Does the Collectors' Edition not include all 5 DLC cars?
Yes I believe so, the description of the CE says a voucher for 5 exclusive high end cars with custom livery and upgrades. So because it says exclusive I'm not sure if its the same ones as the pre-orders.

All the cars will be available as DLC just like with Forza 3 and it's "collectors edition " content.

Can't wait to play GT5, I love sim racers :D

seriously i had huge problems with driving the (black nissan?). But that is nothing compared to the guy before me, he was basically sliding off the ring every second. I ofc. took it way easier and picked a city track. It went well but the moment i tried to drive a bit faster i slided and lost control of the car completely. My girlfriend who have driving license tried to play and she was even worse than the guy before me. Seriously the game felt unplayable.

Same thing when my mate had a go of GT5P with my wheel and pro physics. I set him up on the London track with a moderately powerful car. First corner he is into the barrier hard. Second turn is exactly the same. I asked him 'would you try to take a turn like that at 160kph in real life?'...

The problem is not the car physics or wheel feedback, it is that it takes a while to adjust to the sense of speed. If people just checked the speedo all would be fine.

Some at GTplanet are saying that the damage system was in place for some cars. Specifically the NASCAR cars that apparently had deformation in. No videos of it yet.

And impressions from them have been very positive. Specifically for the rally mode which many people were worried about after seeing videos of it because people thought it looked like you were driving on ice.

It looks like they now have 3 different physics types. Impressions from Loxstokk at GTplanet

I’ve just got back from the beta rooms event in Birmingham. Played gt5 in 3D. The 3G effect was very subtle on the example I saw. The physics were excellent. There was beginner, intermediate and pro. Pro seemed v similar to gt academy demo. Extremely difficult on the narrow roads of the nurburgring. Intermidate was a great compromise of difficulty and feel. Beginner was similar to prologue standard. Graphics were excellent but we already know this. Toscana was beautiful, especially to day to night transitions and the way the headlights pick up different sign posts etc. Handling was slippy as you’d expect, nothing unusual for a rally racing game. There were however variations in the road surface, going from sand up gravel to some harder stuff ( not quite Tarmac). Damage was a lot more dramatic than I’ve seen on previous videos circling the web. Saw some people mash their cars up pretty good. Polyphony can now say they have the best damage physics on a console driving sim. Didn’t notice anydamage affecting the car handling. Thing that most impressed me? Probably the feel given by the new physics. Probably the best I’ve experienced from a driving game. Pretty close to real driving, and that is a massive complement. Spoke to a Sony guy about a uk release date, he said the “20th of November or around there”. Sorry if my writing is poor, I’m typing this on my phone.

On the subject of damage

Went to BETA event today unfortunatley camera battery died before I got to record footage of nascar. The car was awesome as it had actual deformation damage and looked miles ahead of anything we have seen of the damage for GT5 except for the trailer. The rear bumper crumpled and deformed quite a bit exactly where I hit it. The other cars had damage like all other previous demos but the nascar damage was on another level. Hopefully someone recorded some nascar footage.

I was the one posting about the damage on nascar at GTPlanet. I can confirm that there was deformation damage to the car. I tried out almost all the cars except for the nascar and they all seemed to have a slighty updated damage model than previous events, however as I was about to leave I thought I'll try the nascar on tokyo. I crashed on the first corner intentionally and the rear bumper didn't just dangle but it actually deformed where I hit it. So I hit the wall again and the side of the car crumpled a little and the back of the car caved in a little. It looked just like the GT5 Damage Trailer. My time was up so I had to go. It seemed like the 2D version of the game in the racing pods where more updated than the 3D versions as the 3D version had some bugs while racing like textures popping up and alot of clipping.

Will post a video of some footage I managed to record. Unfortunately no nascar damage footage.

:lol why can no one drive well on the dirt?

we have yet to see anyone drive well on tarmac.

'oh look another tokyo video'

'bet he crashes on the first corner'

'nah, they have added in a huge coloured line to tell you when to brak....'

BANG

'oh.'

Is the bumper clipping through the bonnet/hood there on the left?

I don't see any clipping. What I do see is the right front wing (driver perspective) of the Enzo dislodged from the body.

Exactly.
Since you don't have an accurate perception of speed, acceleration, g force etc sitting on your couch it's hard to adjust. Same with all the people coming to my place to try the fanatec; they seem to forget that when driving in real life you DON'T suddenly turn the wheel 180° while travelling at 200kph (and actually FM3 is VERY forgiving on the subject) if your car is understeering in the middle of a turn, you don't just keep turning the wheel. A lot of people seem to think driving in these games is harder than real life, but they don't seem to think of what would happen if they did the same things on a real car.

I still don't know how Jeremy made it through that review without mentioning those headlights.

I was kind of surprised he thought it was THAT pretty. Without seeing 458 in person(yet), I'd take the f430 on looks. Mostly because of that rear end, which is gorgeous. Then again, 458 has a batter stance... argghhhh He's right about the 308 though, great looking car.

Well, the car looks like an older mustang or muscle car...

... and that's exactly the cars they used in the STANDARD car trailer...

hmm...

EDIT: or is it the new Camaro? :( I think it is... therefore would be a premium...

standard cars have no interiors... why even start talking of that shit if Kaz said so recently... you think they had time to update it for the demos? eh.

good impression from beta room people...i laughed to myself in another thread when someone said that handling is good as in GT4 and not much changed in GT overall :lol

i see night and day difference between TT and GT5P, and i am not THAT hardcore either .

I played GT5 yesterday at the PlayStation Beta event, and as expected its really, really great. In 3D is lovely and works really well because they have gone for depth into the screen instead of stuff flying out at you, looks fantastic.

I played with a Lamborghini Galardo around the new Rome stage, which plays very nicely with great sets of corners which as always with GT tracks, flows greatly. I also played the new rally stage with the WRC C4 which again was great, and the day > night lighting is stunning. Nurburgring and Tokyo are brilliant still of course, but we know about those tracks :)

There was damage on the vehicles I drove/saw, although the Lambo only got minor crumples after a couple of big smacks. Not sure if the damage is less on the Lambo or that it requires many more smacks than a WRC car to damage, but it wasn't getting the same level of damage as some other cars. The Galardo had an interior, as did the Audi R8 I drove.

It's great though, and in 3D its very impressive (and still 60fps but with 15fps replays for now - they have obviously halved that from 30fps replays with all the post-pro, hopefully they will turn off post-pro so replays can go back up to 60fps).

You can drive the NASCARs around the city circuits :) Its nice that the licence team haven't been cunty with the cars; they were at Codies in the earlier days.

Anyway, its awesome as expected.

If we want to get really picky...

The Ferrari Enzo's body is carbon fiber, and carbon fiber would not dent and bend, but rather break, chip, and crack. So, let's just be happy with the damage as it is. :lol

:P ;)

What is all this talk about standard vs premium cars? Is that an in game distinction or a monetary one?

I spent more time playing 3 and 4 than studying for college related stuff and I got mostly A's at a great school. So yea, I love this series.

I will honestly be very disappointed if some kind of DLC finaglery got into the game somehow. Is there any at this point?

Is the Top Gear stuff still going to be in GT5? I remember it being announced years ago when the test track as announced, where you'd be able to stream Top Gear episodes in game. But there's been bugger-all mention of it in years.
