Gravity Rush 2 online services to end on January 19

nRvBTR5.jpg

I'm actually convinced that Ape Escape is on the cusp of receiving a grand revival.

The others are dead as dodos though, yeah.

I'll shed no tears, the online features in GR2 were some of the most shoehorned trash filler this side of Assassin's Creed. Aside from the occasional amusing picture popping up, all of it was pretty pointless. The treasure hunts never yielded decent rewards and the challenges offered pretty much zero incentives. There should have been some co-op modes included (The game was perfectly set up to offer them, even!).

Anyone seriously worrying over missing out on something by not playing the game before the features are shut off really shouldn't be.
While I don't disagree with the rest of your post, I still enjoyed the treasure hunts occasionally simply because they were a fun little exploration/puzzle, not for the rewards themselves, which were indeed worthless.

What am I getting for PS+?

Cuz the "free games" became donkey shit after it became required for online play.

If your interested in the game, PLAY IT BEFORE THEY SHUT DOWN THE SERVERS!

I can't believe they are shutting the servers so soon. The game is gonna lose some of its fun contents when they do this :(

I always wanted to get into this game but wanted to play the PS4 version of the first game beforehand. The PS4 version is practically unavailable in any store which is a real bummer.

Your next best option is to import the HK PS4 release of the first game. The only difference is that the X and O buttons for menu and interface are reversed. Other than that, it's the NA version of the game.

I bought my copy digitally for like 15 canadian dollars??? what are you talking about

This sucks. I platinumed the games months ago, but I still play relatively often (great game to play when I just want to relax a bit) Sony is being very disappointing this gen, honestly.

Yeah, the rewards don't matter to me anymore, because I've already unlocked everything (I have like 20.000 Dusty tokens) but those Treasure Hunts are very enjoyable. And rating photos is cool too.

you should check last 5 or 6 months offerings
The last months have been worthless to me, to be honest. I didn't even re-sub and probably won't until Monster Hunter World comes out.

I was just thinking of buying this, this is some piss poor behavior from sony. Why am i paying for psn if servers are being taken down in 2017????
GR2's online doesn't require PS+

I wonder how many times we'll need to say this...

That's really disappointing. I bought GR2 day one, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet because I wanted to replay the remaster first. I'll have to bump both of those to the top of the backlog.

I'm completely baffled that anyone found the treasure hunts enjoyable. They were frustrating to all fuck and nobody knew how do take a good parallax photo with a useful emote or positioning and multiple landmarks in the background

It looks like they did at some point erroneously award 4000 dusty tokens to me? I quit shortly after hitting 8000 and i have 12000 on the rankings.

I'm trying to find where the massive split between people who got 8000 and people who got like 500 - few thousand are

If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the 220k list you can find all the people with 0 or 1 that just got the game and returned it or shelved it. The same people in this thread. Complainaing.

And no the game didn't sell 220k. I was very shocked to learn it sold over 100k in Japan in even because the ranking started out at a pretty set 80k people at launch and slowly climbed to 100k from what I assumed were returns / 2nd hand

e: somewhere around 8600 people
which also seems way too high. That would be about 4% or a little bit rarer then the number of players who have the platinum trophy. They definitely shoveled some base amount of gems onto people at some point and for everyone's sake i really hope it wasn't 50% (my 8XXX -> 12XXX) but was infact giving everyone 4000 for free
Although probably a huge problem with the game's online system is allowing literally any player to slowly query this 200k slow as fuck database scoreboard. If it loaded actually efficiently i'd trawl through the scores to see if there was a really sudden massive jerk up of 4000 points somewhere in there

This seems way too soon to be shutting down online services for a game that literally came out earlier this year. What the hell.

Yeah. Love this game, and it's obviously not even online heavy so I can't imagine it's that expensive to keep up so it's ridiculous that they are shutting down those features this soon.

Too many.

There were a lot of really good pictures with helpful background clues giving you a pretty decent idea as to where you were. I rarely was frustrated by it, and since there was no time limit, I simply took my time on the trickier ones.

Maybe 4 more times? I dunno.

How are you enjoying the game so far btw
It's pretty cool, but a bit padded, maybe? They tried to add more variety to the missions but some of the new mission types are really bad (the stealth ones, the starlet luring fans one I mentioned above, etc.), the optional mining stuff is pointless, etc. Though at least all that is easily skippable.

I enjoy the new locations
as well as the revisited old locations
, the slums are a bit boring and tedious to navigate but the marketplace and aristocratic district are pretty cool.

That hasn't been my experience, most of the photos I saw were very helpful (and I always made sure to take pics with useful landmarks and angles too). Although all treasure hunts in the slums area can fuck off xD That part has no real useful landmark, and is just too ugly, brown and samey and not really fun to navigate.

I don't remember this being an issue in other parts of the game, it could just be in that one area, as they do use colour filters in other places. The first chapter doesn't last long, so I would say try waiting until you get to the main area to see if the issue persists.

Yeah, the "problem" is gone in later areas though some other colour adjustments are made for different locations. While it's easy to justify it as an artistic choice, it's still a bit weird to get used to it. Loving the art style as a whole though :)

So no one bought this?

I think people bought it....it's just it's online engagement is low which isn't exactly surprising when it was kind of put out there as this SP game. The online stuff seems optional and holds no real weight to the story.

No it doesn't but ps+ pays for servers. What's the point of + then

Isn't this kind of asking why we have PS+ if F2P games can be shut down?

Like I don't remember PS+ stating that all proceeds will go to all games that has an online proponent regardless if it's delisted or not. I think Sony is within their rights to remove a server if the cost doesn't meet the usage.

just think about when this happens to nier automata

no more ending e

Then it cannot continue.

True, definitely agree with the criticisms. Like the mining, I never did end up bothering with that. There is some sort of boss rush thing in there though, maybe I'll finally try that one day.

Omg yes, fuck the slums, I always ignore any requests that deal with me having to go down there.

I'm to the point where I'm considering buying this game for people

I already shipped it to their houses

Disgusting behaviour. Far, far too soon to be doing that.

I'll add my voice to those saying the treasure hunts were really fun, and made great use of the game world. I also liked that notion of kicking the favour forward - taking a picture to try and help someone else find it.

I started the game late due to a mad few months at work, have just got going proper with it, and boom it's about to get kneecapped.

Hugely disappointing for me as I loved the first game and am really enjoying this one now that I've cleared the slow start.

I've been searching ebay for an affordable physical copy of Gravity Rush on PS4.

I've been meaning to get into the series, but I always start at the beginning, and I waited too long on this one. Sorry for not helping earlier.

This is ridiculous. I don't own the game but shutting down a key component of the game only a year into release is unacceptable. Fuck you Sony, it's pretty much guaranteed now that I'm going to let my PS+ subscription lapse.
