I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case. No issue if it is though, let it bake. GoW was my favourite game of last gen, I’m happy to wait a bit longer.
Not entirely surprising, everyone wants to dodge the inevitable Elden Ring GOTY but still a bummer, was hoping for this year. We'll see if the rumor sticks.
Rumours say the same with Bayonetta 3. Wish games were more like films, finished, then a release date is picked.Nintendo sits on games all the time.
It's why they're able to swap release dates when needed like they recently did with Splatoon 3 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Rumor is Metroid Prime Remaster has been finished for a while. I wouldn't be surprised if Windwaker and/or Twilight Princess HD Remasters for Switch are as well.
The worst part was that even after Miles and HFW cross gen fiasco, he refused to state whether GOW was cross gen literally refusing to answer the question posed by a journalist at launch. Oh and on the same day, he ran commercials showing GT7 was a PS5 exclusive while other cross gen games in the trailer were accurately advertised as cross gen. What that picture doesn't answer is if it was ever a 2021 game. It clearly wasn't. Jimbo was not holding back with his BS in 2020.

Makes you wonder if Sony has the gaming rights for Community... given that they produced and distributed the series.I've seen this gif so many times, but it still is one of the best. Man first couple seasons of community were the goat.

Hermen Hulst Q&A: What’s Next for PlayStation Studios
Head of PlayStation Studios shares insight into what’s to come.blog.playstation.com
And for God of War, the project started a little later. So we’ve made the decision to push that game out to next year, to ensure that Santa Monica Studio can deliver the amazing God of War game that we all want to play.
And the announcement trailer had a big phat 2021 at the end.
To me thats BS, if it was 2021 release they would have shown us something, even its CG but no they just showed us title card.....It was planned as a 2021 game. Then got delayed. Lots of games get delayed, so why there's people here defending annual dates yes or no is weird.

Then they have shitty management, no one in the right mind would believe a game that showed absolutely NOTHING would release in 2021. Even game like KHVI which looooooooooooong way off showed something.GOW was initially a 2021 game. From a June 2021 Q&A with Hulst.

So management was supposed to know about an injury, I'm guessing, through osmosis, and have a backup plan? Then they have shitty management, no one in the right mind would believe a game that showed absolutely NOTHING would release in 2021. All I'm saying they released a trailer that showed nothing other than title screen, while putting 2021 at end of it......Most people including devs themselves knew this was not going make 2021 release date.So management was supposed to know about an injury, I'm guessing, through osmosis, and have a backup plan?
They could have simply have delayed it to the right year or not said it was a 2022 game multiple times. So management was supposed to know about an injury, I'm guessing, through osmosis, and have a backup plan?
Triple AAA game development timescales really have changed a lot in the last ten years.
Nope.Assuming any of this is even a fraction of being truthful....
Besides Forspoken, what big exclusives do they have for the rest of the year? Or is that it?
I'm hearing rumors of TLOU Remake for this year but those rumors are also implying PC Day 1.
Guess end of 2022 is looking light for all the Big 3 in terms of exclusives
Nope.
PC day 1 could be a mis-communication from what others in the know are saying. Could be factions is day to date is what they are saying for PC. But it seems Remake is legit and thats September. God of war late November.
Nintendo about to take over this year. Bayonetta 3. Zelda ages/seasons. Metroid Prime HD.
TLOU Remake September.
GOW R later 2022 (11-11-22 would be great)
Becouse awards and not you know, sweet sweet $$$ is what shareholders care about. It is known.Wait, you actually think companies will delay major games in their lineup strictly because Elden Ring released in the same year?
Just to avoid some sort of battle for an award?
It's a cool date. Why would that day be great?
I made this image which I think some people might find useful.
Thats such a petty reason..I really don't think that would be a big enough reason to delay a gameNot entirely surprising, everyone wants to dodge the inevitable Elden Ring GOTY but still a bummer, was hoping for this year. We'll see if the rumor sticks.
I'll wait for confirmation, you can continue hyperventilating. They could have simply have delayed it to the right year or not said it was a 2022 game multiple times.
FFXVI was technically never delayed, they waited until the game was fully playable from beginning to end to give a release date. Sony, before they had anything to show slapped a 2021 on a teaser that only contained a title.
That could very well happenThe only reason I could see this happening is not because it isn't ready, it's because right now they don't benefit from another big game this year. Unless PS5 suddenly catches up with demand this year sometime (it won't) they can't sell any more consoles even if it releases. They have Forspoken for the holidays. Xbox will have a lot of stuff next year so why not put this up there to keep the hype on your platform.
Why wouldn't it be?Why would that day be great?
Did the devs tell you this? And who would be most people? And what difference does it make? Most people are fragile and need a hug.All I'm saying they released a trailer that showed nothing other than title screen, while putting 2021 at end of it......Most people including devs themselves knew this was not going make 2021 release date.
Fat? Only if we consider what it's competition has released thus far (or failed to release)It's not delayed so far, and if it is then 2022 been a fat year for PS already.

How do you and the 7 other people who liked your comment come to this conclusion while being in your right minds when Sony's already released several huge games this year? I swear some of your brains are so filled with console bias that you can't think straight. If we're being fair, we should probably have 6 weeks of threads about how Sony project management is incompetent, just like that Starfield delay lol. And this game has ALREADY been delayed if I remember correctly. I've lost count.
It's a mess.I voted yes in that thread but only because i was sure it was never going to get delayed and wanted to have some fun. I still dont believe it.
There is no way in hell a straight sequel with last gen graphics and gameplay would take 5 years to make. Especially when the original took 4 years from scratch to make a fully next gen game with a completely different combat system and mythology.
The only explanation is what i had speculated last year. That Cory took all the best designers for his new IP and the B team was working on it, and they mucked it up. Even then, the B team at SSM put out GOW Ascension in 3 years while all the leads were with Stig on his IP that would eventually get cancelled. So it's not like this B team is unproductive. This game must have been in development hell at one point. This sequel shouldve taken 3 years max. Add 1 year for covid and Kratos getting injured, but 2 extra years? Im not buying it. This is probably a red herring.
Are you impressed they are able to ignore one year? They've managed to ignore a lot more than that. Say anything about Sony but if there is one thing they have been able to do consistently is to consistently release great games year after year. How do you and the 7 other people who liked your comment come to this conclusion while being in your right minds when Sony's already released several huge games this year? I swear some of your brains are so filled with console bias that you can't think straight.
You said fat already and that I would disagree with unless one considers it in comparison to it's competition.Exclusive-wise. 2022 still getting more exclusives not yet out.
“How can I make drama over a debunked rumor?”It's a mess.
I'm not surprised at the delay but I am greatly disappointed.
How did a straight up sequel which is using the exact same engine take 5 fucking years.
It’s pretty obvious, if you releasing a trailer and showing nothing then good chances are it’s not releasing same year.Did the devs tell you this? And who would be most people? And what difference does it make? Most people are fragile and need a hug.
