Gravity Rush 2 coming to NA, Gravity Rush Remastered is digital only

I'll still pick up the digital version, but I would honestly prefer a physical release myself.

Unless you work at Sony, I have zero idea why you or other posters are working so hard to defend them.

because the game is still coming. You have a way to buy and play the game. You can even import the game physically. I just think this outrage is a bit much. Yea it's a remaster of a vita game. They didn't even have to go that far honestly. I'm not shocked it's not getting a physical release here.

Just include Gravity Rush 1 with Gravity Rush 2 on the same disc...fucking SCEA.

This and Old Hunters Edition now!

Um, what did you want them to do here? There were print ads, GameStop ads both poster and video form, internet based advertising as well. How much more money should be spent on Tearaway which isn't even in the same realm of appeal of Nintendo games no matter how much you want to believe it is?

I don't know how much more money should have been spent on Tearaway. It's not up to me, it's up to Sony and their expectations. I'm trying to address the question of why that game wasn't a multi-million selling blockbuster, and why the situation of one particular game doesn't necessarily apply to another unrelated game.

looks like we're caught red handed, lets go leave so 5 star reviews for the nathan drake collection on amazon

Just play the game, if you can't stack it next to your other games and lend it to a friend, oh well tough I guess. And resell? Well if someone is that tight with their money, then they should probably wait a year until it goes on sale for $5

Playing the game sounds less important to some people from the sounds of things

Calm down bud, you sound like reselling / exchanging a game is some sort of unusual practice when the opposite is true. Have you never been to game store before?
It's like the outrage over Microsoft's (and other publishers) plan to deter second hand game sales at the start of this generation went right over your head. Most people outside of GAF fund their gaming this way and it has nothing to do how 'tight' they are with their money.

First Bloodborne has no GOTY edition, then Gravity Rush has no physical release, why the heck does SCEA continue to drop the ball so consistently?

HA HA. SCEA truly sucks.

Remember that time when the rest of the world getting Steelbook for Until Dawn while NA gets nada?

Remember that time when the rest of the world getting Steelbook for Uncharted Collection while NA gets nada?

Honestly I'll probably just pass on GR1 unless there's new content now. Just like I did when Oreshika went DL only. Already own physical for vita.

Happy GR2 is coming though.

Boooooooooooo!!!!! Dumbass SCEA.

Real mature...

No because everyone else was too busy playing those games instead of bitching about steelbooks on forums.

You say that as if we aren't getting the game at all.
I say this mostly because i'm pissed at the reasoning people come up to justify this stuff. It's more of a general principle. I personally think that sending games off to die in certain regions is a harmful thing for future titles of the same caliber.

We keep bringing up how their marketers know more than us, and so we should shut up. The same fucking marketers who not long ago kept telling how games with women don't sell. How games with different ethnicities don't sell and other such bullcrap. Hey, they have the numbers, they're probably right ! Didn't stop a bunch of people here getting pretty mad about it and pushing for change, so we dont have to suffer through generations of semi cinematic 30 Yr old white man killbang sim. A diverse landscape not only in protags but in styles of game is healthy, and would help to encourage more different stuff in the future. Pushing for visible marketing would be part of that. I'm not expecting a fanfare, nor that these games would sell astronomically but the bare minimum would be nice.

I mean we're talking about Sony here, not the quaint brewery from next door. No, it's sony with the gal to charge 60 bucks a year for online while not providing decent support, a playstation with features missing from an os that are so evident in 2015 it's baffling and still charges top dollar for digital even though you can find it half price on pc. Yet printing boxes with sleeves of paper with a blu ray disc is SO beyond their reach ?

I would be okay for digital if consoles actually showed any kind of progress toward that but so far, no.

LOL @ caring about fucking Steelbooks. Jesus Christ.

This really has nothing to do with GR or any other game. People want their purchase symbolized and validated with some tactile junk.

I mean, some people here defending SCEA's decision to not publish a physical release of Gravity Rush in the U.S may well explain it away with data and stats that we are not privy to, but how do you explain their decision to not release the Bloodborne GOTY and the steelbook edition of Uncharted?

I can get with you on the marketing front, Sony sends games out to die on a regular basis and is an issue that needs to be addressed. Digital-only though? For a game like Gravity Rush? It's not going to change much. Sony isn't going to push it in any capacity, which means that the vast majority of the people buying it are going to be the people who know about it and/or played the game on Vita, which is very few people. In the grand scheme of things, it isn't that big of a deal, and the focus of people's anger would be better served on SCEA's refusal to market the smaller first-party games. Digital-only doesn't doom games to failure, not letting people know about the game does.

Hope you guys @ Limited Run Games can try to get us the figma edition; unlikely but worth a try. I would still be interested in whatever physical version you are able to produce. Worse is I import the figma edition, and I won't touch digital unless it costs less than a cheap meal.

No because everyone else was too busy playing those games instead of bitching about steelbooks on forums.

LOL. Are you sure about that? Here's the response about the figma in JP/Asia version:

Reminder that this is what Japan gets in limited quantities.

OMG, are you serious? Hell, I don't care if this was the only way to get the retail version, I'd gladly buy an US version of that LE, & I platinum'd the Vita version including all the bonus DLC.

