Because people have been getting in through this.

They probably blocked email notifications to avoid this happening which sucks.

everytime I got to plus.google.com when I'm not logged in it always says I can login/join. I'm not getting the "overloaded" message anymore. I thought it was now open for everyone...

Same deal here. Although, two people tried to invite me last night and none of their e-mail invites came through. I'll keep an eye out throughout the day.

Just to get ready for it, are there any mobile apps that allow you to sync up with it for the iPhone? Or is that too much to ask for such a "limited" beta at this point?

Old invites seem to work atm. But can't get out new invites. When they open up invites again, I'll invite as many as I can. But until they've open up, we've to all wait.

I am getting people in immediately on other websites. I've just sent 2 invites and they both got in.

PM me emails and I can run some tests with Gaf users. Hopefully you'll get the email invite immediately and get in as well.

That's odd.

Another trick that seems to work is if someone has an email (which should work), they can forward it to the person they want to invite. That person can then click the Learn More About Google+ button. That should work (if invites are open).

This would overcome the emails not arriving issue.
