The British version is one of my favorite shows ever. Sad to see him calling it quits.
Ya I really loved that version. Just seemed more genuine than the ones from the US he did.

I used to watch it early on, but got tired of the constant swearing and MTV style editing. It was barely about the actual food and mostly just arguments.
The success rate was not good at all either.

To be fair you can polish a turd but it's still just a turd.
If you're intrigued by the concept and what to watch something that is much better executed you should check out the old UK version.
British version was superior
No. It came first and was then completely shown up by the US version, I've tried to watch numerous episodes and it's as dry as a sack of flour.

I believe you meant to say; " dry as Gandhi's flip flop!!!!"No. It came first and was then completely shown up by the US version, I've tried to watch numerous episodes and it's as dry as a sack of flour.
I watch the American versions of Kitchen Nightmares and Hells Kitchen but compared to the original versions he did for Channel 4 they're really, really bad.
How for example is everyone who goes on Hells Kitchen US so terrible at cooking? It's supposed to be a show about cooking but nobody ever ends up cooking for the first 10 weeks as everyone gets thrown out of the kitchen. I mean I enjoy watching it purely for watching Gordon shout at them for being stupid, but it has to be set up. It just has to be.
There was an article on Cracked a few months back by a guy who worked as an inspector. He pretty much stated this.Restaurants are generally a terrible, risky, irrational investment. I read a statistic that basically the vast majority fail.

.
What the hell will Krang and Luthor do with themselves? If he had any self-respect left he would end MasterChef.
Guess I'll have to settle for Bar Rescue now as my sole restaurant train-wreck show.
Interesting that the stats don't mention how many of the restaurants he saved are still in business.
By a long way. It actually gave some insight into how to run a restaurant and didn't have pretend drama, tacky stunts and MTV editing in every episode.

I am pretty sure it is a combo of:
Scripting/acting
lack of serious applicants
Lack of sleep
nervousness/intimidation
perhaps even unreliable equipment
Reality shows in general are always scripted to at least some degree. You can't constantly catch lightning in a bottle over seven years.

So much this. Love the uk version. Us version is such a hollow shell.UK was a documentary about a professional chef helping struggling restaurants.
US was a television show on FOX.
The British version was amazing, I wish Gordon had enough pull to make Fox tone down the editing in his American shows, it's ridiculous.
I loved the "natural" feel of the original Kitchen Nightmares.

Yup its finally back after being on like 3 years ago.More Hotel Hell episodes?
Masterchef Australia? A bunch of adults who genuinely seem to like each other, working together and trying their hardest to cook the best dishes possible.
Masterchef USA? A bunch of adults who almost always despise each other, bickering and fighting to try to make it look like they don't have the personality of a fruit fly, oh and there's some cooking in there as well.
the British version aired on BBCAmerica in the states, which is what I think he's referring tooBBC? lol, it was Channel 4. We have more than 1 channel in the UK you know!
