God of War: GTTV Thread - There be spoilers!

^^^Well, what was your comment supposed to mean?

Surely you weren't posting something about how one fictional character couldn't possibly defeat another fictional character in a videogame.

Surely i was posting about how i think Kratos shouldn't be able to defeat everyone. Should be a limit, to ground the character. And that when i get to fight Zeus, i hope that i get to lose to him in an epic battle, and that if i defeat him...let it be by means other than a fight.

the guy kratos is killing on first person..

..i think it's probably the same from the beggining of the episode right?

I don't know, Poseidon is only second to Zeus when it comes to power. It would be strange for Kratos to kill him so early in the game. It would make sense for him to summon the Leviathan though.

Isn`t that the whole point about Kratos? That he is unbeatable against all odds? T

Why isn't Poseidon portrayed as an old man with long grey air/beard anyway? Not that I'm complaining (or calling for a plot hole :lol) but it's kinda odd.

Didn't Posedion show up in GOWII too?

Cos Zeus fills in that role.

Poseidon's design changed from an old dude in GOW1 to a young dude in GOW2 and that's the one they're going with now. You're right that's odd that two of the three brothers would be such different ages. Of course, one of the brothers is also a monster, so I guess it's not that crazy.

This is a perfectly reasonable sentiment.

Maybe if you had said that in the first place you wouldn't have gotten a dopey response.

Kratos don't give a fuck.

Like so? (Beware, could be spoiler)

It`s the german Review and it actually confirms that the first person fight is out of poseidons` head.
I think posting links to scans are not allowed.

Why would you write this in a God of War 3 thread?

Who likes this idea of a Pussy Kratos?

Kratos can defeat anyone with Sword of Olympus which originally belonged to Zeus and is the weapon that can be used to kill Gods and Titans

geoffkeighley Pro-tip: Our God of War 3 episode of GTTV is now up on PSN as a true HD download.

:D

What really? I hope it's not like Xplay where you have to pay for it, I'd rather download the commercials with it and be forced to watch the commercials each time than to pay for something that's pretty much free.

My internet connection sucks at school so it'll take hours to download the HD version of this from PSN. Anyone mind getting some clean captures from it?

$2.99

Well it cost them money to produce the show, the ads on the website and the commercials on G4 pay so you can watch on tv and the web. I wish there was a way to include ads in the psn versions.

that's just crazy...

even crazier... since Live is paid.
You're paying to download it onto your own system, ad-free.

It's not crazy, stop being cheap.

There is more awesome footage in that gttv episode than in any given episode of qore so its worth it but we have already seen it and we will actually play it in two weeks anyway. I will put that 2.99 towards my ultimate edition payment.

It's Zues. His gauntlets are exactly the same as in GOW 2, as well as his voice.

No, it's Poseidon. Zeus is an old man with white hair. The guy in the shots is a young/middle-aged guy with black hair. He also appears in the GTTV video where he
dives into the ocean and sort of summons the Leviathan

I'm not talking about the God diving off of Mt Olympus. I know that's Posiden. I am talking about the guy in the first person kill. I think that's Zues

I agree. Some color coding would have helped as well. Detecting the red color rather than a Circle shape is much faster process which doesn't require as much attention.

But I guess they wanted the QTE interface to be as transparent as possible.

When you have to tap buttons or operate the stick, the corresponding prompts appear (as far as I understand) in the bottom right corner (circle hammering), in the upper ones (R1/L1 hammering) or close to the action (stick action). The latter was the most difficult one for me to get right when fighting the Centaur in the demo.

This is actually the Stroop Effect. Have you guys ever seen the brainteaser where you have the names of colors written in various other colors and you are supposed to read the word and NOT say the color? The GoW team should have taken that lesson-- we see color much faster than we see form.

Look at the tattoos on the forearms (in the gif where he's crawling), it's definitely Poseidon.

I kinda doubt Santa Monica would let them spoil Zeus's death scene.

vvvvv he's still wrong, so don't worry about it. :P

One of the reviews confirmed that it's Poseidon.

Stupid question :D

Didn't Kratos already climb Mount Olympus once? Why is he riding the Titan up there if he knows the easy way up :D At the start of God of War, he jumps off the Bluff in a suicide attempt.

Watching that video reminds me of how personal GoW1's story was. I hope 3 recreates some of that magic.

I'll bet we perceive position even faster than color, and that's what they've utilized. The colors of the dual shock buttons aren't that vivid to begin with, and the pink square and red circle are too similar. If this was a 360 game, color would be a more appropriate indicator.

Reminds me of the terrible prompts in Dante's Inferno (demo). I could see which button it was for shit, and they were right in front of my face.

It's not totally clear, but that ledge he jumps from is not necessarily on Mt. Olympus itself, though the magical doorway to Olympus was right there. That cliff is just some place you can walk to normally in the game. Definitely isn't the top of the mountain. But yeah, it's not clear whether Olympus is like a real mountain always situated in the same physical place, or if you need magic to reveal it or what.

That's what I was thinking. I still confuse between square and circle during prompts.

According to GOW wiki, Posiedon has shape-shifting abilities. So this is why he can change from the old mo fo to the young guy to the huge trident boss.

Don't know if this is true to Greek mythology though.

uhhhhh...I still haven't really watched the video, but I did peak at about the first minute....and....oh..my...god....

WTF. I haven't even seen anything beyond the first minute with the Leviathan. It looks so fucking amazing. FFXIII was my most hyped game of the generation for me, and this has managed to completely kill it for me. I think I might just even pass on FFXIII til I play GOW3 cause I can't even focus on anything else. :lol

Zeus turns into all kinds of stuff in the myths (mostly for seduction/raping purposes), so it's not out of the question.
