How close are you?

Some tips that worked for me after trial and error:
- Don't rev the engine to red. Change gears earlier.
- In the beginning try to "pump" the gas pedal a bit, so the start is quicker because the tires wont skid too much.

Then it's just hitting that sweet brakingspot.
Works with automatic too, which was a surprise.

On the DFGT, you can use the knob to enabled TCS (which is disabled in the menu), so I don't need a proper-rev on the start and get full speed just fine.

I couldn't believe how tough that race was. I even upgraded my Yaris with a turbo and some other upgrades to give it some extra HP, and I still barely one the race. On the final straight I had to keep swerving back and force just to make sure the car behind me couldn't get around me.

Edit: if you look at the pre race participant list you can clearly tell they dropped a lot into their rides as well I think they all have around 138 hp.

I really wanted to tweak the transmission to give me a better top speed on the straight but I didn't want to buy the fucking transmission for this POS.

Yes, a good example of that is what happened when I was completing my first lap in the Yaris race. Two cars pulled on each side of me which screwed up my chances of blocking off both of them. I blocked the one on the right but that allowed the car on the left to go pass. It wouldn't be so bad if you weren't driving cars that are as slow as a Yaris.

I literally want to slap whoever was responsible for the Top Gear Test Track Special events. At first I had a giggle at the VW campers, and thought, yea in-line with Top Gear humour. But then the frustrations set in. Unfair failures derived from opponents bumping YOU not the other way around. Extremely stringent failure guidelines etc.

I thought that was bad, now the intermediate Lotus challenge. WTF. I've never driven such an insanely twitchy piece of shit. It spins at the slightest over turn with little to no feedback or warning given. Couple that with the insanely tough failure guidelines and it's the worst balancing in the game. Intermediate my ass, nothing else thus far has been as challenging.

I've even tried upping traction to 7 (which slowed the car down too much) and assists on. I'm still struggling. What's the trick here?

It's been driving me insane. I thought it was maybe something I added so I tried taking out all the upgraded parts but it still does it.

Also, am I missing something huge. Is there a shortage of races or what? A spec doesn't have that many races and most of them require unique cars which I don't have the money for. Also, what are the licenses actually for? The races seem to be unlocked by the level you are, not the licenses you've unlocked.
