Gravity Rush 2 online services to end on January 19

This is dispiriting; I loved everything about Gravity Rush and was ecstatic to see that it got a sequel.

Seriously, Sony? A game this niche, with very little demands on the servers, and you can't keep them running?

I guess Gravity Rush series will join Puppeteer as great first party games that Sony doesn't care about.

Yup, Sony doing their best to kill off all their super cool niche games :(
The main reason I prefer playstation is because of these type of games and it seems they're moving further and further away from them.

What a shame. Gravity Rush 2 was amazing, and it unfortunately released in a window where a ton of other really, really awesome games came out(like Horizon Zero Dawn). I played the hell out of it, and had a blast. I feel like I should pop it in again.

Gravity Rush was one of my favorite Vita games, and the PS4 remaster was also great, and the sequel was so much better. I would have killed for a Gravity Rush 3.

Here's hoping there's a flash sale on GR2 in the next month or Black Friday at least. Loved GR:Remastered but held off on GR2 at launch due to playing too many things at the time.

This.

Gravity Rush 2 didn't just boast stunning visuals, it also had an incredibly ambitious scope that I doubt could have been achieved on the Vita.

Yeah. That's pretty much what I said too, I don't really see how this could be much of a drain on their servers.

Lol! That's awesome. I love PlayStation All Stars, though. Man, that had so much potential.

Anyway, I can understand why SOCOM and Syphon Filter went away. To be honest, there are so many military styled games out there that they'd have to really, really do something brilliant to break the mold and revive those series.

Ape Escape has a chance to be revived, though, so I wouldn't count that out yet. I'd also love to see Sony revive Colony Wars. A next gen Warhawk or Starhawk could be something too. They'd be smart to stick to reviving or continuing franchises that at the very least have a unique identity. Man, I miss Resistance. Why doesn't Insomniac give us PS4 Remasters already!

Bumping as a reminder that there are only 10 days left to grab the Dusty Token rewards. You can join one of the token farming communities if you want to rack them up really quickly, but just playing naturally over the past few days has earned me nearly ~4000 (max reward is 6000), so I don't find them necessary.

This game really did look interesting, the chanses of them making some sort of offline patch is pretty much zero right?

What exactly gets lost, outfits? Progress?

Haven't even finished the first to start this one, have both but just haven't had time to play them.

The messages saying the timing for release hurt the game were from September, but I wanna say I'm not so sure about that. That release window saw surprise hits in the form of Ni-oh (new IP) and Nier: Automata (previous title bombed). I think those two titles benefited from good reviews and being very fun to watch others play on youtube/twitch, as it is fun to play at home. All three games had demos. I think the nature of Gravity Rush 2 just has niche appeal from presentation to game design.

According to a post on the first page, three costumes and leaderboards are lost. That's it.

Wish i had seen this sooner. Are the costumes and furniture stuff something you can get pretty easily in less than two weeks?

A little disappointing, I haven't even started playing my copy yet.

It's not that I'm really bothered about the content but it's a shame to sop people accessing it, if they feel they must shut this down then ideally they'd make these things available to people anyway as it's not as if they'll need to have content to entice people to do this stuff anymore.

Don't forget the extra furnitures to decorate your house. Cosmetic stuff, but would be a shame not to get it.
You can still get furniture/gestures/etc. from random treasure chests, but they will be much harder to come by without online help. They don't make any noise so you have to keep your eyes peeled.

I think so, but like I said a few posts ago, there are Token Farming communities that have popped up in the wake of the announcement so feel free to join one through the PS4 OS if you want to get it over with quickly.

I have this game since...like, april.. Every time this news about the online being shut off I think "ill have to play GR2 ASAP" but then... Uhhh horizon zero dawn...ok now to gravity ru...is that zelda? ok, now gravi...a new mario?

2017 was an awesome year and I have to play GR2 pronto!

Congrats sony you're seriously becoming EA now, with how many games you've shutdown and seemingly for no reason.

Maybe. It depends on how much effort you want to invest. You could probably get a good 500 or more Dusty tokens each day with a moderate amount of effort. With only 9 days left, 6000 might be tough to achieve (if you're starting at zero), but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

I'm brazilian and for whatever reason the physical edition of this game wasn't released here and finding it anywhere was pretty much impossible, so I either had to overpay massively or buy it digital and I'm a physical collector so yeah that wasn't really an option. It was sad, it felt like it would remain (to me at least) a lost game in the insane japanese renaissance of 2017.

Then out of absolutely nowhere, this game released here like last month and you can find it pretty cheap on some local big retailers. I found out about it last week and finally bought my copy (I love the first one like crazy), you guys have no idea how much I wanted this game... And then this? I mean I'm still happy I finally got it, but fuck Sony so much for the hurdles they placed for me to be able to buy and enjoy their fucking product.

I wouldn't call the game amazing in any way shape or form. It's pretty, and is good, but it has serious problems preventing me from recommending it to friends and family. The controls are not good, everything feels sluggish and Kat herself feels like a fish drenched in oil. The camera doesn't help matters, since the moment Kat bumps into something or a sudden input happens, it goes insane. The battle at the end of Wandering Heart, for example, made it impossible for me to ignore those two issues. That said, I did still enjoy my team with the game because everything else (music, characters, general art direction) made up for it. I'm going to do everything I can to help the Dusty Token farming community members get their stuff before the servers are shut down.

On one hand, I understand why they're taking down the servers (it's a really niche game that sold poorly) but it still stings that online services are gone after just a year.

Well, we already lost the White Kat Costume as it was a preorder incentive. Sony doesn't make it available for purchase after the launch of the game.

So we lost out on the opportunities of getting:

Mining Outfit (300 Dusty Tokens)

School Girl Outfit (1000 Dusty Tokens) Outfit from GR1

Shifter 1.0 Costume (5000 Dusty Tokens) Outfit from GR1

I really wished the patch after ending the online portion would automatically unlock these costumes than leave players later on with a sense of regret. The devs are fucking idiots for making this time exclusive. Terrible.

Wish the servers for Chromehounds weren't taken down so early.

The platform holders should be responsible for keeping a small server running for all these games.

With virtualization and dynamic scaling, there's little excuse for this stuff to permanently die so early.

In all the rack space they have, there's not room for a 1 year old game?

Wanna thank Agent X and Revolutionary for the replies.

My last question is, i know the platinum is still attainable after the servers go down but is that the same for the DLC trophies?

You're welcome!

Yes, all of the game's trophies can be earned without ever touching the online portions. There are some items that you can only get with Dusty tokens, but nothing that would prevent you from earning any trophies.

By the way, I have some good news. Sony decided to delay the closure of the online portion for another six months. Now you have until the middle of July to enjoy the online features of the game!

Wait really? Has this been officially announced or is this the first mentioning of it?

There is actually an in-game announcement (in your "Announcements" feed) about this. According to that announcement, the new closing date is either July 18 or July 19, depending on your time zone.

Awesome! I'm debating whether to jump back into No Man's Sky to finish up the DLC trophies but i think I'll go with GR 2 next. Thanks a lot, man!
