Love the show but glad to see new shows massive gordan fan here. Whenever me and the mrs spend a good portion of the meal doing stupid impressions of ramsey take a bite say damn ask if something is fresh then shut it down. Anybody used to watch the f word probably the most ridiculous start to a program ever. Just fucking watch it lol :

I half expect him to start shooting at the end.

US version got so bad near the end it was basically unwatchable. That's high criticism considering I feel the UK version is probably the best restaurant show ever to grace the air, and I sincerely believe that most who consider who consider stuff like bar rescue or restaurant impossible better simply never watched the original, and honestly, I think that behind all the bullshit that actually aired, ramsey was still doing the work of the gods with the show behind fox's shitty editing, which is why so many of them actually seemed to make it over the years despite thw quality of the show as it aired hitting the floor once it moved over to the us.

Ya I really loved that version. Just seemed more genuine than the ones from the US he did.

Yeah, I particularly recall the one with that actor, the "Ruby Tate's" episode. Guy seemed to have some depression issues, staff was taking advantage. I really felt for some of the uk resturant owners, and Ramsey really seemed to want to help.

I used to watch it early on, but got tired of the constant swearing and MTV style editing. It was barely about the actual food and mostly just arguments.

The success rate was not good at all either.

To be fair you can polish a turd but it's still just a turd.

If you're intrigued by the concept and what to watch something that is much better executed you should check out the old UK version.

True, but the producers of the American version seemed to have ONLY picked the restaurants that were completely fucked with zero chance of turnaround just so they could maximize the drama on the show.

I remember one restaurant was like 1.5 million in debt before Ramsey ever stepped foot in their door. At that point there's no saving it.

Yeah I watched a few episodes on YouTube a while back and it was much better, down to earth and genuine. It's a shame it had to be dumbed down for an American audience.

No. It came first and was then completely shown up by the US version, I've tried to watch numerous episodes and it's as dry as a sack of flour.

The UK version is actually about food and restaurants while the US version is about people acting in a faked 'reality series'. I could stand to watch maybe 3 US eps even though Ramsay finding rotten food in the freezer never gets old.

UK version is about actual restaurateuring, managing a business, getting clients, marketing and cuisine.

US version is about retards screaming at each other while crying every now and then.

Good. The US show was hot garbage. Totally cookie cutter.

The British show was more genuine, but I imagine he'd grown tired of that one too.

Considering they were all failing restaurants it's a fair bet they all would've closed without the show

I watch the American versions of Kitchen Nightmares and Hells Kitchen but compared to the original versions he did for Channel 4 they're really, really bad.

How for example is everyone who goes on Hells Kitchen US so terrible at cooking? It's supposed to be a show about cooking but nobody ever ends up cooking for the first 10 weeks as everyone gets thrown out of the kitchen. I mean I enjoy watching it purely for watching Gordon shout at them for being stupid, but it has to be set up. It just has to be.

Kitchen Nightmares US especially suffers from a very similar story each episode. Gordon goes in, says everything that's wrong but the arrogant resturaunt owner ignores him for the first 2 parts then suddenly in the final part they turn around and suddenly want to change everything.

it is even worse when they always have the same thing on the menu. You would think they would try to know how to make a risotto and beef wellington if they watched any show from a previous season.

.

I am pretty sure it is a combo of:
Scripting/acting
lack of serious applicants
Lack of sleep
nervousness/intimidation
perhaps even unreliable equipment

Guess I'll have to settle for Bar Rescue now as my sole restaurant train-wreck show.

Bar Rescue would be a much better show if they axed Jon Taffer, he's a dumbfuck that seems to just yell and swear because he knows he's in a television show whereas Ramsay did it as a genuine response to health violations etc.

Interesting that the stats don't mention how many of the restaurants he saved are still in business.

By a long way. It actually gave some insight into how to run a restaurant and didn't have pretend drama, tacky stunts and MTV editing in every episode.

Not many of them are open

99% of the those restaurants where so fucked up before Gordon got there to help oh and economy.

Show lost it's steam for me. Much like Hell's Kitchen.

Give me MasterChef in the Spring and MasterChef Junior in the Fall to keep me going all year pls.

At the end of the day you can't just go into a business and discipline people for a month and have their lives transform. A lot of people just don't cut it for business. You can't cram years of business knowledge and experience into a person in a month crash course. There is also external factors. Maybe it is impossible to compete in that area because major restaurant chains dominate it? Maybe the location just sucks? People like to think to themselves that if people just got off of their ass and really dedicate themselves to run a business that they will succeed. Unfortunately things aren't that simple.

Restaurants are generally a terrible, risky, irrational investment. I read a statistic that basically the vast majority fail.

Most businesses in general fail within the first two years of operation with a vast majority failing after six years.

Scripting/acting
lack of serious applicants
Lack of sleep

Reality shows in general are always scripted to at least some degree. You can't constantly catch lightning in a bottle over seven years.

The British version is one of my favorite shows ever. Sad to see him calling it quits.

The British version was amazing, I wish Gordon had enough pull to make Fox tone down the editing in his American shows, it's ridiculous.

I loved the "natural" feel of the original Kitchen Nightmares.

I can't believe he could put up with it for so long, I mean it's practically a completely different show. He sold out big time and I lost a lot of respect for him.

Still had it's hilarious moments though.

So much this. Love the uk version. Us version is such a hollow shell.

Yep.

An episode where Ramsay made a struggling British chef cook for his parents really stood out for me, the guy broke down afterwards and admitted he really need help. Gordon helped him out and he got better, it was very emotional.

chef gordon ramsay removes his face from between his wifes legs "this is the worst pussy i have ever tasted. and the rooms a fucking mess"

Best thing to come from this show.

Masterchef Australia? A bunch of adults who genuinely seem to like each other, working together and trying their hardest to cook the best dishes possible.

Masterchef USA? A bunch of adults who almost always despise each other, bickering and fighting to try to make it look like they don't have the personality of a fruit fly, oh and there's some cooking in there as well.

In the early years Masterchef Australia used to let the food speak for the contestants, sadly in more recent years that has taken a back seat and you now have the life stories of the contestants being played out BEFORE the food. And they continuously try to play up the back stories thus creating more tears than cooking :-/.

I watched Hell's Kitchen before i got addicted to Kitchen Nightmares, and as others have said i prefer the UK version. Although the USA version is great for a laugh at the OTT nature of everything that happens.
