Nice OP, could do without the hyperbole though. Firefox and Chrome are basically even in usage in the US, hardly 'in the dust.' And Google+ basically being integrated into Gmail and everything Google counts as a 'user.'

I'm interested in their tablet move and would like to see them take on the Nook and Kindle.

I know people keep laughing at G+ numbers, but they are slyly adding 900,000 users every day just by virtue of phone activations. Sure not many of them know about it, but when they finally go take a look, they're already signed up and ready to go. I've seen a number of activity from my business page, and to be honest, I'm really surprised.

Its dead copernicus... its dead

It's gonna be huge I tell you!

Nexus Google TV box by Vizio, Samsung Galaxy Nexus Dock with Google TV, Nexus HDMI stick by LG Google TV, Asus Google TV Tablet Docking Station.

They're gonna rename Google I/O to Google T/V next year. Just wait.

Seriously, people are activated by phone without knowing? That sounds really weird.

Gmail account = G+ account

If you activate an Android phone and don't already have a gmail account, it prompts you to create an account (much like Apple and iTunes).

This account creation is optional of course, but it seems pointless to get an Android phone and not plug into the suite of features like Maps/Gmail/Youtube/Picasa/etc.

Andrex and Google come hand in hand with hyperbole. It's expected.
Still love the OP.

Regarding GOOGLE TV:
  • Copy This (but with more storage in it)
    AppleTVMarch2012_35160082_04_620x433.jpg

  • Sell it in the Play store with some free content.
  • Come out with a new revision every two years.
  • Still give OEMs the opportunity to include it in their TVs.

That's it. I'm tired of this pussy-footing around.
Hell they can take the Galaxy Nexus guts and put in in a different shell - poof! Wala! Google TV.

Do any of these TV boxes let you use ESPN3.com or as its now known, WatchESPN.com? If so, I might be interested in using them.

The question would be does ESPN3.com or WatchESPN.com block Google TV. I know Hulu does. Some of these content providers are a-holes about what type of device can stream via the web.

Coco could probably answer that question, though he would have to be an ESPN watcher to answer it.

Yeah I heard that happens. I don't understand how they are detected though, and why companies can't get around that detection by treating the box like a normal PC?

A quick search appears to point to ESPN being dillholes and blocking GoogleTV browser access like every other media company.

I'll check later tonight when I get a chance.

There is this:

Technically it should work on Google TV. After 4.0 is all the same OS - though ESPN can also restrict what devices the app can be installed on :-/

Access to WatchESPN live video is determined by your TV provider and, in some instances, your Internet service provider.

Bah! To hell with these a-holes!

The thing that scares the shit out of me when I'm using MHL during a party is that some friend is going to send a ridiculous text or someone is going to sext me and it's gonna pop up on my notifications for all to see....

Shouldn't scare you, that's how a regular party turns into a great party!

Have you used incognito mode in chrome on the phone yet? It's great, except it saves the state of the app when you leave, and goes right back to wherever you were before when you relaunch, even the next day.

Oddly enough I don't browse for porn on my phone, but the chances of some girl randomly sending you a provocative picture are likely, though I'm sure you can disable notifications.

HAHA! I wouldn't want my phone docked out in the open, when you have X amount of drunken people nearby.

I'll be there again this year if anyone wants to meet up! I'm @Rahul on twitter. Hit me if you're up for it, I probably won't be checking this thread much next week.

I do have high hopes for Google TV this year. They really need to push that it has Chrome and Google Play apps access.

INCREDIBLE OP! Even if you do get banned I don't see the need for much updates to it - so the thread can live on without you.

Uhhhh... thanks? :p

Nothing about Chrome OS is pretty disappointing.

I was hoping Android and Chrome OS would converge over the years and make something really awesome.

I had a big section for Ivybridge Chromebooks and the release of Aura, but Google (plus)one-upped me by releasing them two weeks ago. :/

Probably so that they don't have to split the keynote again. I do expect some stuff on the Web Store and definitely Chrome for Android.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
My best friend has a Logitech Revue he got when it was still expensive. It was a running joke for what felt like YEARS on when that thing would get an update and not suck. At 1st he was okay with it, but it slowed morphed into worst tech purchase he'd ever made. He felt like he was a beta tester, and I remember the never ending "well I checked the logitech forums AGAIN and they said we might be getting an update someday...!" Hell we still joke about that shit sometimes.

So what are the chances if they drop Jelly Bean during the conference it gets fast tracked for devices OTHER than the Galaxy Nexus? Are HTC One and Samsung Galaxy SIII owners going to be left hanging for like 6 months?

I really liked what MS showed off with Surface, but I said before and after I'd really like a solid 7" tablet for like $250 (I'd rather pay an extra $50 over the $200 price for a slightly nicer device inside and out). I feel like 7" would be perfectly fine for my own personal usage, but I'm not really satisfied with the devices currently on the market.

I won a Revue from Google, so for a free piece of kit I was really pleased. Chrome on my TV was awesome. I feel like $99 is the perfect price for it.

Also I've been informed there are indeed two keynotes. Day 1's is 9:30am PST and Day 2's is 10am PST.

Hey, we the Revue just got 3.2 about two weeks ago man! (yeah this thing was a huge beta, I jumped in at $99 bucks so I don't feel too bad).

As for the updates, it's the same old story as always, it'll get pushed to AOSP, and then it'll take months for anyone to push the updates out. Samsung has been pretty good about updates, but it still has to be pulled and merged and tested. I think Motorola will get the JB update out there pretty fast though, they seem to have gotten a fire lit under them lately.

I'm probably getting Windows 8 Pro tablet sometime next year since my free chromebook is starting to die.

They'll be left hanging. But hey, they chose to pass on the Galaxy Nexus. The slow updates are now all on them.

I think you'll really like this I/O. Probably more so if you were going, since they're likely to give away the 7" Nexus tablet to everyone there for free.

Where did the rumor of a new nexus phone come from? Those usually don't come till the end of the year. Galaxy Nexus just came out the end of last year.

WSJ. They've been informed that there will be five Nexus devices shown off at I/O. One of them's gotta be a phone... right?

1. Nexus tablet
2. Nexus 4
3. Nexus TV
4. Nexus Chromebook
5. Nexus Padfone

???

The biggest megaton at IO would be:

Jellybean released. Updates rolling out now for Galaxy Nexus, HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

:'(

Well the Google checkout page for the galaxy nexus said it comes with 4.1 jellybean. Someone slipped up and put it early but I wonder when it will actually come out. I run cyanogenmod nightlies anyway though so I'm not too concerned. I'm just curious as to what's new. Gnexus will definitely get it first though. The HTC and GS3 however have custom UI's so good luck on getting timely updates for those unless you're running custom ROMS

So, the first day keynote will be 2 hours 15 minutes long. The second day keynote will be 1 hour 30 minutes long.

Google, I'm starting to slip over to the Apple dark side...hit me with something awesome at this conference to quell my thoughts of picking up an iPhone 5 in the Fall.
