GT5 News - Nurburgring update (pre-E3 edition)

It's just a screenshot and a whole lot of speculation, I want to hear about the features from PD. All we know is that there is a seperate team at PD just for online, question remains what will come from that considering GT5:P was to say the least bad.

it is screenshot which shows you how the online menu/room looks like.. if thats not enough, tough luck.

Thanks to Carbonfibre from GTPlanet.

Very close, but imo, drag effects on cars need to be toned down...congrats to the winner Dan Holland.

This was pointed out at GTplanet, but there seems to be a live updater on the side of the screen that tells you specifically who's moving into what spots during the race

Hopefully that can be turned off (or they tweak how it displays)... because as it stands it's a little OTT.

Agreed. A kind of leaderboard would have been better.

Shuhei Yoshida, explains why the company cuts the Gran Turismo 5 developer so much slack.

I think we'd all guess correctly...

One of the few games that sells extremely well in all regions of the World and sells consoles to boot.

I'm kinda worried they're running into trouble with the damage... Maybe they didn't leave enough processing overhead for what they want to do

Yoboman-> That's the only logical explanation I can find to the delay: optimization taking more time than they thought.

GT5P already had framerate issues without even having damages...

The Gt academy demo has framerates drops even though there is no opponent, no damage, pretty empty track (realistic though: no offense here)...

I find that a bit worrying to say the least....

btw: Are you the Yoboman from PES forums (translations, patches, and stuff)?

So is it "XXX" has moved into position 6? Or is it "XXX" has overtaken "SSS" and sits in 5th? Would be kind of crazy going into the first corner of a race though, messages popping up like crazy.

Also I wonder if PD will use this system to mention accidents on the track or to notify when someone has crashed out. This could be the base for a flag system.

name "has taken 1st place" makes me think that's race finish notices, but I not watched the video.

If it is an in-race ticker they made it overkill, just some white text near the top/side/bottom would be ample.

The small hiccups in the TT Demo are not a typical framerate problem, its a problem with HDD access. Shouldnt happen in GT5.

Captured this from SolidSnakex's second vid from the German Academy finals. I might like this system but I hope we can change the background color for it, or possible location/size on screen.

I'm already impressed with what they've accomplished so far. I hate to list it again, but: 60fps, 1280x1080 native res (even higher in replays), 2xAA + temporal AA, 200000 polygons per car.... I bet the PS3 is stretched to breaking point as it is. To be honest, if a delay is what it takes to get damage, weather and 3D in the game as well, so be it.

It's almost like we're getting the technical leaps of GT6 in GT5 now.

I saw that earlier, you have to feel bad for this dude

It seemed like he was going to take the lead and win the race and one tiny slip up ruined everything.

Yeah,noticed that too.
But with the bonkers drag dynamics, he would have been passed again at the end of the straight most likely.

What are the chances that you will be able to have no HUD at all? I race inside the car and I don't need two different speed/rpm guages; the one in the car is good enough. It also lets me get more immersed.

Did the previous GTs allow this?

Sick as a parrot comes to mind, unfortunately someone has to lose

Holy shit the UI just stomps all over GT5P and GT4Port.

I wish this was coming out next month instead of being delayed. :|

Yeah, I was thinking he had it in the bag almost. My heart sunk on that slip up, as I'm sure his did.

Looking forward to the UK finals, should be very interesting.

Next to zero I'd imagine. PD aren't big on giving you options that would actually be useful; they don't even let you change the SFX/Music volume mid race.

In fact they don't give you any options mid-race.

your hud options in the previous games were full or minimal.

i'll be seething if there's no option for a hudless view in gt5, the hud in prologue and the new gt5 demos are ridiculous.

in fact they don't give you any options mid-race.

lies.

they introduced brightness and contrast settings in gt4 maybe they'll add more stuff for gt5. :lol

Alright, I'm sorry if this has been posted but is there any way to still play the GT5 TT? Been looking everywhere for the last 30 minutes and there's hardly any mention of it disappearing from the PS Store. I can't find it anywhere though. :/ My PS3 has been out of commission for a while and I just got a new one.

I'm pretty sure that the Time Trial was removed from the US store on the 25th of January, which was the last day that you could enter to win the contest that was going on for it. I'd suggest that you check out the Japanese store as it could still be there.

I hope I don't get destroyed for this:

Will GT5 have a rewind feature? One of the things I really liked in FM3.
You'll have to take my word for it as I'm pretty knowledgeable about GT and I'm headin to bed so I cant find the interview link, but yes, there will be rewind.

Yeah but the question is where it will be use at.

Noteworthy

- Prius, Tesla, Honda CR-Z and HSV-GT, LFA are in.
- Track editor seems more than a rumor.
- Online functionality is a priority for GT5.
- Users be able to set up car clubs and racing leagues.
- Big Tokyo Auto Salon GT5 showing is expected.
sounds good. but we shall see.

Yamauchi never said a thing about a rewind feature being in GT5 other than the fact all of his comments have been taken out of context.

There is a direct quote from him saying you'll be able to "reverse your game". Now true, this for whatever reason might not mean rewind, but you can't say its unreasonable to assume so.

You're right, hence why these things are "unofficial" until its actually have been actually confirmed, something Yamauchi have never done.

Can't they just remove damage again. I never crash anyway.

They could add other features or release the game earlier instead.

I'm completely LTTP to this, but that interface looks great, but very complicated. That's a really great amount of detail on screen at once :O

This is precisely why I think Polyphony needs some sort community manager or official spokesperson, just to set a few things straight.

Cool, nice to see an updated look on Fuji. :)

It is just me or the overall texture work on the track seems to be much improved (over 5P)?

never noticed all those details on the track side and the track itself.. (little flowers, earth between the grass and the... (red and white thing that I forgot the name now, sorry...), the grassed areas seems to "stand out" from the flat ground... ^^

or maybe its just because I never played the game with that camera :P
