand+ range.

But, it's a testament to the value the game delivered. So much content(combined with DLC). One of the few games that I feel have justified a $60 purchase and then some.

Like many have said Dota2. Im currently over 800 hours. If you count dota, Hon and dota2 as 1 game it would be multiple thousands of hours.

Single player wise ive hit that with some rpgs with replays like FF7, Suikoden. The others would be mmos like wow and swtor. I dont want to know what large percentage of my adult life has gone to those games....

I have spent so many hours already just on the freakin' demo of Smash Bros... god help me when the game comes out o_O

Probably Civ: Beyond Earth. Just started playing Hearthstone and I think it might end up sucking a lot of my time up as well.

I've made peace with the fact that there will probably never be a proper console release of a 4th gen Monster Hunter game. So 4U on the 3DS is going to be my timesink next year.

All the PSP Monster Hunter games (including Japanese-only releases).

Demon's Souls

Dark Souls 1 & 2

Can easily see myself putting 200+ hrs into Destiny.

Bloodborne when it comes out (and when I finally get a PS4).

Edit: Oh yeah, and Phantasy Star Online (both DC and GC).

Smash Bros.
Destiny
Mario Kart

Maybe that new CoD: Advance Warfare

Just off the top of my head.

This. Gears of War trilogy I'm sure I played 100+ each.
Multiplayer Shooters are my genre... halo, cod, that sorta thing.
Namely Halo 3 and Advanced Warfare 3.
Smash I'm sure I'm over 400 and still not that good. Lol

Currently at over 100 hours in Skyrim, and I expect to go for 100 more easily. I missed out when it first released, but now that I have a gaming PC in the same country I'm in, I can't stop.

- Phantasy Star Online ver1 & ver2: 1000+
- Phantasy Star Online Ep. I & II (GC): If not 1000 hours I wasn't far away.
- Phantasy Star Universe: Nowhere near the previous two I know it was over 200 hours.
- Minecraft: 1000+ easy.

Oh man I forgot the Total War games! Specifically:
Rome: Total War
Medieval 2: Total War
Rome 2: Total War.

So many amazing hours on those games.

Horizon 2 maybe....possibly GTA V in the future too.

Not sure I've put more than 80 hours into any single game in the last 12 years.

Have:
3rd Strike
Guilty Gear XX AC
Virtua Figher 4 EVO
Virtua Fighter 5 FS
Street Fighter 4 (regret)
Metal Gear Online 2
Soul Calibur 2
Bayonetta
Streets of Rage 1 2 and 3
Skullgirls

Will:
Bayonetta 2
Wonderful 101
MGSV

What can I say, I like my competitive multiplayer games:

-Team Fortress Classic
-Quake 3 Arena
-Counter Strike Source
-Goldeneye 007
-Battlefield 1942, 2, 2142, BC2, 3
-Halo 2, 3, 4
-Street Fighter 2, 3, 4

Single player:

Most recently:
-World of Tanks (360 version)

Upcoming:
-Halo Master Chief Collection (I will be playing this nonstop until they shut down XB1 Live)

Phantasy Star Online (playing offline lol) over 2000 hours
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Every Smash so far
Every Elder Scrolls Morrowind and after.
Every FPS Fallout

Will:

far too many I've spent that much on so i'll go more recent.

Payday 2
Street Fighter 4 (if we count all 630 versions)

Hopefully I put 200 hours into:

Civilization: Beyond Earth
Diablo
Mass Effect 4
Witcher 3
Pillars of Eternity

Pokemon Emerald
Pokemon Pearl
World of Warcraft (until 2010)
Dota 2
TF2
CSS
Smash Bros Melee and Brawl

Pokemon Blue
Demon's Souls
Dark Souls
Dark Souls II
SOCOM II
SOCOM 3
NBA Street Vol 2
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Will:

H-Hour (If it's still coming)
Halo: Master Chief Collection

Not a lot of games that I have spent more than 200 hours. I can recall all of them though so I'll start by chronological order:

