GameTrailers' Kingdom Hearts Timeline Video

The video was very well-made. Makes the series' plot look beautifully tied together.

I especially liked the bit about how the Nobodies share the same names are their original selves only it is an anagram and there is an X used too. I can easily picture Nomura sitting there with his little sketch pad doodling away and going 'aha! Got it!'

I... actually understood everything. Really nicely put together.

Admittedly, it makes it all tie together really likely to the X-Blade, which has the same pronunciation as "keyblade." Was that intentional or just plain dumb luck?

Some of the HD BBS footage looks insane. If they just improve some of the textures and terribad models (keyblades at keyblade graveyard) it could look really good on the 2.5 remaster. I hope they go the extra mile.

They're essentially making shit up as they go along, with a broad sense of what will happen at the end (and probably of specific scenes and characters in mind) and then they fill the gaps as they appear.

Also known as the G. R. R. Martin way of storytelling. Although his universe I could derive much more sense out of than Nomura's. At least the character arcs are much easier to follow and there's none of the time-travel bollocks that bogged down Dream Drop Distance. Seriously, though, as creative as they no doubt are, some of these guys are in desperate need of an editor. FXIII with all its special sodding terminology and its propensity of relegating every explanation to a codex entry; KH with its evil spider web of a plot; Zelda with its confusing chronology... heck, I'm thinking right now that the Metal Gear saga (even MGS2) is actually pretty easy to follow by comparison.

Anyway, great work, GT. Slickly produced and expertly explained. At the end, I actually walked away with somewhat of an understanding of Xehanort's scheme.

My only problem with the KH series is that it's one of the only games with a continuous story spread about different platforms. It's kind of like Zero Escape:Virtue's Last Revenge in that if you want to fully understand/play through the story you either need to watch someone play through the games on youtube, find a video like this GT one, or buy like 4 different systems. Thankfully, this video is awesomely put together!

Managed to watch it.

The story in this franchise is such a clusterfuck, this well-made video only proves what a random, thoughtless and nonsensical mess it is. I can't say I'm much hyped for KH3, Squeenix diluting the brand with all these handheld spinoffs hasn't helped either. KH2 sold 600k in its first month on the PS2 in USA, I predict that won't ever happen again for this series.

I believe the main purpose of the HD Remixes is collect all the games on one system (PS3) along with giving Western audiences the elusive Final Mixes. I'm hoping 2.5 has DDD in some form, with some extra scenes to explain the "what-the-fuckery".

1.5 will have KH1, KH Re:Chain of Memories (both on PS2) and the cutscenes of 358/2 Days (DS)
2.5 will have KH2 (PS2), Birth by Sleep (PSP) and the cutscenes of Coded (Phones and DS).

Unless KH3 pulls a Persona 4 and comes out late, then we won't see KH3 until PS4. Or they could release it on both. Either way, WE'VE WAITED TOO LONG!

1. It's called "Virtue's Last Reward."

2. It's situation is not even comparable. In fact, you only need a 3DS to play both games in the series.

Excellent video, I really had a good time watching it. The story of the series really is going places, but this will no doubt help people who struggle with it. It doesn't make the story any less convulted but hey, there no magic for that.

I finished 1.5 HD when it released and I need 2.5 baaaaaad, even more after seeing this. KH2FM+ is my favourite game in the series.

Nomura seems to use strictly Disney IPs. I doubt we'll see Star Wars (or Marvel). Pixar though, hopefully (though technically Pixar isn't 'strictly' Disney but ehh)...

I want to know how many worlds they'll include and KH3 and what the purpose is of Sora going through a bunch of Disney worlds again.

dang...they have to include at least one star wars world

Regardless of my ignorance, I think it's fair to say that it's still a bit frustrating that you have to own a ps2 or ps3, 3ds, and psp to be able to play every game in the series.

DAMN IT SQUARE I WANT KH 3, it is my favorite game series and they just keep giving us handheld games. I really hope they do a ps4 release. We have been waiting long enough.

Exactly. Don't get your panties in a bunch when the Metal Gear timeline video turns out to be longer than either of them. :P

I have never played a MGS game but I'll still watch it when it comes out (in 6 months...).

I think it has something to do with nanomachines or something.

Playing some of the games and following the story through those was hard enough. Watching this video just turned my brain into mush.

I really wished they didn't even bother with this.

Total waste of an episode for me since I really am not into this series.

What is the next episode going to be? They said the 2nd series would either be KH of Metal Gear, so I assume Metal Gear is next?

it would probably be best to compare it to highly acclaimed novels, then other videos games. But that's just my opinion.

There is a tease for Metal Gear at the end of this video.

Oh yeah and I really don't get the delays between episodes.

Is it really THAT hard to produce a single episode that is under an hour?

These things could be banged out in a matters of weeks, not months.

Jesus. I only played Kingdom Hearts 1 and bits of 2. Never knew the plot got this out of hand. After watching it all, I understand it but they used the word heart way to much for it to be cool anymore.

Every other explanation was"She was part of his heart, or the darkness in his heart". Just kinda comes off as really corny. I don't dislike the series, just seems like its getting too complex for its own good.

This is just one of the many projects they do. Most of this time since Zelda Timeline they weren't working on it.

God damn it, just when I get out of the insanity that is the Kingdom Hearts series, I get sucked right back in by watching some video or listening to some soundtrack music. I guess I'll start my final Aqua play-through in BBS on my road trip tomorrow.

That hint at the end of DDD is very exciting, hopefully we can wrap this shit up and call it a day finally. Knowing Nomura though, he will manage to split III into two games. -_-

I really hope III shows up at E3. I think this every E3 but with no official KH game down the pipeline aside from a 2.5 remix I really hope we finally get this shit over with. I'm not sure how many more iterations I can take without getting a finale.

The thing about Kingdom Hearts is that it's always climaxing. Every game is always building up and building up and building up, but all of this means nothing if there's no end in sight which diminishes the feelings created by the climax in each of these games.
