Just curious about what PC-GAF is using. I've just bought a Logitech G5, and I'm loving it so far. I'm not necessarily better at anything - so far - but it's a damn sight better than the piece of crap laptop mouse I was using before.

Anyone got a favourite, or suggestions for settings?

I bought a Razer... something from Woot.com because it was $20. Replaced the MX Revolution I was using. MX1000 >>> Revolution, but my 1000 broke

The Razer's pretty snazzy, though. Takes a little getting used to, especially if you're acclimated to the big humps of Logitech mice.

Yeah, I really only play TF2 multiplayer-wise. I kinda feel like I should be messing about with the settings, but...I dunno, I'm still getting used to 1000DPI, let alone 2000. I love the weighs, though. That's the thing I thought would be most useless, and I've already fiddled with it a little to get it right.

And oh boy is it right now.

I was able to procure one of those Microsoft Sidewinders pretty cheap last december, and have been using it since. It was a huge change from my old Logitech mouse in that I could use just my fingers for the Logitech, but have to use my entire hand/wrist to move the Sidewinder. All in all, I kind of miss my old Logitech more, simply because I don't need all the bells / whistles on this mouse.

And, nothing angers me more then accidentally hitting the "Macro Record" button on the Sidewinder without noticing, and then having my view freak out when the macro runs (I thought someone was hacking me the first time it happened :lol ). Having to alt-tab out and delete it, all the time fighting the mouses recorded clicks and movements is (while hilarous to watch) awful. The weights in the sucker are nice though.

Yeah, it's funny - I feel completely the opposite. I really don't find Razer's comfortable. Just shows how much it comes down to personal taste.

I've used IE 3.0 again since they re-released it. I love the shape and the left/right buttons but the thumb buttons feels a bit "cheap".

I have the G9 mouse from logitech for the desktop, and none for the notebook.
You can adjust the weight of the G9 so that it suits your taste. Its also pretty accurate.

Logitech MX500 and now G5 design is fantastic, the weight is great too.

I use now the MX1000, I love it, but the bluetooth can be annoying sometimes.

I really considered a G9, cause they're not all that much more expensive than the G5. But I'm not really sure I liked the look of them as much, in terms of assuming how comfortable they'd be.

Razer Diamondback for a year and half now, it's pretty great. It fits nicely in your hand, it's symmetrical so you can use it with both hands and it has enough buttons to do pretty much anything. Also, it's accurate as hell. No Linux drivers though, so some xorg-stuff is needed.

Is the G5 any better than the G7?

Currently I use a Microsoft Habu.

Don't make the same mistake I did, its a terrible mouse. The bundled drivers with it are horrible and outdated, when you go out on the internet to get the latest drivers/support Microsoft and Razer keep sending you back and forth claiming its the others responsibility. After a few hours of research, broken links, and tweaking my system I finally got SOME results. The claims about its polling rate are lies, it says it goes up to 1000Hz but it only hits about 700 tops, and sometimes the software dosent take effect after a restart and its stuck at 125Hz.

The only good thing I can say about it is the form factor is nice (as it is with most MS mice) and the blue light looks neat. Even then, the nice "feel" of the mouse went away after a month or two when the buttons lost their nice clicky feel and started to feel really cheap.

I can't believe I went from a Logitech MX1000 to this. I'm thinking about selling the MX1000 and Habu to pick up a G7.

They are pretty comfortable, my hands are normal and they fit quite well. Pictures on the net show the G9 with red leds/lights but you can adjust the color to every color of the rainbow

dont fall for the marketing shite, 3200dpi and 1000hz makes me laugh whenever i see it, all you need and will ever need is 400dpi and 125hz, unless you use super high sens and then 800dpi will do fine

only things that matter to me with mice is nice comfy shape, couple of side buttons and some nice smooth gliding mouse feet

Well I know that now, because after seeing 700Hz on my PC I couldn't tell the difference. I wont be fooled agian.

Still looking at that G7 but I'm not too hot on its lack of two thumb buttons.

I dunno about that. 1000hz and high dpi + low in-game sensitivity settings always feels the smoothest to me.

Cheaper. It's not wireless, and you can't save your settings to it, but I think that's about it. For what it's worth, I think the G7 is better looking, but that's not enough to get me to part with the extra cash (especially since I bought a headset today as well...)

I just got my MX518 about two months ago after using a standard issue generic mouse for a long time. It's amazing. I LOVE it.

I've been using a G7 for a year or two. Middle mouse button is dying/sticking and the battery life on the packs has dwindled to where I swap twice a day sometimes.

Been looking for a replacement, but haven't found anything that is so much better that I feel like replacing the G7.

What I'd like would be a combination of the G7 mouse with the G9's mousewheel/mouse3.

I don't use one. Haven't since I started using optical/laser mice. I think as long as the mouse has got some kind of non-slip surface, it shouldn't make any difference.

I think I am going to upgrade to a new mouse soonish or in the fall. Sometimes my mouse1 sticks.

I used a pad with optical mice for years then switched to desk only for a few years and now have gone back to pad. My desk is rough wood and it's fine for general use and slower games but not great for fps, at least now since my mouse is missing a foot.

So right now I am using a janky soft pad with the fabric pulling off where my wrist sits(on both sides because i've flipped it once i guess?). On this mouse pad sits a might black OEM 3 button plus scroll logitech. I do have my usb turned up to 500hz. Any higher and it's a waste as throwing the mouse around would still peak in the 500s. I'd like to test the dpi, it's probably 400 but maybe it's crappier than that.

I looked around at mice this weekend. I may get a Razer Salmosa when it's available to try a small finger grip mouse at a low cost.

That has got to be the most uncomfortable-looking mouse ever.

It feels pretty much like every other mouse I've used. I mean, your hand rests on the top, not on the side, and the top is completely smooth. I like the protruding side buttons, because they have a really good balance of resistance and give, and I never find myself accidentally pressing them. I had a Logitech G5 before this (actually I still do, this one's on my laptop and that one on my desktop) and I was always accidentally pressing the thumb button, which was really frustrating since it could wipe out time-consuming online form data by navigating me away from the page.

MX510 here, surprised at the amount of people with a MX518 and over four years of use though, seeing as my MX510 was purchased a bit over 3.5 years ago now and the MX518 wasn't announced at that time (well I don't remember it being at that time).

I just got myself a Logitech G9 Mouse (it was super cheap). It's slightly uncomfortable actually, maybe I'll get used to it? I haven't even had the time to try it out while gaming though so I can't really say how it performs..

One thing I like about this mouse is the possibility to switch between shells. Two shells were included with the mouse and they are both very different from each other. I wonder if there are more shells available or if there's anything planned for this feature? Seems like a very good idea to actually be able to switch between shells depending on what you do with your computer or who's using it!