  • Crash Team Racing . (Over 500 hours) This was the first video game I ever played. The PSone was my first console as well, and as a kid this was the only game I would play nonstop for months. I loved playing against my cousins and friends, and even against my mom (who used to play video games back in the day). I love this game and has a special place in my heart. I play it on PC through emulation software and on my PS3. I still play this game from time to time. Many great memories playing this game.
  • Dragon Ball Z: Boudakai Tenkaichi 3 (Over 200 hours)This game I really didn't play much on the PS2, up until I was able to get a decent gaming PC and downloaded the PS2 emulator. I never had a PS2, but my cousin did so I would play his, and we would always play Tenkaichi 3. We loved DBZ and anything related to DBZ and this is the best Dragon Ball Z game out there. I still play this game regularly.
  • Power Soccer (over 300 hours): This used to be my favorite soccer game, it was an online browser based mutiplayer soccer game. You could play against people from all over the world (just like you can today duh! and ever since the internet has existed, but this was one of my first online multiplayer games I played, so this was very new and exciting to me). I started playing this game back in 2007, and it was fun, or at least I thought it was fun. I had multiple accounts, and got one of my accounts to level 76 I think. It was a fun soccer game, nothing groundbreaking and somewhat competitive. It still has a player-base but not as many as before. From 07-09, this game was at its best as it had a large player base. Not so much this days.
  • Wizard101 (rough estimate of over 7,000 hours): and that's just a rough estimate. I wasn't going to write about this game, because like it's counterpart (freerealms) it was a "kiddie game." But I was only 13 years old when I started playing this game, the commercials seemed like Yu-Gi-Oh mixed with Harry potter both of which I loved. Anyways I spent way too much time on this game, but I met some great people and even made friends that I still keep in contact with until today. Yes it's a kid's game, but at its core it can get "hardcore" if you're into player vs player and just being the best duelist, having the best gear, the best wizards and the best pets. There's a lot of adults playing this games, mostly females. Anyways I'm not ashamed to admit that I really liked W101, as I was young and impressionable, lol.
  • Uncharted 2 (over 200 hours): Another game that I still play trying to get max completion for the platinum trophy on PS3. I have completed the single player campaign nearly 3 times. I enjoy Naughty Dog games and I explored every inch of every level and place there is in this game. The multiplayer was so addicting. I was able to get all of the DLC and so the new maps kept me hooked for a while. I also didn't have a lot of other PS3 games to play. I loved the multiplayer but every time I would get to level 30 I would try to reset my level to have a better record, lol. This is one of my favorite games for the PS3.
  • Demon's Souls (over 300 hours): My favorite souls games. I find Demon's Souls more challenging than either Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 2. I created three characters, the first two I did not like so I created a third one that is at level 86. My first two characters reached over level 30 but I didn't like their class or how I had distributed their points. So my third character was the right class and with the right skill points. A lot of trial and error in this game, and frustration too. I spent a lot of time always looking for better loot, looking at guides and defeating bosses in light and dark world trends. Yes this game was very addicting and very rewarding too. I used up of my Sticky White Stuff, lol.
  • Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (over 700 hours): This is my favorite fighting game. This was one of the firsts fighting games I tried and I loved it. Everything from the cheesy character lines to the chaotic nature of some of the matches. This game has it all, from weird glitches to extreme crazy things that can happen. The online gameplay is terrible but still fun. I bought an arcade stick to get good at this game, something I never actually accomplished. But I can hold my own. I love playing my Wolverine, Trish, Dr. Strange team and just go wild with wolverine on point and Trish's peekaboo assist.
  • Resident Evil 5 (over 200 hours): This is one of my favorite Resident Evil games apart from RE4, and RE3. I got the gold edition and didn't expect much from it but I was wrong. I found some friends to play this game with and playing co-op for the main storyline was a great experience. I eventually got the infinite golden egg glitch and I love playing at the hardest difficulty. I have completed the game 7 times, and from time to time I'll still play it. Not to mention that Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape are two short-like missions that have lots of replay value. The atmosphere in lost in nightmares is intense. It still gets me every time I play it.
  • Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen (over 400 hours): This is the best action RPG I have ever played. I even created a second PSN account to play this game because for some reason you can only have one character save in your PS3/PSN account. The pawn system was fresh and unique (well maybe not "unique but still). I loved the storyline (even though I thought it was the weakest part of the game) and the gameplay is just great. I'm still trying to get all of the trophies to platinum this game (I'm at 90% completion). What can I say about this game... it's just addicting once you're at level 60 with enough gear and experience to take on BitterBlack Isle. I would play this game from morning to night for almost a month (during the summer). This game is just great, it's a shame it's not available on PC.
  • Kingdom's of Amalur Reckoning (over 200 hours): Another great action RPG (at least the console versions are more "action-y") that I enjoyed. I got this game for free on PS Plus for the PS3 and started playing right away. I didn't like it at first, the gameplay was way below Dragon's Dogma. But I continued playing and I'm glad I did. The start was slow and felt generic but once I leveled up and started looting, I was hooked. The game has a great storyline and the amount of looting and classes make me want to play this game again. And I will because I just bought this game for PC on the Humble Bundle with all the DLC in it for just $8.00... So I can't wait to play this game once again on PC this weekend, on all of its glory!
  • Civilization V (323 hours as reported by steam): But I could swear that I have played more... as I would play in offline too (but I'm not sure if steam records offline play). This is so far my favorite strategy turn based game. I love everything about this game and every expansion (like Gods & Kings and Brave New World) make the game even better. The soundtrack is amazing, the mods there are some truly great mods out there, and just seeing your empire flourish and destroy other AI enemies or other players in multiplayer is just such an amazing experience. I can't have enough Civ, if it wasn't for college, I would play this game to death!! lol
  • XCom Enemy Unknown (over 200 hours): Another great Turn strategy based game that's superb. I remember watching AngryJoe's review and I had to check out this game. Luckily the game became free on PS Plus so I got it for the PS3. Once again I wasn't expecting much as I was expecting a water-down port of the PC version. But once again I was wrong. It looked and play much like the PC version and the game holds its own. It's also very addicting and I love the cutscenes and the fact that I was always adressed as Commander, and every decision I made whether or not it was the best one, was always the best course of action, lol. But eventually I got to beating the game on PS3 two times after one failed attempt (a total of three tries). I also got this game on PC and played it too. It's much better and the mods give you a real challange and more replay value. There's also Enemy Within which is also amazing with more value. So for this game I am adding my playtime from the PS3 and PC versions. Both versions are great but PC version is far better.

