Sounds kinky.

I'll give it a shot.

It just depends on the course you're on. If you're on a course like London, which has very few straights, you'll want short gear ratios, while if you're on a course with a lot of straights, you'll want longer gear ratios.

How the hell are you supposed to drive the lotus in the top gear challenge? Its completely undriveable. AGHHHH

This x1000. I'm baffled by how shit it is. It's impossible to tame the damn thing.

This is where these games start to feel overwhelming to me :lol

So, is there a guide or explanation dictionary or whatever for non-gear heads about all the stuff the tuning shop/menus do/does on a car? I've never futz about with them as I'm scared to make the car worse than stock.

I literally want to slap whoever was responsible for the Top Gear Test Track Special events. At first I had a giggle at the VW campers, and thought, yea in-line with Top Gear humour. But then the frustrations set in. Unfair failures derived from opponents bumping YOU not the other way around. Extremely stringent failure guidelines etc.
QTF. Takes like a year to get to 55mph in those damn things and then I finally started overtaking when I would downshift during a turn, almost like a speed boost in those bitches.

But then Late in my first lap I got bumped from behind and DQ'd. Got aggravating and moved on to something else.

Played GT, GT2, GT3Aspec, and skipped 4 (pretty much missed every game from mid to end of PS2 generation). Definitely having some gamer nostalgia with the license trophies, but right now I do one a few times in attempt to get gold and if I can't right away I just move on.

Totally in love with the game, first time using a wheel as well, which admittedly probably adds to my GT5 lust, but it's damn good times.

That is what happened to me as well and I had first place in my sights on the final lap as well 8/

At what level does damage unlock? I'm at lvl10 and there's still nothing.

Hit triangle for camera options and select a 16:9 aspect ratio. Then you can take 1080p pics.
Thanks. It's a shame there isn't an option to take 8 megapixel photos but they look great enough already.

B or A spec level 20. But if you wait a week or two of non-heavy playing a patch will unlock it earlier if you want.

I gotz it, by george, I finally gotz it.

Finally got it, some tips(that you probably already know)

The perfect launch isn't bouncing off the redline. You want it somewhere right above 5k. When you shift(at 7k or when the light starts flashing) doesn't really matter. If you're going by the speedo, brake right before it gets to 140. You want like a 139.99999 :lol

I also had to switch to the chase cam for this one, otherwise you don't know how good a launch you have since the ghost doesn't pop up for a while in cabin mode.

Would someone care to explain me why the hell I cant make a decent turn at 25 to 35 MPH. I can make it in real life, and this game supposed to be a Real Driving Simulator

It's not too complicated. Short gear ratios will make your car accelerate quicker while having a lower top speed. A longer gear ratio will make your car accelerate slower but you'll have a higher top speed. That's why I used London as an example. Top speed isn't important for that track, so you'll want to lean more toward having your car accelerate faster.

I just picked up this small computer desk from Ikea that is ideally suited for DFGT wheel.

It's the Laiva desk and is on sale at IKEA in Canada for $25.

http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/70176519

I don't have any photos of my set up yet but it works perfectly. It's small, stable, cheap, and there's a hole in the back of the desk for some moderate cable management.

Check it out. Only $25 Canadian and the wheel fits perfectly. Only downside is that it's not foldable for storage.

Hmm, I'm using plasma. Fairly sure I had my 200hz motion smoothing bullshit turned off too, so it may have something to do with plasma vs LCD, you may be onto something there.

What the fuck would a game's framerate have to do with the kind of tv you're using?
Nothing.

Btw, my preorder still hasn't come in... God I fuckin' hate Zavvi, but I had credit to redeem :/

Is it the same car you drive in real life?

Not just you. :(

Who did you order with?

Sorry to hear that. Let's suffer together, bros. *fistbump*

I ordered mine in Australia through JB Hi-Fi because they're so cheap compared to most other places. It was shipped two days ago but still hasn't turned up yet. I suppose I'll just have to dealwithit.gif

Ok, im focusing on the Licenses then "A" spec for now, so far ive completed up to IC all gold... EXCEPT IC10. I can finish 2nd for now which means silver.

That ferrari handles like a boat, but after a couple tries i got the hang of it. After lap one, im 3rd place but i can only make up 1 place in the 2nd and final lap. Maybe ill turn on racing lines just to see if im taking my cnr entries at the best place.

On another note, despite how great the majority of the game looks, theres some real eyesores in there. It may have been discussed before but definitely some of the lesser known standard cars and also the

It just doesnt seem to fit the level of excellence they pronounce and expect from them. (Note, i appreciate just how big this project was, but im just stating it as i see it).

Hmm, tempting, it's only £9.99 from the ikea website here, might have to check it out. Currently using an ironing board for my DFGT, but from the sounds it makes while i'm playing on it sounds like it'll ending breaking before long.

Yep JB for me as well :lol

any tips for the intermediate top gear challenge? i can't get a handle on that elise at all, just stopping it from spinning off the track requires me to go uncompetitively slowly.

Anyone who got the 458 Italia, can you tell me how it handles? I love that car and I wanna buy it. But I don't wanna spend all that money and be disappointed if it handles like a tank.

So when can I start running B-Spec mode in the background and just let my driver do his thing?

I kind of wish B-Spec was more like AC: Brotherhood's ally management subgame in which you just set/forget/profit based on odds.

It's nearly 3am, and i'm sitting here devastated that I decided to turn my PS3 off for the night.

I know for a fact that i'll be dreaming about that <1200kg/UK car popping up in the Used car lot :lol

I absolutely love the AMG at nurburgring event. Its so awesome!

That's been the highlight for me so far.

I'm surprised how much I like the Nascar stuff. I frigging hate that sport irl.

Edit: Right now my Bspec guy can't even keep the car on the track. I press nothing and he still spins out over and over. That can't be right. :lol
