GameRankings - 86.56

MetaCritic - 87

Destructoid - 6.5/10

Gravity Rush is worth checking out, especially with the Vita being so quiet since launch, and as the system's library fills, this title will still stand out as something uniquely charming. However, one must be honest about the questionable design decisions that lets the whole thing down on a dismayingly consistent basis. Gravity Rush has everything it needs to be something great, but it takes all the wrong forks in the road and ends up rather unfulfilling. It's a real shame, too, because you it's so clear how brilliant it truly could have been.

IGN - 7.5/10

Reviewing Gravity Rush is a battle between my heart and my head. I love Kat and totally dig most of the superhero story, but the cumbersome combat in latter missions definitely had me cursing at my handheld. Still, if you're looking for a lite JRPG or cool comic game, you should dig Gravity Rush despite its flaws. Just don't expect it to justify purchasing your Vita.

VideoGamer - 8/10

Despite a few lengthy load times, a terrible name and an unimaginative character introduction, Gravity Rush quickly became a very enjoyable game indeed. It doesn't feel like a typical handheld title, either: Gravity Rush has the depth, length and graphical prowess of something you'd see on consoles. The mission-based structure is great for portable play and the story is worth the investment despite the many unanswered questions. It's easily the best experience I've had on the Vita thus far.

PlayStation Universe - 8/10

Gravity Rush is definitely a game worth your time, especially if you’re a Vita owner looking for something new. Even if this came out alongside dozens of triple-A Vita games, we would recommend Gravity Rush for its unique gameplay, its beautiful presentation, and its protagonist’s adorable charm. There are a few things that hold this back from being a mega hit—including boring combat and some occasional glitches—but Gravity Rush is a thrilling experience.

Game Informer - 8/10

Kat’s gravity-shifting powers are the star of the show in Gravity Rush, as the story struggles to maintain focus. Characters are constantly introduced and dismissed throughout the narrative, leaving you wondering who’s important and who’s disposable. Despite this, the upgrade system and gravity mechanic kept me engaged throughout the adventure.

Games Radar - 9/10

With a nondescript name like Gravity Rush, you wouldn’t be the first to mistake this game for a low-budget title worth skipping. But it’d be a crime to overlook – this adventure has such a vibrant world, exhilarating gameplay systems, and a delightful narrative that it deserves a spot in every Vita owner’s library. It’s the kind of game that wouldn’t exist on any other platform, and honestly, it’s so perfect for the medium that it wouldn’t need to.

JoyStiq - 4.5/5

Kat's ascent to the height of herodom takes place within a beautiful, anime/European world, as just part of a fascinatingly ambiguous, deep, and somehow simultaneously fun storyline. When I had completed Gravity Rush, I wanted nothing more than to play more Gravity Rush, which, thankfully, I could do. There are still so many gems to find, on so many walls I haven't smashed into.

PlayStation Official Magazine UK - 9/10

Kat is the perfect, charmingly reluctant heroine, and stylish, interactive cut-scenes reveal her to be endearing and smart-talking. Sharp characters and an utterly bonkers narrative combine with gorgeous visuals to create a wholly unique experience, and this is the thrilling and magical adventure that you and your Vita deserve.

PlayStation LifeStyle - 9/10

Gravity Rush has so many strengths, so few weaknesses, and is such a unique title, that it deserves some form of attention from every gamer. The premise and gameplay are so unique that we, as gamers, should reward and encourage this kind of creativity in our industry. It’s not a perfect game, but no game has to be. Playing Gravity Rush delivers sensations that I haven’t felt in years, and it’s truly unrivaled in providing this exact type of fun. Believe the hype. Gravity Rush is a game like no other.

Eurogamer - 9/10

If you're drawn to games by the satisfaction offered by their simplest mechanics, Gravity Daze is a total delight. You can spin between rooftops and freeze yourself in mid-air; you can drop from the sky and never hit the ground.

EGM - 9.5/10

Gravity Rush isn’t just the best game to grace the Vita—it’s also one of the best games I’ve played in some time, no matter the system. In so many ways, it shines with a beauty that so many games can never achieve, and it’s an experience you’ll absolutely not want to miss.

From Metacritic: 18 days 12 hrs 19 mins 46 secs until release.

Does seem a little premature.

Oh well, I already beat Gravity Daze and it was freakin' incredible. Can't wait to play it again and this time understand more than 5% of the story.

