Gravity Rush (Vita) review thread

Do the dudebros even know what a Vita is?

He'll yeah bro i saw this thing on YouTube of them playing Battlefield 3 on it bro it was SICK! I heard here's gonna be a new calluhduty and grand theft auto too! Is grand theft auto the one where you get to kill hookers and shit bro? I love that fucking game dude! Killing hookers, running over old people and shit.

Wait, IGN called it a lite JRPG? Really? That's not even remotely true. The game has a basic level up system for abilities, but that's it. This is not a JRPG and nobody should go in expecting that.

Played the game from beginning to end and it's currently my top runner for game of the year. The gravity mechanics alone made the simple act of moving fun. As if that weren't enough, the rest of the game is just charming as all fuck. Kat is the best. <3

Also the soundtrack is fantastic and still gets looped on iTunes whenever I'm working.

I think Shidoshi's review gets it best, honestly.

The best praise I can give the game is that the moment I finished it, I wanted to pick it back up again and play through the whole bloody thing.

The soundtrack really is wonderful.

Looked at the thread title, thought 'it's going to be underrated'...yep.
There's certain games that you just know certain parts of the western gaming press aren't going to respond to, no matter how good they are.

Are the people saying it's not reviewing well only paying attention to the two reviews and ignoring every other review listed? I'd say it's reviewing extremely well.

If an 86 in metracritic is a bad score we are fucking screwed. Golden abyss which was also a great game has a MC score of 80.

how is the dub?

And with the whole gravity thingy... how shit is the camera?

There is none. The game uses a fake french-ish language.

The camera works fantastically as far as my play through was concerned. For targeting stuff in the air, I like using a combination of the normal camera with the gyro stuff. It works really well.

Can anyone confirm whether US PSN is getting limited time DLC offer like EU?

Because otherwise I'll getting one from amazon.

I was tempted to get it via PSN, but stuck with Amazon because I don't want to take up all that space on the memory card.

I just want it so badly! Since Japanese launch, this has looked terrific. The reviews do seem very encouraging, but regardless, the demo sold me. I imported a Vita, and this one of the first demos I played. Movement feels so blissful- careening from one ledge to another, while triggering gravity is incredible. I can't wait for June!

Its great that this is generally getting good to great reviews, we get so few games out of Studio Japan, especially on time, that when one does arrive and is praised it is really nice to see.

Jet Set Radio is among my favorite games period. And while I haven't gotten around to playing all of Arkham City, the traversal mechanics seemed great in the demo (not to mention I loved the first game).

Hype just reached dangerous high levels now.

Yikes. Yeah, any relating this to JSR is only making it harder for me to resist buying a Vita for this.

Plus, we'll be getting JSR for the Vita also, so between these two I could just spend 3 months comfortably in a cave.

In IGNs defence, they do say there's a brilliant game hampered by various odd design decisions, which I guess for most people will simply be a case of to which extent you can look past any such faults to appreciate it

I will say though that there's an ever growing trend of reviewers coming down hard on something with a questionable design, but not taking the same criticisms upon something with a completely safe and uninspired design, which I think both should be scored to a fault - with the former at least trying something a bit different

finally a good Vita EXCLUSIVE game, it's what this system needs the most and this really should have been out at launch in the US and EU!

I will grab this for sure, in fact this might be one of the reasons why i'd buy a Vita at ALL now!

That seems crazy when you consider that bad design is objectively bad whereas safe design can can only be subjectively bad.

Hm, Destructoid giving this game a 6.8 is quite peculiar. They usually try to find the not-so-evident good in most games, however the appealing aspects of this piece are blatant.

Odd.

Edit: Oh wait, Jim Sterling, this man shouldn't be allowed to attribute ratings for games, he's better off on one of his convincing rants. (Hercules: Disappointed!)

YAHTZEE is my Bible.

Played the Japanese version, and it's my favorite Vita game so far.

I'll probably pick up the U.S. version later this year instead of day 1.