Those are all the games that I have played for more than 200 hours. Not many compared to other GAF members but I still play this games frequently so eventually some of them will reach the 400+ gameplay time.

As far as games that I expect to take me more than 200 hours are the following:

  • Euro Truck Simulator: I managed to get this game very cheap on a humble bundle sell and so far I've liked it.
  • Bloodborne: It looks like a more action oriented Souls game, with a much better atmosphere. I can't wait for this game.
  • The Witcher 3: I've played the other 2 witcher games and they were alright. The lore is amazing and I already see many things that the Witcher 3 has improved from the Witcher 2. I expect a lot of side missions and places to discover.
  • Civilization Beyond Earth: I cannot wait for this game, just a month away. Another month of sleepless nights saying to myself "just one more turn"! Ah... the wonder and joy of civilization games never fails to impress me.
  • Tom Clancy's The Division: I hope Ubisoft delivers what they promised. I hope the PC version looks at least like what they have shown so far. I will also try to get this game on PS4 to play with PSN friends. I cannot wait for this game!!
  • Dragon's Dogma 2: I really want a sequel to Dragon's Dogma, and I hope Capcom is at work as I am typing this. I really hope TGS shows us a glimpse, a teaser, just something about DD2! My most expected unexpected who-knows-if-it-will-ever-happen title.
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain: I'll double dip and get this game for PS4 and PC. I'll give it all of my attention since this looks like the Metal Gear Solid game I've always dreamed about. The other metal gear solid games were great but always left me wanting something more, something better. I feel like this is it. Praise to Kojima!!

That's it, High Five to those who read all of this! :D

I actually read every comment from page 1 to 10 while I was on my way home from school.
