There's absolutely no CGI here - the movie is from 1970. They simply used upwards of 15,000 extras and tons of practical effects, it's probably the closest a movie has ever come to recreating the battle it's trying to portray.
Been sitting on my Blu Ray for about a month or so. Time to watch it this weekend.
