Grapical issue with DQ8

I just got DQ8 for free at TRU today, I started playing and it has this horrible green tint that cause the game to God Awful and very bland. The only color it would show properly was blue(It was a pretty deep blue).

I tried it on 2 different PS2's and I still get the same results. I'm using the MadCatz component cables if that makes a difference. I put in GT4 a little before playing DQ8 and it looked fine. What should I do GAF, should I go out and return it for a new copy or should I go and buy new cable? I also tried fucking around with my TV settings. It had no affect.

Oh and besides all that, I'm really enjoying the game and hating myself for not getting it sooner.

I doubt it's the game. If there was an error in the pressing (which is rare), I don't see how it would incorrectly output wierd colors while not affecting anything else.

The only part that seemed normal was when you first boot up the game. The blue boxes looked alright but after that it looked like shit. Tomorrow I'll try my dads set of monster component cables if GAF doesn't have any ideas.

If worst comes to worst, I'll pay $10 for the PS3 AV cables. I'd probably have better luck with normal cables anyway. That or wait until October(PS3 time) to play the damn thing.

It sounds like one of your component cables aren't plugged all the way in. Check your connections.

yeah, sounds like your red plug is not all the way in... odd that GT looks fine though.

Well, I figured it out. The red cable's gold thingy was pulled out(I.E. wasn't connecting to the wires), causing it to have issues connecting. I'm using a pair of monster cables and they work fine...what's odd is the Mad Catz cables and the Monster cables are exactly the same other then I can't use the monster cables on the Xbox.

I played DQ8 for a little today after everything works and its awesome. The first boss is kicking my ass so I'm going to level a bit before screwing with him. One thing tho, the CD label looked like it was melted. I'm 100% it wasn't caused by my PS2 so I'll wait a few days and it it leads to problems I'll return it.

How'd you get it for free? They have a deal going on or something?

No, I had stopped a guy from stealing a bunch of DS and PS3 games. I got GT4, DQ8, Syphon filter, and FFX for free. They also waved a few pre-order fees.

So how did that work?
Were you just the random law-abiding hero/citizen who saved the day?

Good job man. The world needs more people like that. Bravo!
