I picked up Enclave... for 3 bucks it's good for a laugh. The graphics are really nice for a game from 2002.

I can't spend 50 bucks on all this stuff. People help me cut this list down please!
Edit: I don't know how to make the image on the right stick to the top instead of stay on the bottom sorry!
Jagged Alliance 2?
WC3 is nowhere near the worst* in that list.I'd drop the Creatures games and Wing Commander 3 personally, but apart from that it's a good solid list which is high in protein and low in fat.

*not that any of it is "bad"
I can tell you it works with Freespace 2 but it doesn't read the throttle lever since it's analogue. All the other buttons can be used and mapped.
I need a space sim for my flight stick other than freespace. Which Descent games? Which Wing Commander games? Help me GAF.

Ah I see. So if the throttle lever doesn't work in these games, there's not really a point to getting the Hotas then? Might as well just get a cheaper Logitech one that just has the stick?

Well the lever does have 5-6 buttons on it if you want more stuff at the ready. But yes, I would recommend just getting a joystick and using the kb for all the other commands.
Mages are insanely overpowered in Arcanum. Combat basically boils down to:Alright so uh...Arcanum. Wow it looks pretty damn deep.
What are some basic pointers for starting out?
I made a human who I guess is gonna turn out to be a mage. Currently she knows Harm and Minor Healing.
Read somewhere there's a pretty good party-member in a town or something but you have to rush over to where he is before he's killed off. No idea what that's about.
Yeah, my payment went through but I didn't get any games. I was hoping they'd fix it by now.Anyone else having problems ordering? Put in my info and hit accept but it just takes me back to the cart screen
So whats the worst?
I haven't played Creatures so I can't talk about that.
Out of the stuff I've played, Tex Murphy 1 & 2 are pretty awful. Under A Killing Moon and The Pandora directive (the next two games in the series) are far better.
Haven't played it. The general consensus is that it's a pretty good game with a much more serious tone than the enjoyably goofy UAKM and TPD. Doesn't sound all that interesting to me.Hows TEX MURPHY: OVERSEER?
I need help, should I get Ice wind dale 1 or 2?
Also should I even bother with either since I'm gonna' buy Baldur's Gate 2?

I think IWD1 is a nicely balanced and "shorter" RPG with a bigger focus on action that will give you a good introduction to the infinity engine D&D games (~20-40 hours compared to ~50-100+ or so). ...
No DRM, all games made to work well in DOS box, you often get soundtracks and other extras. Are there any other advantages to buying on GOG as opposed to gamersgate aside from the Bookshelf UI?

No really. Help me cut out the fat.
I don't remember if Gamersgate offers DRM-free installers on certain games but every single GOG installer works fine without an internet connection. Are there any other advantages to buying on GOG as opposed to gamersgate aside from the Bookshelf UI?
Oh man, I assumed he already had Freespace 2. If not, GET THAT since it's the best space sim on GOG by far. Freespace 2 Open is one of the best modding projects I've ever seen.Forget about Freespace (you can get Freespace 2 based open source games)
Maybe the GOG downloader application is confusing things? Just use the "download using browser" option since it's easiest. If the game is bigger than 2 gigabytes, you'll have to download multiple files before starting the installation. So I leave a game to download overnight and I come into my office this morning and there is nothing on my computer. I download the installer and it does nothing...
What am I doing wrong?
Also with gog- if I ever get it to work- does it receive updates from the developers? How does one go about updating games?

Do I need to play Baldur's Gate 1 before 2?
How about Freespace 2?
What's wrong with the KQ collection on Steam? You know you can launch the games individually using DosBox instead of going through the bizarre front end, right? This sale keeps tempting me to go back. Already spent $25, but the thought of just filling out the Infinity Engine collection, or rebuilding my King's Quest collection since the Steam package is garbage... maybe checking out Space Quest?
Oh dear.
Gabriel Knight??

It's a remake iirc of Martian Memorandum (or Mean Streets, one of the two). It's a solid game but not as good as Killing Moon or Pandora Directive.Hows TEX MURPHY: OVERSEER?

Do it!!! The best graphic adventure game of all time.
Nah. The combat's interesting and I have a good time with it but Baldur's Gate is a LOT bigger than that. And those romances you mentioned are such a small part of BG2 that I can only imagine your resentment of current Bioware games is influencing you.the best part of the baldurs gate series (the combat)
Just use a current build of SCUMMVM. It supports most of the Sierra adventure games now and it's a lot easier than setting up DOSBox from scratch.I didn't know that. I could never get any of the games to launch.
