Gran Turismo 5 Detail - Dynamic Weather, Course Creator, Kart..MORE FEATURES THAN GOD

It's like they are trying to sell this game to people who don't want it. I'm terrible and GT games, I don't even like them and I still fell like I need to own this. I'm going to rage kill a controller the first week I just know it and still.....WTF?

Well theres your problem, you played Prologue on an LCD :lol

GAF told me years ago GT5P had a night/day difference when switching from LCD to Plasma so guess what? I bought a Plasma screen for GT5(well, I needed a new tv anyway)

I used to play Prologue on an LCD and aliasing was all over the place. GAF said Plasma rids most of the jaggies and they were right :D

Prologue on Plasma looked stunning and much better than any internet still shot or video I've seen. I can only imagine a more polished GT5.

But, thats just my experience ;)

view distance is also a huge factor, when I sit like 2 meters away everything looks really good but you better don't get any closer

Plasmas also have their disadvantages, like it looks too colourful for me and the overall image has this soft look (don't know how to describe) that I can't stand and that's probably the reason you don't notice the aliasing like you do on a LCD. (and believe me I know how to calibrate a TV)

Full LEDs are out of question ... way too expensive for me

anyhow this game still looks really good, even with the jaggies

Plasma's have a softer picture? I thought they display a much sharper image overall..

at least my panasonic does anyways..

Is there a way to turn off the automatic steering that commences once you lose control of your car in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue? I can make the slightest mistake (i.e. not slowing down enough before entering a corner) and my car will spin out and the wheel will then spin out like fucking crazy. Why does it do that? I'm using a DFGT BTW. My analog sticks didn't magically move themselves when I lost control using the DS3, so why does the wheel violently spin, causing FURTHER spin on the car?

The reason the DS3's sticks don't move, is because they don't have servos/vibrate individually in each stick.

What your'e describing is losing control of the vehicle. If you were in a real car, in a spinout/lost control situation, your wheels would be moving side to side ferociously, so the steering wheel would snap side to side. Your steering wheel is simulating this.

Best advice would be to unplug the power to the wheel when you lose control.. and plug it back in wh..

lol i cant do this...

are you serious dude?

Playing B Spec mode shouldn't make you rage much at all. It's basically built for those that like cars or GT but find difficulty controlling the car.

Of course there are still a bunch of assists to help out new players if they want to try the A Spec mode.

By the way, speaking of steering wheel wipeouts, is it mechanically safe to hold on tight to the wheel while it's rotating? I always try to not make it rotate cause it's fun that way and gives you that immersive feeling, but does it fuck up the motors/wheel by any chance?

I'm in the exact same position. I didn't even like Prologue, but I'm probably going to get this.

No as in I should let it spin out or no as is I can hold on to it tightly? :p It's G25 by the way and I don't want that baby dying on me! D:
Hold on to it, its built so that you can resist the FF.

I'm a little scared by the people who don't realise how the FF wheels (which they spent a nice chunk of money on) are supposed to work.

obviously it is designed so you can counter the spin, it is, after-all, steering wheel designed for driving games.

I now imagine you and viper letting go of your wheel while emitting high pitched scream, every time you lose control of your car.

I think we've all done that at one time or another, when playing a racer in the arcades, and you don't realise the amount of force those wheels can generate. But the idea of spending a considerable amount of cash on a wheel for this kind of feature and then getting freaked out by it is very, very funny.

you can hold onto it. if you are strong enough it will cause the "Car's wheels" to not turn crazily but slide instead. which is why some drivers can correct themselves in spinouts by counter steering at the right moments.

Oh God no! :lol :lol :lol I know exactly why it spins out and I always hold on to it to prevent it from wiping out. Just confirming since we are on that topic after all! :p

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Confirmation is what I needed. Thanks! :D

If it does break, which it shouldn't, you've still bought a Logitech wheel and they treat their customers extremely well. So you don't have much to worry about.

I know. Logitech is fucking awesome! My friend's 5.1 Logitech Surround system's subwoofer died a couple of years ago (out of warranty, mind you) and when contacting Logitech, they send him the entire brand new set for free. I got to keep the dead system since the speakers were perfectly fine. Logitech = fucking awesome! :D

In my defense, I have never used a steering wheel for any game before :p

At times I've tried countering it but the noise the wheel makes sounds ROUGH. Which is why I felt the need to post my 'problem'. I wasn't sure exactly what I was supposed to do during the violent wheel spins.

To be fair, when I first got my G25, I had a hard time forcing myself to counteract the FF. With a new expensive piece of kit like that, you be afraid of doing damage to the motor by preventing it from turning when it tries to do so.

I was at least 2 weeks before a switch in my brain flicked and I realised the thing was DESIGNED to be fought against. :lol

Yes. :p

Never had the space for a wheel.. until now. And with GT5 around the corner, what better time to invest in a Driving Force GT? Plus I got it for a GREAT price.

Since we're talking about wheels, may I suggest this eBay seller for anyone looking for a DFGT:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...3&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123#ht_3536wt_939

Open box, but otherwise nothing wrong with them. Sure a hell of a lot better than the full price.
Hmmm, I REALLY want a steering wheel, but I've been meaning to get a G27, not a DFGT. I really want the better quality pedals and the movable shifter...but $60 is a hard bargain to pass on :( The problem is, I probably won't be able to get a G27 for even longer since I currently don't have a job...what to do, what to do.

I've never used a wheel but the theory is you turn into the spin to stop it not try and forecefully counter it, right?

sexay..

Honest to god. Exotics in GT really bring a tear to my eye... Here I am.. a 28 year old man. I've been waiting for Lamborghini/Ferrari etc for almost a decade? Not sure when GT came out originally, but its been worth the wait. The anticipation, the let downs, and now the delivery.

Sure these cars were in other games, but none would ever be done in the way that Polyphony Digital did them. It just "feels" different when you see a car in the GT series. It feels the same when watching Top Gear/Car replays/Races. Not sure what it is, but you all know what I mean. That photomode is insane. Jesus PD. Bravo.

Pretty much, yes. It's still fascinating that other developers are not able to come even close to PD's lighting engine. Fascinating and frustrating.

So let me get this straight, I thought the difference between the standard and premium cars was the lack of a rendered interior on the standard cars. But, it seems like the standard cars are less detailed? How in the world can you release a game like that? Especially when the competition has all their cars with interiors and of the same visual fidelity. I'm a huge GT fan - massive - but, this is just plain damn stupid. Seriously.

I agree with J, aka O, aka Larry Bird.

I agree with J, aka O, aka Larry Bird.

They can release a game because the standard cars of the series still look better than any in-game standard cars in any racing game on the market.

And they need not to worry about competition considering their game demo sold more than a full retail release of another unnamed title.

That and the premium cars have more detail than god himself.

my mouth is watering… and let me just say that car fanatics will LOVE this game, and not just kids or people who generally like cars and racing.

… or kids who are fans of creating your own course, or kart racing, or watching online-races (live), or (insert more features that we still have not announced).

Hopefully they'll announce more ONLINE FEATURES like Team Builder, Car Clubs, Auction House, etc.

When one of the competitors can even model one car to the same standard as GT5's 200+ premium cars, then you can say something was wrong over at PD. Until then, what you are getting is 200+ cars of unparalleled quality along with 800 legacy cars from past games.

The model has the same amount of detail as it does in game.

No one said its gameplay. its the photomode. Which means increased lighting samples, anti-aliasing, etc. You have camera controls as well to make car photos.

In-Game HD feeds are everywhere that look equally photo real,

with less anti-aliasing.
