I watched the video without sound, and you can even tell just by her facial expressions.
It's so surreal when stuff like that happens. I remember reading in the creepy mysteries thread about a newsreporter who committed suicide live during a broadcast. She had a script in front of her describing her suicide attempt and the hospital she was to be admitted to as if it was copy that was to be read for the evening news. As we've seen with Snaildog, depression can be horrible stuff. Christine Chubbuck was her name.

Yeah. It's pretty awful. The lady was admitted to a hospital. Seems she had a stroke.

CBS2 LA updated this morning that she didn't end up going to the hospital. She was checked up by EMT's onsite for the event, then was driven home by a friend. Hopefully she gets checked out by a neurologist soon.

That's good to hear. My mom is getting up in age, so strokes are not fun to think about. I hope things turn out well for her.

so when will there be an award show for music and not the industry?

although people here may know i very much hate the last two arcade fire albums, i still respect them (because of flawless funeral). but why did arcade fire winning not feel like the "yeah!" moment it should have been for indie? or maybe it was for some people?

there is no way i am reading this whole thread though sorry.

Because the seventy billion other awards were still fucking fails?

I'm definitely glad that Arcade Fire won last night as The Suburbs was a fantastic album.

Seeing them live (both times were at Berkeley's Greek Theatre) and have to agree that Month of May sounds better live than off the album.

It's funny as I was pretty much listening to Suburbs, Suburban War and We Used to Wait on repeat for most of Saturday.

Esperanza Spalding won... that's an award for music, not the industry?

On the CNN Ticker: "LADY GAGA BEING COMPARED TO MADONNA ZOMG THIS IS BREAKING NEWS AND VERY RELEVANT"

in other news: 4chan trolls are trying to spread the rumor that Serene the reporter has died, it's not true

I was happy to see Arcade Fire win. I'm actually surprised at all the WTF comments I've been reading online. I thought they were a fairly well-known band, but I admit that reading Rosie O'Donnell has never heard of them warms my heart just a little.

Ok, good. Because I'd like to get back to laughing my ass off at her flubs
Yeah, I hadn't watched it yet because I didn't want to laugh at her, and also didn't really want to see someone mid-stroke.

But I just watched it and it is, indeed, lol-worthy. Glad she's seemingly okay, though.

Yeah, Yeah im not too mainstream (whats with the Em hate Kanye-Gaf?) but lets give credit where its due.

If you love Alex the Kid or not - it doesnt meaning a flying fuck to me, the beat is powerful. Hes good and so is Miss Gray.

Now, as for Miss Monae - that was amazing. Afucking amazing. The direction Hip-Hop should be going but cant because the old guard is lead by a bunch of old gezzers way too protective of the genre.

Speaking of the old, much respect to Dylan - Jagger and Strisand.

Biber showed a little bit of heart (which he lacks) and he was better than the last to profomances of the night. Jaden Smith was pretty good. Usher is Usher - always good.

Antbellum is underrated as country singers. They needed all these awards because their way different then what they use now.

As for Miss Gaga and Miss Perry, the two warring factions use GOD but aint nowhere close to forgivness for me. Its just petty bullshit. Their preformance not that good but not horrible.

I love Celo Green and Miss Paltrow has been taking singing lessons. Where did THAT come from? Great form on a underrated performance.

Drake was even on his best behavior because he gets too lazy.

Rhianna - (see other posters for details.) ditto.

Like i said, the show was great.

The ending however...

Deflating.

Somebody doesn't like rock music :P

Wow that Arcade Fire tumblr is rage inducing.
Fair enough i can understand people who haven't heard them or heard of them. But yeah, 2 sell out gigs at Madison, a #1 album and a #2 album, with a band of incredibly talented musicians?
I think they deserved this.

And their live shows are amazing.

I don't get how "I haven't heard of them" = "they don't deserve to win"

What the hell people, use some logic. I personally don't think they should have won, but compared to the other albums in contention, sure, give it to them. They deserved it more than the other 4.

Metal's my thing (along with Urban music). The Muse was good though and I heard that song on V, the NFL Today (week 5). etc etc. Im not saying Arcade Fire is a bad band, but that was a horrendus first perfomance when everybody (Bieber included) were better/brought their A game/didnt shat the bed.

Well yeah they're a shock in contrast to all the slickly produced pop you heard during the night from everyone else. The fact that they use dissonant notes and sounds in their music for effect is something that especially stands out and it's something where if you listen to an album of theirs not bookended by processed pop it makes a bit more sense. Check out their "Funeral" album and then tell me they suck.

lol @ "Kayne". That's what some of his plaques still say.

I should have probably rephrased it as "Yeah i can understand how people haven't heard/heard of them". But yeah i agree, bands have won shit before that i haven't heard of to bands i know i'm sure but maybe they're better? Who knows.

Seriously, one of my favorite TV performances ever (others would include Laika on Conan, and ATDI on Conan/Letterman).

Oh yeah, Laika on Conan was incredible. I mixed up earlier, for some reason I see Laika I think Haiti for some reason, I'm stupid. Yeah, Laika on Conan is incredible.

Well, it was definitely neurological. Just maybe a transient event, or who knows what, until she gets properly evaluated by a neurologist. You don't flub an aphasia.

Watching the Eminem performances. Laughably bad. I can't think of the last time I saw him not lip sync. I Need a Doctor is simply a bad song, and follows the exact same progression as the other Alex da Kid pop rap songs (Love The Way You Lie, Coming Home, Words I Never Said, Castle Walls etc).
He lip syncs?

Skylar steps out from the shadows.

Jaden Smith annoys me so much. He just looks so smug all the time. Say what you will about Bieber, at least the kid displays some shred of humility.
he's a child, dude.