Well, two and a half weeks.

Either way, I'm looking forward to it!
Still can't believe the English demo never hit NA PSN yet, in spite of it being on the HK PSN since Vita's launch.

Apparently the UK demo is out next week. Playstation Access have been giving out early access demos...

Edit: Beaten :P

Having played an import version, the game was destined for mixed reviews. It has a niche quality that some will love & others will never appreciate the finer elements of it -- Jim Sterling.

Some good reviews and some ok.
Then there's IGNs, as I said in the other topic there is something Lazy about the review and I find it hard to take it seriously when you get to the end and it is 7.5 across the board for everything.

Sounds like it's going to be like Kid Icarus Uprising with how divided opinions are going to be. Either it'll be hailed as the greatest thing ever or a complete frustration to play. Gonna have to try it first, but I'm optimistic... it is, after all, one of the few games I've been hyped about on the Vita since first laying eyes on it.

GAF always complains that video games reviews are meaningless because of the perception among the public that games need to get an 8 or higher to be considered decent. Then Jim Sterling gives a game a 6.5 and everyone shits on him for giving a bad review to a game that you haven't even played yet.

Make up your mind ReviewGAF or just admit you let hype get in the way of taking honest reviews seriously.

Are there any JRPG elements in Gravity Rush?

Not many; if I remember you can buy upgrades for your skills using the purple gem things, but beyond that and the fact that it's open world, there weren't a lot of RPG elements to it. Kinda just a straight-forward action game.

I don't get the Sterling hate sometimes. I've almost always disagreed with his reviews, but for god's sakes the guy obviously plays through the freaking games and delivers his actual impressions, and I'm not sure that can be said about most actual review sites. Destructoid reviews almost always tell me something about how the game actually plays, that tells me more about how I'm going to like the game than even any of their opinions. Hell, if it was up to me, I'd really like all reviews to start with a map of the game's controls and go from there.

Glad to see it getting good reviews though, this and LBP are my #1 and 2 on my future Vita wishlist.

THE UGLY: Every other Vita game’s visual design after playing Gravity Rush.

No arguments from me. This game's art direction and style blow me away every time I see shots.

He gave the sound a 7.5 and called the soundtrack soothing. I'm not saying there aren't soothing tracks but the entire OST is way too varied to call it just that. I have a problem calling all of the tracks that play in the stages (like Pleasure Quarter and Infernal Paths) soothing too.

I don't think anyone is jumping on Jim.

I read IGN's review, and while I understand where they're coming from on the complaints against the game's combat, I don't know... I love having to whip around through the air, trying to get myself into a good position for attack, and having the potential to whiff. If the game had, say, lock-on, I could see it easily killing the experiencing of flying and of having actual control over that flight.

Maybe it's like the argument of recent Sonic games and the lock-on system those games have. Some people find it nice to have combat be easier, while other people think it's a stupid-ass idea.

There was very rarely that I felt like battles in Gravity Rush were annoying because of the way the game's combat works, and as even IGN says, the game provides you with an ability that can help compensate for that.

Gotta be honest. Have not played my Vita much outside the first week or two. This is truly the first must-have game for the system for me.

IGN thinks this is a JRPG?
I love the end of IGN's review. For all the categories the reviewer gave it a 7.5. This has a vibe of someone who messed around with the game for a while, thought it was overall above average, but never got deep into. Ah fuck it, 7.5 down the column!

If its from Japan, its a JRPG. Obviously everyone here should know that.

In addition to Eurogamer's score, I expect Edge to give it a nice score too, which would be funny considering how "harsh" they are on most games, effectively trading places with IGN. Are there many examples anyone can think of games were traditionally "tougher" press have given higher scores than the ones that toss perfect scores around? Seems like a strange disconnect.

Horrible box art but great to see some glowing reviews. This is the first game aside from Rayman I'll be picking up and with Resistance + MGS "HD", it'll be a good month for my Vita.

In other words - this is a really good game that isn't exactly what I wanted to play so I'm going to use this review as a soap box about why I know more than developers.

The games industry has hands down the worst critical press I've ever seen. Shockingly though it is an industry where sales rely pretty damn heavily on that critical press' review scores. Screwed up world.

Oh hm, not sure I like the UK cover

The frown kinda reminds me how they make Kirby angry for US boxarts to try and appeal to a western audience lol
The art looks a bit soft compared to some of the other artwork for the game
