GI July Cover Revealed: Infamous 2

I'm not feeling the new look. It's just as jarring as when a new actor comes into a movie or tv series to replace someone but plays the same role. That shit just rubs me the wrong way :lol I love the colors though!
 
so glad cole was re-designed. need to see him in-game though. him, and the rest of the cast, were so unlikeable. i don't know if that's something they can 'fix' though. it seems like something a developer can do or they can't. also hoping for more creative powers and some sort of graphical 'tweak' to make it stand out more
 
sony completely blowing their load before E3... whats wrong with them... LBP2, Killzone 3, and now Infamous 2. Any of these would have been Megatons at E3 conference.

Doubt it. More like GAF will expect surprises and then be completely be let down. I feel like Sony will lose this year's E3 unless they have the last Guardian playable. I can see GAF now... "Boring... yeah we've all seen that already Jack!!"

I would agree, but we haven't seen KZ2 or InFamous 2 and we've only seen a touch of LBP2... It'll all be fresh.

Why do you care if Sony wins or loses E3?

What's the difference between revealing now or then?
 
I want to see gameplay. It'll be nice to see if he animates any better than he did in the first, because that was awesome already.

i liked how euro/brit brutish cole1 was. Worked in the universe. anyhow, the ingame model is even uglier in infamous 1 than its art.

The new cole is a bit too pretty and generic looking. Sort of like the lead from dark void or something. Imagine this guy with shorter hair... aaack.

the one good thing about Uncharted/ND's art design + character design is that non of their characters, even early elena are generic in any sort of way. They all look/feel like real people. Even that old elena looks good to me. The connection you feel to blond elena, is from having played the game with her in it. Twice. If elena ver1 is what we got, I would probably have been okay with it. ND brings their characters to life.
 
character designs arent the end all be all tho, if they bring personality to his character then Cole can become more iconic, Kratos is iconic not just because of his looks but how hes always in rage mode which is personality based. Drake has personality which is why it works. I mean realistically what do you want him to look like? He's a white messenger, not much they can do to make him stand out if realism is what they are going for, give him a gay costume perhaps?

Looking forward to hearing/seeing more info on this. While I am a bit surprised Sony is announcing so many of these games before E3, inFamous 2 and KZ3 never would have been surprises I don't think. I do hope there is something surprising from them at E3, but this was pretty expected.

Also, I would have preferred they do a Sly PS3 game before inFamous 2, but after all the talk of this, I was pretty prepared the fact that wasn't happening. Hope we haven't seen the last of Sly though.

I'm shocked at all this hate. Cole's design in the original Infamous wasn't exactly a masterpiece. He was essentially just like every other bald, tough-as-nails protagonist out there. Look at Resistance or Mass Effect for instance.

This new look might be a little plain, but I much prefer it to the trite design that we see in so many other big-budget titles nowadays.
 
For people who played Infamous, how well does the demo do justice to the full game? I played the demo and thought it was ok, but is it a case like Dead Space where the demo didn't do the game justice at all?

I don't really play open world games much but Infamous seems like one that I'd like to try.

Demo does no justice at all to the full game. Demo feels like a training (no puns intended) sequence and was one of the most boring missions of the game. Seriously, the game is shit cheap now! GET IT! >:(
 
I wonder if there will be a more drastic design for Evil Cole. The new Good Cole design looks a lot more like a stereotypical good guy than Cole from the first one. Maybe they're trying to set up more of a drastic differentiation between the sides? Also Cole's design changed a lot over the course of the first game's development, that yellow jacket he's always wearing in artwork isn't even in the game, it's entirely possible that this design may change.
 
I can't say that I am digging the design for Cole, at all. His hair, beard, clothes and necklaces. :lol

I loved inFamous though and am still very excited about a sequel.
