I was crazy for thinking the theatrical versions would be included.

Great points.Botolf said:Great art is created by acceptance of limitations, not in rejecting them and holding that the original intentions of the artist trump every and all consideration. The original trilogy was troubled and limited, yet it was wonderful. The new trilogy was safe and sterile, neat and tidy, and ultimately it was stiff and lifeless. Lucas has made his conception more important than the quality of the end movie. He vehemently hated how he was constrained and limited making the OT, yet he fails to see how those circumstances contributed to making such lean and evocative experiences.
Yes, George Lucas.adamsappel said:Great points.
Has anyone mentioned Jaws? Jaws is a far more frightening movie because the shark has such limited screen-time. Because the damn thing didn't really work, Spielberg shoots and edits the movie with that in mind. Spielberg could go back and put in lots of shots of a CG shark swimming in the ocean and chewing on Quint, but would that actually improve the movie for anyone?
Now that I think about it.. hologram projections for better concealment. Pretty genius...Gui_PT said:And in the very next shot, once he moves away from that spot, the rocks are not there anymore.

"A third of the movies in the set look like crap, the changes are dumb and pointless, and one of the the movies looks like crap in a number of scenes, but it's Star Wars on Blu-ray dawg! 5/5 Must buy!!"richiek said:Official review from Blu-ray.com:

Even though the reviewer slags on the changes, he gave the audio/video quality excellent marks, which confirms my purchase.

No it's just hubris. He could make even more money by bundling in the unmolested versions along with the molested ones.Bloodsent said:I am so disgusted by these additional unnecessary changes. The whole situation is a mess, because he knows what his fans want (remastered theatrical releases), but won't give em to them because he knows that no one would buy his shitty rereleases again.
This change doesn't even make sense. How did he fit in there? R2 isn't that precise in his movement and it is a tight fit. That literally looks like a crappy photoshop with a drop shadow.Tunesmith said:Looked at that comparison site prior to the BD release and am now looking again.

Bloodsent said:What I am saying is that if Lucas gives the fans what they are asking for in one release, in the long run he will lose customers, as they won't keeping dipping in every time he releases his crappy updated versions because they got what they wanted already.

lol, this is worse than the average videogame review.
There will always be the next step up: VHS to DVD to Bluray to 3D Bluray to ???Bloodsent said:What I am saying is that if Lucas gives the fans what they are asking for in one release, in the long run he will lose customers, as they won't keeping dipping in every time he releases his crappy updated versions because they got what they wanted already.

Did they just duplicate and rotate elements of the original frame for their botch job of an 'enhancement' effect?
Well this complainer isn't.afternoon delight said:And still all of the complainers will spend away and pick this up, just like that cartoon earlier stated. And Lucas will again profit from all of this and never be given the financial blackout he deserves.

"Back in 1977, we could only fit a maximum of six or so big rocks in a scene. But due to the wonders of modern technology, we can finally showcase the ten rock scene that the movie direly needed."Neuromancer said:I'd really like to know the rationale for changing the rocks in that scene.

Like Luke's lightsaber color when he's training on the Falcon, it was changed only for one shot that they used for the publicity of the Blu-rays and otherwise ignored.StopMakingSense said:The best part is that those rocks are not in the immediately following shot of R2 coming out from the rocks.
