GT5 News - Nurburgring update (pre-E3 edition)

I need to see a video review or previews for games like this , most of the time i see them drive they can't get around the track once without hitting a wall .

Time and time again people miss the point about GT5 and GT in general. They seem to expect huge innovations and dramatic gameplay mechanics. I am sorry but this is not Burnout or NFS or Mario Kart. There are no timewarps, minigames, rockets, cops, insane nitro boosts, looney game modes or flashy scenery. GT's goal is simple, recreate the experience of driving a real car as close as humanly possible. Anything else is just extra. For a lot of people that is not enough but that is only because they do not realize how big a thing that is. Seriously what do they expect. "Wow this game has cars and a track you race other cars on and the person who comes in first wins... lame... seen it before...". That must be their thinking. People like this should not even bother playing GT, hell they should not even be talking about it.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. The thing is that no one outside of Polpyhony/Sony has been able to play the game with its full features (or with the current ones). Despite all the news that OPM was able to get they were only allowed to play Tokyo 246 and the Indy Time Trial. So i'm wondering if this supposedly reliable high quality magazine is actually judging GT5 on two courses, neither of which has the full features in place.

"It's absurdly difficult, and almost certainly the most technical driving game ever created, making a mockery of Gran Turismo fans"

:lol love them magazines

Gran Turismo 5 release date still awaiting it, visitors to Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart can now already start: there is now a world exclusive, the SLS AMG Driving Experience for testing.

Using two simulators can be driven on the Nurburgring within 12 minutes - to make it more exciting, there are virtual opponents SLS AMG - 11 in number, a date for the actual game, which will be released for the PlayStation 3 from Sony, has been not exactly solid, but it is expected early summer 2010.

The simulator is available by the end of March 2010 at the Museum. Das Mercedes-Benz Museum ist für das Publikum von Dienstag bis Sonntag von 9.00 – 18.00 Uhr geöffnet – Montags geschlossen. The Mercedes-Benz Museum is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday from 9.00 - 18.00 Clock - closed Mondays.

I hope we don't have to wait toolong for the second round of the time trial. Indy may be a nice track but it isn't half boring with it's lack of gradients. :P

"Race Battle"? Is that some form of online 1vs1 race?

I'm not sure, but I guess is some kind of pre-race lobby or what you get to see as a spectator of an ongoing race.

I was told that in the competition version's LAN options there's the ability to make private rooms. I presume to host simultaneous races across the same network at 8 players max I think.

Nürburgring Nordschleife was also available in the track options but wasn't used.

EDIT:

Event Settings:
Private/Password
No. Laps
Time Limit/Penalties ???
Fine Weather ???
Voice Chat
No. Peers (8 players + director mode)
No. Players

Regulations:
Specific Car/Manufacturer/Region
Drivetrain
Displacement
Performance Point Limit
Power Limit
Weight Limit
Physics (Standard/Professional)

not to burst the bubble but there's a weather icon in Prologue as well. That one just indicates the weather in real time, not in the game per se.

Kind of ironic, but i think this is actually the first time a glimpse of the real GT5 is shown.

It has way much more than the CES or TGS/Leipzig demos.

Entry seems like it could give the ability to post laptimes for grid positions pre-race. And Free Run should essentially be Track Day sessions. And if that is a Track Day session then it confirms one more thing off that old GTHD feature list.

Weather is already announced anyways, that's all we really need to know: that it's in there.

Haven't Yamauchi-san only said, that the weather system has been developed but they aren't sure if it'll be in the final product.

Hey SolidSnakex, what's your take on the weather icon? I don't think its game related as an option type of any kind, just showing current weather for the location, but its weird that it doesn't have a city/track associated with it. Or is that little "t" under the 8 supposed to represent Tokyo or something?

As Double H posted, there seems to be a weather icon in the fourth slot on the top row. It could very well be something else though. The actual icon does seem to indicate what the conditions are on the course, as it does look like a sunny/cloudy day on the track from the screens and video we've seen.

That's really the first time we've really gotten to see anything about the online functionality though. It looks fairly extensive as Kaz said it'd be. Hopefully we'll see more from it at GDC.

Yeah it has to be just the track weather condition. In regards to the online setup I guess this is what we can expect in setting up private lobbies. There is a ton of options it seems and that makes me very happy!

Any idea what the two icons around the "gear" in the top row are? One looks like a globe with a head on it and the other looks like a sheet of paper? I would reason those are chatting options but then why have those two big icons on the very bottom left.

It's exactly that - chat options. For text or voice. No reason to make anything more of it.

If they are chat options the why have the two large icons on the bottom left? Just curios!!!

I'm hoping that the "Driver, Position, Course, Auto" gives you the ability to permanently lock the replay camera on those certain things. Which could mean that we can have this as a selectable angle

Im gonna say that weather icon is NOT part of the track conditions; it seems more like a bar on the top right that displays over all menus.

You have the download percentage on the top right, the actual current time, some other number, and the weather. Mostly like Prologue, but like I said looks like it'll be over all the menus.

Perhaps they have designed it so, that you got to click the 'voice' option to talk (in worst case hold it in) and click the 'text' option for a pop up keyboard to activate.

Damage is for all cars (visible damage), and about 150 cars have interior damage.
I was pretty sure they confirmed that damage would only be implemented for the indy/race/rally cars. Have they changed their tune yet again?

No, officially they've only ever said that all cars would have some kind of damage; race cars more than others.

According to RAZORBACK2015 on GTplanet, there's a retraction in the new OPM saying that Indy Cars won't be in GT5 and that they made mistake with their reporting of it. How they managed to do that is beyond me since they called it as an exclusive.

:lol That whole article was a regurgitated joke, just a nice round-up of all the possible (but not confirmed) additions to the series.

I think I got this right but I'm sure if I messed up something SS will correct me. :D

Production Cars = Scratches & Slight Dents
Race Cars = Crumpled body parts & Doors/Bumpers/Hoods falling off and scratches
150 Select Race Cars = Have the Race car damage plus interior damage

All vehicles I believe will suffer performance issues related to damage. Exp: To much damage results in the car not being able to continue...

Well they only retracted the Indy Car thing and nothing else.

I think chat is bottom left. And top right is probably friends list on the left and maybe messages or calendar on the right. That way you can set reminders of track days/events/challenges and send them to your friends to their calendars.

At least thats that I hope they are.