Hearing all the DLC from the Vita version is included for free was nice to hear, but $30 for igital only? Eeehhhh, I might give in when it goes on sale for about $20 or so, which considering how many times it was discounted & even was on PS+, think it'll lower in price eventually.

Looks like I'm preordering this then. Screw the boxart, I want that figma.

Where can I buy this?!

Edit - saw the playasia link.

Asia version it is.

What a dumb move by SCEA.

Of-fucking-course because we don't like special edition goodies with our games in North America.

So yeah, many people do consider physical extras in the game matter.

LOL @ caring about fucking Steelbooks. Jesus Christ.

God forbid people wanting what they want. They want choices and they don't get it.

Is it wrong to want both? Some of us like things like artwork etc.

good news, it costs less than this meal

im worried about how the game is gonna play on a ps4, the dualshock 4 controller does not seem right for this game especially the camera angle etc, i could be wrong,

Hmmm? Why? It literally hurts nothing for them to try a small run done.

SCEA's made their decision already. They're not going to spend money printing the game. Accept it and move on. All this does is come across annoying spam.

Oh good they get a toy. Good for them I guess. It still costs money to sell and no one's going to buy it. Just because people want the special edition doesn't mean they're going to rush out and buy it.

You..could not read the thread? I don't think it deserves a physical release, but a limited small print handed off to a small company wouldn't be bad for anyone. It'd cost a bit more, that's about it.

"For the scalpers!"

*preorders 5 copies* MUAHAHAHAHAHAH- *can't sell them because digital codes go too cheap* oh

Europe did change their mind on Freedom Wars. Then again, that was EU. Nothing wrong with trying...

I just don't want to hear gamers whining like babies again. I suppose it could be worse. You could be sending death threats to Sony thank god most people are above that though.

You could just leave the thread if this bothers you so much. People are upset, they can vent.

You know this has already happened with this game in the past right? That the vita version was not going to get a physical version but people raised their voices enough to make them delay the game and put a physical print.

You know that, right?

To be fair every other place in the world is getting a physical release.

Same for Fatal Frame...:/

Damn companies, why must you make me buy digital releases? I don't want to have to buy an extra harddrive or whatever to play a game. That's why I buy the disc!!!

Most of my PS4 games so far are digital anyway, as was my purchase of the original on Vita, so this changes nothing as far as I'm concerned. Hope the people who really want a physical copy get their wish, though.

Lol now we've stooped to "lol you're stupid for wanting a dumb box anyway just be happy you're getting the game."

God forbid PlayStation fans want SCEA to give their franchises a fair shake and present them to the hardcore fans in a respectable way. I mean, fuck us right?

Sucks about no physical release as I probably wont have internet at my house for quite awhile after october. I'll buy it digitally and just download it a a cousin's house or something.

Collecting games is as much as a hobby to me as playing them. Digital only is horrid.

I don't understand the outrage here though because there's an easily importable EU version ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was going to buy it digitally anyways so I don't really mind, the price being $30 is great

honestly Gravity Rush is niche so not really all that surprised

There are Yakuza fans who say they won't buy the English localization of Y5, and that was a similar "slim-chance" situation. It's absurd that supposed fans would base their purchase on that, especially with these games in particular.

I agree with this, if people refusing to buy just because it was digital-only costs us the chance at Gravity Rush 2 or more Yakuza games... well just fuck you all X-P

Again, very good points.

I do think there is room for a diverse selection of games, encompassing different genres, and different scopes. I don't expect PS4 Gravity Rush games to light the charts ablaze like Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto...and I'm fine with that. I just think they could be doing more to raise the visibility and appeal of these games above the levels that they're at now.

I agree in that the presence or absence of a physical version is unlikely to have a massive impact on sales of the game.

At the same time, we can see from comments here and on other sites (such as Sony's own PlayStation.Blog) that there is a demand for a physical copy of the game. If you consider that so many other small publishers are able to respond to fans' demands for physical, you'd think that Sony, the manufacturer of the system, could do the same here. They unquestionably have the capability.

Sony should not go into this expecting that it will instantly transform these games into multi-million selling sensations. They should do this to respond to their customers' demands, in order to foster a sense of goodwill and loyalty.

LMAO at the rage in this thread over a game being digital only. I collect a bunch of gaming crap, I have a bandwidth cap smaller than probably most people here, and I am really looking forward to the release, but damn people... Damn!

I support the campaign to get a physical release but no one is actually going to skip out on the title if it ends up being digital only right?

That seems a bit... much.

I'm the same, I already have two copies of Gravity Rush on Vita and was really looking forward to GR Remastered but now I lost intrest. Sad that people are getting used to less options when buying games, I like physical games since I like the collecting aspect and I lend my games to a friend that can't buy many because he's a family man. On the bright side (for me), February was already loaded with games that I want so I'll have more money to buy those (Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, Mighty No. 9, Street Fighter V).

It's physical in Europe, isn't it? I'll just import it.

Would the Asian version have both English text and voices? That option might be cheaper.

It's definitely a bit excessive. If you absolutely have to own a physical copy of the game, you can import it from Asia or Europe.
