Are they doing another remake of Robocop? All this trailer did was make me want to rewatch the original Gits.
And stop with the goddamn music covers!

Why the fuck would they use a shitty remix of a pop song. For fuck sakes.

Here I was expecting them to be smart enough to use that incredible Kenji Kawai opening...

Also, here's the live action shelling sequence from the Tokyo event, which was performed by a live orchestra.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, if they go with this as the intro...... JESUS!!!

Visually OK.

Sound... I much prefer the atmospheric music from the anime, but ok, this is Hollywood.

Story hints.... utter trash. I don't like that the movie focuses so much on her origin.

A bit worried when the technician said 'you are the first of your kind'. A Hollywood explain everything approach will ruin it. Leave some mystery.
Otherwise looks great, please please be good.

the first film will never, ever be topped. its cinematic perfection for me.

that said: trailer looks good and so much better than i feared.

As a fan of the original... That looks great.

More accurate to the source than I expected, race issues aside.

Looks great visually, but I really hope that isn't how they start the movie? It goes by her going down, firing through the window, head exploding and then disappearing on the way down. She didn't go inside... sorry, nitpicking here...

It looks great. Only pet peeve of mine is when the major exits the camouflage in the water. It look strange.

Edit: When does it release?

Looks good. Not all costumes work as good in live-action, but they seem to have matched the visual style very well.

The aesthetic is certainly different from the anime film, with a lot more colour saturation, but some of the fight scenes looked rather green screen-y. I do not expect it to beat the original anime film, but if it can flesh out its world in a unique way like the Stand Alone Complex standalone episodes, I think it could carve its own niche in the industry through word of mouth.

Not going to lie, looks much better than I expected it would. I won't judge on the story until I actually see it but this trailer definitely restored my interest in the movie.

I think giant 3D holograms would be pretty distracting for people actually living there.

Interesting trailer. The focus seems to be on Motoko as a character while in the original film her history and backstory was not specifically highlighted on. They do seem to be touching on the themes of the original movie, so I wonder how they will portray those ideas.

Don't like it. Looks like some French arthouse mediocrity with forced American leads.

"This is Major"...? That sounded weird from first person.

ScarJo presentation does not make me think of the Major or a rendition of it.

Yeah, I think they won't be as far as the original Oshii movie and the manga went with the character, regarding the
merge with the
Puppet Master etc. especially if they are looking for a potential franchise. Seems kind of an origin story of sorts.

There isn't a real need to explain anything or to have mysteries, she is just a top of the line cyborg, but not the only one in that world. But well, going for the origin story angle, you are special, it's just typical Hollywood writing.

This looks terrible. Setting aside the casting complaints, I was hoping this would still be competent.

It looks so bad. Why are they jacking shots and ideas from the original film when 1. they look absolutely rank in this amateurish greenscreen soundstage style and 2. they aren't even exploring the same themes? Like no shit the Major wasn't going to do anything in the nude in a PG-13 blockbuster action flick, so why even use that shot? The original film used this to explore the concept of identity in a digital future in a story about a character who was questioning what defined their humanity; now it just looks like Scarlett just picked an unfortunate color of jumpsuit. Why invite the comparison at all? This is kind of a step beyond evoking the original, it's straight up shoving pieces of it into a movie where it looks like they won't belong. This is just The Bourne Ultimatum with some shots stolen from a different movie.

also just lmao at Batou

The trailer didn't look that great, but god that live ochestra playing the original intro music sent chills down my spine.

Batoh looks like a hot mess. Rest looks fine. Also, that weird flesh-colored casing bit is a good way to get around her being naked in the opening sequence, but it still seems like a real odd choice.

While I don't agree that it looks awful, I do absolutely agree with the comments on nudity. Am sad when I see people claim that it was nothing but fanservice, there was nothing sexual about it. She's very unfeminine in that film on purpose and the lack of sex appeal in the nudity was a big part of that.
