God of War is a good or maybe even a great game without a doubt, but its moment to moment gameplay left a lot to be desired and it's more like disposable entertainment for me. The story did enough to keep me hooked and I may be coming across as super negative, but I did actually enjoy it, it just didn't reach top tier in any category other than perhaps visuals.
Bloodborne on the other hand is fucking incredible. A great spin on the souls formula we've enjoyed for so long. It is unapologetically gamey and uses its platform as a "game" way more than God of War. I don't need over the shoulder, forced walking, over the top story, shaking camera, scripted sequences etc. I'm not saying games that have (dare I say it?) cinematic qualities are bad, but more often than not it's the games that let the gameplay and allow the story to be told in game that leave a more lasting impression on me.
Now, the Pro patch on GOW is fantastic. Bloodborne loses MEGA points because it runs like trash and honestly I hadn't played PC much the first time I played Bloodborne. It severely impacts my enjoyment and I think I could stomach 30fps, but that frame pacing and drops are hideous.
Sekiro is my favourite From game this gen, but Bloodborne could be a top of all time if it just tidies up well on PS5.
This thread is going to be great, but God of War shouldn't have made it this far and it 100% won't survive this round.
