No PAX Australia for Jeff :/
Yeah, just saw that on Twitter.

He says he'll definitely be at PAX Prime, which is good.

But I'm curious, he wrote "I'm not going to Australia for PAX" was it just him that was supposed to go? I'm assuming no one from Giant Bomb will be there now.

Him and Ryan.

Had some Makers at the bar tonight for my man :(

And do we have a rough idea of when the shirts will be up? I don't want to miss out on them because I know they will go fast.

That's the image I used when I added Ryans tattoo to my avatar.

Does anyone know what it means?

Hmmm, you guys think that they'll stick with the current TNT and Unprofessional friday schedules?

For this week? I'd be very surprised if we get either. I could see potentially an UF where the guys play some of Ryans fave games, but I would predict either a break or a link to a classic episode.

I'm watching the old un-archived 6 hour retro livestream and Drew asked what everyone's Xbox One (1) was called, referring to the names you could see while playing Halo 1 multiplayer. Totally threw me for a loop and I suddenly thought I was watching a current video and not one from a couple of years ago.

Edit: Drew's is named "The Bear."

I know what you mean.

I'm so glad there's all these amazing QLs and other vids over the years. The Kirby QL and now the Boy and the Blob QL are just making me happy as Ryan squeals with delirious joy over cute things.

Mine was Donut I think?

I think they should do another Sim Golf livestream on Friday, make a little Taswell sim and let him live it up in his dream world.

I doubt that CBSi will allow them to take such a long break. By next week it will be business as usual. But I can see them taking a break from podcasting for a while.

I don't. I think the era of the 3-hour podcast is probably over. I expect they'll ease back in with 90 minute or 2 hour podcasts for a bit and a more renewed focus on purely games.

I also predict that Vinny may become the new host. After all, didn't he host the Hotspot for a while after Jeff was fired from Gamespot?

I also just got to the part of this week's podcast where Jeff talks about that theater in Chicago. I'm now really wondering what GB will look like this time next year if the new consoles launch in a fashion similar to Wii U, because I really do hear what other people are hearing: I'm probably reading too much into things, but between the CBSi struggles and the state of the industry, I do think Jeff is starting to be a little over gaming.

Picked up cook serve delicious because of that QL too (twice, pc and ipad!). Ryan really was a no bullshit kinda guy, so when he enjoys something, it's usually alright, or really dumb :D

Not right now. Doubt we'll get much until August.
Not to be rude but realistically they cannot have the site be empty for two-3 weeks. As brad said coming into the office helped a lot and I presume so did doing the podcast.

As for content of to site, I don't see it changing that much, when Jeff hosts it's more focused but idk about vinny.

Man I listened to the Bombcast last night. That was rough. Those last 30 minutes you could tell they were all breaking down. This is such a sad situation.

Jeff has looked the same for like 15 years.
Yeah, I agree. Except for dat bleached hair, haha.

Haha, no worries, not rude at all. You're probably right. And I always forget they're owned by CBS like Patryn mentioned. Taking a break until August would probably be too long.

The 3 hour podcast was a product of the 5 man crew anyway. Obviously it's going to be shorter even when it was just patrick missing.

I'd say 2 - 2.5 hours is the regular time now.

Also, while I am also still terribly sad over the death of ryan, people do get over or learn to adapt to a death of a love one eventually. I doubt it's going to hinder them forever other than the obvious fact that there won't be any more of that Ryan spark.

I think they will be back in the office and doing stuff by next week to. Maybe even tonight or Friday. But there is no way in hell are they taking a break from podcasting. Jeff made that very clear with a tweet. Plus, it is a point of pride to all of them that the Bombcast has never missed a Tuesday.

I would hate it if the 3-hour podcast was gone, but I would also understand it. I dont think it'll be purely on games though. Ryan loved to get off topic, but he wasnt the only one. Im sure Vinny will talk about Max, and the bart strike, and washing a CRT monitor in the drive way. Jeff will be talking about number stations and Brad will be trying his damndest to try and not fall a sleep.

I think Vinny would make an excellent host. I mean any of the guys could do it, and they would be great at it. But in my head Vinny can let a conversation go off track for long enough before going onto something else. And if he really needed to he could stop a conversation by dropping a big ol' Vinny style joke on it. The only problem with that is he might not be able to host the other live shows. I would imagine they would want a singular host for all shows. And Jeff has host the Bombcast before, so it might just make sense for him to take the role.

Jeff is a great at improvising. He should definitely consider exploring his options. Though I doubt he will now because he doesn't have a buddy to back him up. Vinny won't leave with him because he has a family and Brad doesn't have any sort of discernible talent that would be useful in a theater setting.

Oh, I agree that people eventually come to terms and move on after a loved one's death. My talk about the future of GB and Jeff specifically come solely because of his own comments on the podcast where he admits that before all this went down, he and Ryan did entertain the idea of moving on and just doing pure comedy somewhere (he specifically mentions Chicago). I believe he specifically says "Fuck this video game stuff". He also mentions that the timeframe for these thoughts was after a PAX where they did their panel and the Cards Against Humanity panel, which puts it within the past 18 months. I don't think it would be in reaction to Ryan's death at all.

I'd probably be saying the exact same thing in a world where Ryan didn't die if Jeff said the same thing on a random podcast, simply because it's kind of clear that the acquisition hasn't exactly gone as smoothly as they hoped. If on top of that the new consoles' launches sputtered and failed to generate new enthusiasm, then who knows what would happen? I'm not even saying that GB would shutter or anything, just that some people might move on to other opportunities.

I think the off-topic will be minimalized for a while simply because so much of it would revolve around the mourning process. Once we get a little further and life returns to normal I agree that the off-topic will return to prominence.

The t-shirt talk reminds me, there hasn't been a 'july 4th' sale this year for premium. Been just doing monthly after my gold expired... was hoping on getting back on the gold train for the sale... but I guess i'll probably pay full price when the ryan davis t-shirt is available to get with the coupon code.

I don't think you'll be able to get the shirt with the coupon, the whole point is the proceeds go to Ryan's family.

Actually, since I'm nearly TOPT, I might as well just repost the rest of the master art post.

The Ryan Davis Tribute Art Corner
The GB Facebook page has a head start, but I'll give it a shot. I'm looking out across the GB Forums, Gaf, the PA Forums, Something Awful and Tumblr atm and just anywhere else I stumble across. Link me to anything new you find, please. There's actually two up on the facebook page right now that i can't source or find if I plug it into google image search... (this one and this one)

Fox playing some tribute music

BONUS (older art not actually drawn in tribute but still rad):

Rewatched the old How to Build a Bomb series last night, forgot how hilarious Ryan's facial hair at the beginning was.

Vinny could do a great job as host, I think. He's like the dad of the group anyway.

Vinny took over from Rich as the main Hotspot host, way before Jeff was terminated.

He was a really good host.

Yeah my guess is Vinny and Jeff will take turns on hosting the podcast, TNT's and UPF's for now. Vinny still has to do his AV stuff together with Drew. Eventually I'd see them hire a new guy, not to replace Ryan of course since that not really possible but someone who can add something meaningful to the current team. I wouldn't mind Rorie being a more prominent member in shows and podcasts, but all depends on what the guys want to do themselves of course.

Also, I got the impression everyone was really psyched for the next-gen era. Pre-orders seem to be through the roof and there's a lot of cool games coming in 2014. This current gen. really took at least 1 year too long.
