Just click on "Learn more about Google+" and it should redirect you to a page that allows you to join.

Sent a couple out too, now by sending all I am doing is adding them to a circle correct? Shouldn't that send them an email that they can view/click? Tried it with my cousin and she didnt get anything. Just making sure I'm inviting correctly.

I send invites doing the status update trick. You just include their email in the "+Circles or people to share with" box.

I'm sure they'll add themes at a later stage. They have them for Gmail (which by the way has just gotten two preview themes with the new Google color scheme; one "normal" and one "dense" - I far prefer the latter, the first has too much spacing between stuff), so why not for this?
