Is there any kind of stats-tracking in single-player ( as in, how many hours you have played, how many cars you own, how many miles you have travelled etc. )? I'm a stast-whore, and while it is never a make-or-break situation, I would be a bit disappointed if it had none.

And yeah, my copy is still in shipping.

Yes.

GT5 update confirmed for Saturday
"We received a lot of demands for having more regulations placed on the online play. We're going to perform an update on the 27th that will include things like max power restrictions and weight restrictions," Yamauchi said.

GT5 December 1st patch
*not confirmed yet*
It says the patch will unlock (optional) damage for arcade/lower levels, rather than only be available for level 20 and up.

Furthermore, there will be a (small) performance upgrade. They expect more updates before Christmas.

Things PD are woking on:
Kazunori Yamauchi: In this release we focused on the features that allow close friends to race together. Online updates are planned of course for leaderboard and matchmaking - [they're] all planned in the process of evolution.

Ordered the Driving Force GT just now.
For $99 on Amazon you'd be insane not to buy one.

Now to either get a Ridgid stand from Home Depot for $30 or get a Wheel Stand Pro for $100 mmmmm
I'm so getting that.

Servers down again? Menus taking forever UGH
Indeed. I'm sitting here browsing GAF for 5 minutes at a time while waiting for GT Home to load. Sigh.

So what's the general consensus, 1080P or 720P. I'm playing on a 24" monitor and I think 720P actually looks significantly better.
On a 24" monitor I'd always go 720p, too. On my 55", 1080p looks significantly sharper (but more aliased - 720p 4xaa vs 1080p 2xaa). Still, I prefer 1080p.

Got Gold on the Top Gear Sambabus trial thing, finally. :D

After a lot of frustration it all came together and I managed to get into 2nd by the end of the first lap out breaking a couple into Gambon.

Then it took me until the Hammerhead to catch up to the leading bus, before taking him at the follow through. :lol

Crossed the line 2.6 seconds ahead.

If you're on a smaller screen, I'd stick with 720p. 1080p looks fantastic on my 56inch though.

Anyone else having problems with Top Gear challenge #1?

Those effin buses.
What a terrible, terrible first challenge. Those buses are so goddamn slow. And you start off last of course, so you need to drive more aggressively to somehow manage 1st in two laps, but wait - you get disqualified if you bump into another bus or knock over a traffic cone.

Yes, PD, Top Gear is all about driving slow cars carefully around the test track. Good job.

Any word on them realizing they made it so that ANYONE can start a race online, or edit room options?

This is probably the most silly feature ever. Last night a few friends and I played and it was hilarious. One time we were all talking about a good course to play carts with. It went like this:

Me: How about Autumn Ring Mini guys?
Friend 1: Sure, that would work.
Friend 2: No, I got a good one!
Friend 3: No wait, I'll select it.
*Friend 3 selects Autumn Ring Mini Reverse*
*Friend 2 selects Chamonix mini*
Me: Umm, we can't race carts on snow...lol
Friend 1: LOL
Me: Ok, so seriously lets try out Autumn Ring Mini.
*I select Autumn Ring Mini*
*At same time, Friend 3 selects Autumn Ring Mini Reverse*
*wait as 1 track loads, then another one immediately after.*
*we finally start a race*

:lol

That's not as hard as you think. I can remember at least two other games having that exact same trophy. I know Blur had it, and I know there was another one too. I almost always got that trophy naturally.

Cant you do it so Host only selects the course? I agree about starting the race though.

That's the weird thing. In the settings it said "Host Picks" but yet ANYONE could still pick the tracks, change regulations, etc.

That's why I think it's actually a mistake/glitch.

Challenge 1 was simple if you drafted effectively... Challenge 2's more of a problem personally... :|

I think that Log-feature on your Profile gives all of this information, but it is currently disabled because of network congestion :/

How well does Driving Force GT works? I know that this answer can be quite subjective, but i havnt really tried any of these racing wheels before and i want to get one mainly for GT5. I dont really want to use a lot of money on G27, so does Driving Force GT works fine? Does it give a good "driving feeling"? :)

Split/Second had it, but it also had heavy rubberbanding which made it a lot easier to achieve.

Break out the bubbly boys. MY DRIVER FINALLY WON A FUCKING RACE after 10 attempts. 1 win/11 races. WHOO-HOO! Despite it being a suped up Civic and sweating taking first, he. did. it! :lol

One race in the Sunday cup B-Spec down, two to go.
I can't wait to level mines higher right now he's stupid as hell. He actually lost with my suped up silvia. The car is way faster then the opposition too :lol

I have the Driving Force Pro (Official wheel of GT4) and I'm enjoying the hell out of the game. So the Driving Force GT - which basically just has a different button layout than mine - should be just fine.

I turned Power Steering on, and force feedback at level 8 out of 10 to give it a good feeling of resistance. On corners it has a great feeling of being able to tell what the tires are doing through your hands, so to speak.

I don't think it is, but most people are bitching (and rightly so) so PD is patching it Saturday.

The patches incoming sound great.

I love when a developer sticks around to add and sort features, this generation for me has left a bitter taste. the likes of EA releasing a game and then instantly forgetting about it is disgusting.

I think that's the one I got during one of the NASCAR challenges. The one where you have to pass x amount of cars, drafted the last car and went low and barely passed him right before the finish line came up.

Those online regulations going to include an option for only the host to start the race?

It's great dude... I love it. The pedals are the weakest part of the package imo. Kinda cheap feeling and no clutch, but they get the job done and I don't feel like breaking and accelerating are really affected. If I make a mistake, I never blame the pedals. Also, the wheel is a bit smaller, but honestly... who cares?

This is a great wheel. If you have more money to spend, there are better wheels out there, but I don't think for a second you'd regret purchasing the DFGT. I had a better one for a while, but I don't regret "downgrading" since then. I don't play racers quite as much as some people, and the DFGT seems like the perfect fit for me... quality wheel (that feels realistic) at a good price.

I've got an 80" screen and 720p looks better on it, 1080p is just too blurry.

720p looks sharper and dithering on the trees and fences is lessened, of course it is a little chunkier and the text looks worse but that's nothing major.

Tears just the same though.

damn quoted wrong person, sorry.

I want to get in on some karting/racing with you guys.

Add me: Evolved1

Helps to put Gaf:GT5 in the message.

Holy Crap, trying to gold A-8 License will be my death. 1-7 were pretty simple and easy, but 8 is definitely not.

I got that one just by not lifting, you have to turn in early and violently and you'll get some over steer. I got it on the second try of me not lifting.

i really hope those patches are true and theyll continue supporting it, that would be great news for me personally.

i hope the performance patch removes tearing, thats all im asking for now.

Tearing is big ask. I don't think they can do that in this quick update. It's a good ask though, I hope they are listening...

Ehm they are not adding features ( well not really ) they are fixing shit that's obviously broken or should have been in the game since day one.

If you're playing on a small monitor, take the extra AA that comes with 720p. Now that I've read that the 1280x1080 render has QAA, I'm gunna play the game at 720p.

It would be cool if they added they ability to go into a friends home page and see all of their photos. I like that you can view friends GT life stuff but they just expand on it. Lots of potential.
