dude AusGAF had to put up with that guy for nearly a year before his membership got approved, y'all didn't see nothing of that rabbit hole. A++ ban message.

who are we talking about?

How long do you think it will take to play through all of the MGS games?

I have only played 4, and It's been so long I can't remember how long it was.

It's been a while for me too but I'd guess like 10-15 hours each for 1/2, probably 15-20 for 3/PW/4?

Man, I'm so glad I'm always fast asleep when most of this shit goes down.

Phil Fish has always been one of my favourite GB guests, seems like such a nice dude. But he wears his heart on his sleeve and that doesn't mix well with social media. That makes you a target as cunts try to get a rise out of you.

so i know that there's plenty of nice people that this doesn't apply to

and this will seem out of nowhere for most of you

but i am sick of seeing a terrible post from someone being a hateful jerk and glancing to the left and seeing an avatar of one of the bomb duders

My first though was "It was Elektrixx wasn't it?" and it turns out I was right. I don't know why he hasn't been permed yet, from what I've read of his posts he doesn't learn a damn thing after coming back from a ban and he immediately hops right on the shitposting train.

Gerstmann, I'm calling you out, you trans-atlantic emmereffer. If you ever post a So Solid Crew on your tumblr ever again I'll be out.

OUT I SAY

Just woke up to the Polytron situation. That stuff is absolutely horrible. I really like Phil Fish, though I can understand why he might get under some people's skin, but I will never be able to comprehend the absolute hatred he seems to inspire in some. It blows my mind.

He'll get better. Ocelot's a bad first boss fight in my opinion, anyway. Although I can't actually think of one which would be better suited for a first boss - they're all pretty gimmicky and tricky, and the Tank (UP NEXT) is the worst one in the game. I like Vulcan Raven (explosive, not too hard, quite fast paced), both Sniper Wolf bosses (2nd especially), the Grey Fox one and Metal Gear Rex the best.

Doesn't seem like Drew is sold so far on any aspect of the game though! I hope he finds some enthusiasm as the plot continues to thicken, though. It's a good game if you can sink into it's atmosphere.

Using the C4 was great thinking, but running around in circles attempting to brute force the boss fight (and ignoring the fact that he runs away as you approach) was just excruciating.

vulcan raven, giant and shaman is such a dumb line.

Yeah. I actually played MGS for the first time about 2 months ago and personally, I was sold straight away on the crazy story. I loved the way it tried to ground itself by using military-speak and then how it turned the screw by having some completely insane characters and events. Loved that game, can't believe I hadn't played it before. Made a start on Sons of Liberty and got about 7 hours in before I kinda forgot about it. Now Drew's playing them, I should finish the series.

One of the things I was most impressed by in MGS was the sheer amount of spoken dialogue. For a game released in '98, it's staggering how much VO there is, but not only that, but the overall quality of the voice acting. It's actually better than a lot of games made today, especially those localised from Japanese.

That MGScanlon episode was such a drag. No learning from mistakes and stuff. I don't remember taking that many tries to beat Ocelot and it was only about a year and a half ago that I beat MGS for the first time. Also constant blaming of low resolution for not making out what's on the screen is also frustrating.

Dan really should have told Drew what to do after the 4th time he died. Watching Drew run around in circles for 45 minutes doesn't make for compelling content.

it frustrated my how Drew always ran the long way around to get to ocelot

Drew is the new Brad!

Yeah, I have absolutely no problem with Dan telling Drew what to do if he's been stuck for a while. I'm sure he'll do that the next time.

I'm not in a hurry, I know MGS already. Watching him struggle for 45 minutes was hilarious, and VERY tense. I loved it.

Who Will Win the Game Industry Rumble PAX 2014!?

Jeff just blew my mind. I never noticed the capital S in PlayStation.

リッジレーサー, as released on December 3, 1994 (JP).
バトルアリーナ闘神伝, as released on September 9, 1995 (US).
Wipeout, as released on September 29, 1995 (UK).

Also, it's spelt PlayStation.

Wait, are those cut scene numbers correct. I always assumed it was internet exaggeration.

So glad I haven't played any of these games now. Will watch a bit of Drew's attempt though

It was funny listening to Jeff claim that first person shooter warrants it's own division because FPS is so specific and ubiquitous, but third person shooters don't because nobody says "Man, I need a good third person shooter". Like he doesn't realize that the last generation saw third person shooters like Uncharted, Gears, and TLoU become incredibly popular and refined. On consoles I much prefer TPS to FPS; if I'm going to play an FPS (especially a multiplayer FPS) I'd much rather do it on PC.
